It's not the layers making your hair thinner it's the texturizing which is either done with regular hair cutting Scissors technique or with notching shears which looks like regular hair cutting Scissors with the exception of the blade on one side had teeth which is used to thin out the hair for the stylist to achieve her, not yours desired affect. When i began to realize what it was doing to my hair it was so thin you could actually see thru it and I have very dark hair. So i let them know what I want done with my hair but I do not want it to be texturized. It took a long time. Years in fact to grow my hair out to the point that those hairs have grown out to the point that they are now my ends. I don't go get haircuts anymore, I have trust issues. I'd rather go to the dentist and have a root canal or implant surgery which I just had 4 implants 1 tooth pulled and bone graft put in and it was less traumatic than going to a hair salon. Plus i was knocked out and don't remember nor did I feel a thing. Not everyone in customer service is our friend. Notching someone's hair without consent from the customer is not good cs. In fact not listening to what the customer is telling you they want and what they will pay for plus gratuity and then not received should not get paid. Last July I went to a place supposedly high end salon. I had sent them the photo of the color I wanted my hair to be, but I didn't want to include my wisdom in the color as my old age hair is coming in white and i get compliments on it all the time. I sent them that photo the month before in June so their colorist could be prepared, then a few days before my July 21st appt., I called the salon (a 2-hour drive to get there)to ask a few questions like should i wash my hair or not type of stuff and asked if they had the photo and was asked to resend it and i did, when i got there and my appt is late getting started and the stylist/colorist has not seen the photo and the manager of the shop and her are consulting with each other the best way to do it, not like I had asked mind you, I was given a so called full baliage and it was a rush job because of not being prepared, which i was told the colorist would be. I was told that the color in the white gray would only be there a few days it would fall off the color that is, and with the salon lights I could tell that even though it looked nice it was not anything like the photo. Plus i bought the shampoo/ conditioner that was used thinking of preserving it as long as I could when I did finally wash my hair next which was a week after my appt. I have photos time stamped with the date on them and you could tell within a couple days the color was not as there not to mention I had told them I didn't want any ledges with the color like in my previous attempt to get this same color for the past 5 years. The time before was very close but this time I was shocked to see that not only had the parts that were bleached had no color at all in some places in other places there was skinny pieces of color which did not blend in at all! Well i was supposed to go back for another full baliage and hair cut so I finally summoned up the courage to let them know about the hair color and wanted to cancel my hair cut cause no way was I gonna let this same stylist cut my hair after the crap job that was done on the color. The total for the first appt at this salon which I bought like I said some products was about $400 for approx an hour and a half, and the stylist was not pleasant either had attitude and was mean from the start. I was forced to buy a gift card cause they don't take cash and so I bought the one for $1,000 because they would add $150 to that on their end. They took the $150 off the top. I was told i should have returned within 48 hours if there was a problem with the color, but that was not told to me number 1 number 2i was told it would take a few days which is more than 48 hours for the color to finish doing it thing, so basically I was azz out of luck. Not to mention I'm physically disabled and driving the 5 hour round trip kicked my azz so bad I had to have assistance getting up the 2 steps to enter my home and it would take several days for me to recover from that trip. So out $400 I'll be taking in folks who need haircuts because I won't let them touch my hair ever again, for a supposed high end salon GeneJuarez Studio has deceptive practices and it shouldn't matter, if I have time and date stamped photos of the crap job I got not anything near what I wanted, that's evidence to prove that my hair was not done right but they don't care about what's right, they don't care about the customer so they have lost my business and I still have the gift card with like $600 on it I'll doubt they'll give me back. I'm also on disability so I saved for the longest time. In fact I saved from the time covid came till this past July so I could have my hair done by those experts...I may allow them to give me a mani pedi but like I said 5 hour drive round trip so I doubt I'll be doing that. It makes my blood boil how they are so entitled and full of privilege and give zero f*<×$ about what the customer wants. I'm gonna start telling people in no uncertain terms are they to do it their way, unless they're paying for it, they are to do it the way I said to do it because I'm fed up with paying $100's of dollars to have my hair done and not get it and have to pay out gratuity of 20% because that's how I roll, but I won't go back. I only pay because I don't want to get a bad rap and I'm not a freaking Karen and if I were to be called one, I'd be going to jail. Real Talk.
