That thought did cross my mind! My insurance company (State Farm) goes through a glass claim company called LYNX Services and they sent me a large list of places in my area to choose from who bill the insurance directly. I chose a place that was less than a mile from that Home Depot because it was the closest one to my house. When the auto glass shop called me, I told them I had a video to show them and got their email and sent them a link. When I get the confirmation that the glass is in (estimate is Dec 4) I'll ask if they watched it and what they thought.

It was in front of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, CA on Aug 23, 2023. I was looking for parking and it happened so fast, I didn't even notice, but my passenger did. We could not find where the car went, so we went ahead and parked. I can't tell if anything was stolen, but the license plate is blacked out, so they were definitely cruising around looking to break into cars. You can use this video if you want, but please don't make it sound like this only happens in San Francisco, it can happen anywhere, especially where there are tourists. Everyone should be careful to never leave anything valuable in their vehicle. If you do catch someone breaking in, it is probably not safe to confront them. I would like to see more unmarked patrol cars looking for blacked out plates or stolen cars, that is what these smash and grab thieves use.

While we were hiking at Rancho San Antonio Park, our car was hit while it was parked. A witness left us a note with the license plate number of the car that hit our Tesla. We called 911 and a County Sheriff deputy quickly came and reported it as a hit and run. While he waited with us, another deputy went to the nearby home of the car owner and waited for the driver, who soon showed up with a bash in his fender! The deputies relayed the driver's insurance information to us and we were able to make a claim and backed it up with the videos that our sentry mode recorded, as well as a short video clip from the witness.
