Move along now, there's nothing to see. Some guy uses his right to freedom of speech to have a pop at the Hotel and the immigrants that are currently staying there.

Day in the life of a miner 1911 LNWR Alexandra Colliery Wigan
I bought coal from there 1996 until it closed. A great bloke, Billy and goox for a pint at the Sportsman's pub where he had his own chair. We had two black and white kittens from billy born in the pit head. One called Sooty and the other Billy. Only menories left but still burning the coal at Todmorden as we stockpiled a huge tonnage and combine it with logs, seacoal from Northumberland and turf.
Did you go into the tunnel through the Western portal? and did you get as far as the collapsed part? I would be interested to know. 😀
www.flickr.com/gp/b3tarev3/6ch04Z1f5C That trip was many moons ago now. I believe it was the western portal, and we got as far as to what looked like a loading wharf. Have a look at the photos in the link.
Ruined by the stupid ear aching music, and i use the word music very lightly
Love this, interesting. What a hard, dirty, dangerous way to make a living but fascinating nonetheless.
Remembering the men that worked and died at Polmaise Colliery in Scotland What a job that was so big respect to every miner that was out there
As a lad growing up in Bacup, I used to admire the miners with their black faces after they'd got off shift. So much so that I wanted to become one. This video illustrates what a tough job it would have been. And dangerous: coal dust and collapse always lurking. Thank you for this!

Hi I have
Brilliant
Bob Smithies reporting from the mine?
It didn’t look very productive
Are there any bootleg mines still operating in the UK? All you miners are legends. Much respect for you all.
There is still the odd one or two dotted around the UK that are still operating. 👍
What kind of air chipping hammer is being used to break up the coal seam
We called them Punchers down in South Wales.
Jiggerpick in coventry
It's sad to think that most of the British Coal Miners are no longer with us. Including my Dad. Most of them died from coal mining diseases. Yet Thatcher thought of them as nothing more than trash. But they were the backbone of British Industry. Coal was definitely King and just to put the Mountain their place Thatcher just closed the Coal Mines down and imported the coalinto the UK. Which is a disgrace as Britain still has vast amounts of Coal just waiting to be mined. I think it would be better if they just reopened the coal mines again it would save them slot of money in the long run
Reminds me of me and cookie hanging on to the window wipers of a car jimmy was driving over his grandmas field , great memories.
Ruined by the music!
Blame RUclips not me.
Cheers for this video! I have recently uploaded a clip from the same location but it is a standard style track with sleepers. People kept mentioning the elevated track they used to have. This is the only example of it I have been able to find but it is great to see what it used to be like!
Planning bloke proper snob, we want real work in this country not seasonal low paid jobs, probably never done a real days work in his life .
Ramshackle relic of the Victorians. Kids on site? Smoking at the drift mouth? How was this place ever open in the 21 st century. Granted it's interesting though.
I passed my Rescue Officers Examination In 1984
I joined the Mines Rescue in 1978 at Houghton le Spring
is that another off my vhs?
I like your channel!! 🙏 Looking forward to seeing more from you. Do you know of promosm?!? You should use it to promote your videos!

They spoke about seeking the help of the European (whatever it was at that time). I just shook my head knowing now what the EU is about. The political EU only helped themselves, disgusting outfit they are.
The song they're singing is a hymn called ' Mi glywaf dyner lais' which means 'I hear a tender voice' Lovely film, thank you. Both my parents were from Maerdy. Happy memories of aunts uncles and cousins.
Glad you enjoyed it Kathrine
Even showing all the rot and decay it's in today, you can still see how beautiful and splendid it would have been in it's heyday. It should never have been allowed to become yet another empty, derelict building in Burnley...such a shame~
Is it all still there
Anyone know the song name around the 7 minute mark
Gwahoddiad is its name
@@lewisweaver7653 thank you so much
Blimey. I was watching this and thought the level at the start looked familiar. My mum is from Resolven , and I remember going walking in the woods and seeing levels like the one here , whether the exact one can’t say, so amazed to see this was filmed there brought a bit of a tear to my, little gem of a film
Exploring the fells and the mines is such a great time. You can never be bored outside.
I remember Grimebridge well. We (including a retired miner!) went to have a look and as there was no gate, went in to have a look. It was a wet, muddy crawl - the "mud" being coal dust! We were later "caught in the act" by Billy's father, who was living up there to keep an eye on it. It was a gas-free mine so I have some nice pictures of the face - in fact I photographed it all the way in. My only regret was that I did not explore the straight-on branch. It was gentle profitable but its only customer was Clitheroe Cement. However, when this was taken over, the new owners felt that their coal security would be better served by British Coal. Later I got to know Billy quite well and his tails were hilarious. They had no pit-head baths (at least at first) and his journeys home by bus were hilarious. There were always a ring of empty seats around him! Ken
Nice story Ken....thanks for sharing.
THE END! Britains coal mining industry, Yet we import millions of tonnes of the stuff from abroad. A kick in the teeth to the men, boys and women who put heart and soul working life. One day they will be digging down to the coal fields again, but all the know how has been lost. Makes me feel sick.
We will never see coal mines again in Britain that’s a fact, labour rates are fare to high and its a out dated form of energy
@@jamesford4750 Unfortunately your probably right. It just gets under my skin.
Coal in their blood, and their lungs.
Where I live I know of 4 drift levels and who ever takes them over never last there seems no money in these mines?
Is this in California?
Wales - UK 👍
The reason the roof support is splitting at 1:10 is because you have not put a pad on top. Best stay on the bank mate it you have no clue what to do underground.
