    Xiangqi looks like so much fun. The way how the pieces are designed to move and interact with each other proposes a lot of interesting strategic opportunities as well as allows more personal skill expression. I would love to learn how to play

    lol its really simple, while black still has a move, move the horse to J2. if tower decide to take the horse you take the tower, run a check on the opponent. if opponent plan to take your tower, you then eat it with the horse. of course the opponent can go straight into checkmate. The key is to distract the opponent with the horse so the opponent forgot about the checkmate lol. Chess isnt only about the moves, its also about human psyhcology. learning to use the art of distraction and deception.

    I'm favorable to adopting the algebraic notation

  • @danielselli8619
    @danielselli8619 18 дней назад

    This notation is very impracticable. Xiangqi could benefit much from the algebraic notation. A suggestion for the video is to remove that puppet or show the person speaking.

    6:10 Is there a reason black doesn't instead sacrifice that horse to capture the middle cannon, or am I missing something? Cannon is more valuable than horse, right?

    Why don't you get the cannon to j9, so the advisor have to go up, then move the general to b5, so you can move the general to the right. Now, the enemy can't stop the pawn to j7 checkmate

      @joepnabuurs7886 2 месяца назад

      Yep, totally agree haha! In my head there are some variations plus what I want to say about them to the target audience, and how to phrase that into the camera. All together it slows me down immensely, same in my mother tongue. When I watch-test my own stuff before sending, I go 1.5x at its very least. Will keep practicing and maybe, one day, get to 1.25x. That would be nice!

    One is not better than the other. One is one and the other is another. What is considered a good rule is a bad rule in another. Stalemate, I think is a bad rule in Western chess. We should go back to the older rule that Chinese chess preserves. Perpetual check is a good rule. If you can perpetually harass someone, it is a draw. Example: Everybody who tried to conquer Afghanistan. You should play both so you can deal with both. There is a good and bad to everything, a Ying and a Yang side if you will.

  • @quach8quach907
    @quach8quach907 2 месяца назад

    You should play both Western chess and Chinese chess because they are both descendants of the common ancestor Chaturanga. They are brother and sister. To know one is to only know half.
