Navigating Menopause: Osteoporosis & Nutrition Guide
Hi. Nice video. My Gyn put me on 100 mg of progesterone and that dose did not work so now I'm on 200 mg. I'm not sure if it is working bc my blood work is not getting done until Feb. I am super anxious and I'm not an anxious person. I've been on progesterone and testosterone for 1.5 yrs and it's not helping bc my body is not absorbing the meds. Any suggestions for anxiety? I already take a magnesium blend. And have you had patients not absorb medications but eventually got the right dose? I'm anxious that I'll be like this forever and never get the right dose. I don't eat processed foods, barely have sugar. I walk and strength train. I'm thinking too. 53 and in perimeno. Thank you :)))
Yes: it sounds most likely, that imbalances in your gut are causing/ strongly contributing to your anxiety ( 90 percent of our serotonin is produced in the gut)…. Or if you have been under a lot of chronic or current stress, this can contribute as hormones lower…..you may need to dig deeper, beyond hormone balancing to help you resolve this. If you would like to speak further about this, please let me know: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca . Thanks.
Yesssss especially when you gotta work, cook, shop clean ITS TOO MUCH! I’m Tired 😢
I remember last year I had 5days wth insomnia omggg I felt like crap so I went to see my gyn and she said u could be experiencing anxiety yr going on vaca in 3 days and yr period might be coming..so she did give me some sleeping pills for day time and night time for anxiety and stress I did have a good night sleep and my period did come !!
Thanks for sharing: insomnia pre period is likely tied into hormonal imbalances…. getting to the root of these imbalances is the key to balancing hormones, and improving on a common symptom of insomnia pre period for the long term. If you want individualized recommendations around this, please feel free to book a initial, complimentary consultation at: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca
I'm 26 and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I can barely move before my period starts. So much fatigue and feels like I have a body flu with random pains. So sleepy, too.
I was literally sleeping at work.
This can be related to a few different factors, but hormone imbalance is definitely one of them. Usually, too much estrogen, relative to progesterone, causes symptoms such as fatigue (can be severe at certain points in the cycle), brain fog, and other physical symptoms. There are ways to learn the root causes of your estrogen dominance, and how to rebalance it, to restore you energy. If you would like more information around this, please feel free to connect with me through my website: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca to book a 1st time, complimentary consultation, to discuss your health, and if it may be a good fit for us to work together, to help you regain balance in your body! Thanks for the comment. 1 tip: try to prioritize sleep, as much as possible, getting to bed early enough, on a daily basis to restore energy to the body for the next day.
I’m in perimenopause. I have been on progesterone for 5 months. I am still struggling the week before my period. What other treatments are there? Your video inspired me to go for a walk two days in a row now.
Bro I ain't even 22 yet been happening for so long, looking for answers
This is likely due to a higher than optimal toxin load/burden in the body: can be from toxins in our food supply, air pollution, plastics/personal care products and more….. you may need to do some customized detoxification, to help you with rebalancing your health. If you would like more information around this, please let me know: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca
It’s difficult to find a functional medicine doctor. Many places that come up in google search end up being naturopaths. I only feel normally 2 weeks out of the month and then end up needing a ton of supplements and nutrients. I can tell I have a nutrient deficiency despite what tests say. I will continue staying hopeful in my search. I might contact you if I can’t find someone local. I do prefer in person but after years of specialists and tests and no relief, I’m considering other avenues. Thank you for the encouragement and your time on RUclips 🙏
Im 43, and I can tell Im in early stages. The hot nights, the foggy memory, and sleepless nights. 😢
Yes, this sounds like early stages, for Perimenopause: there is help to manage these symptoms. If you would like to connect to talk through this, please let me know. You can reach me on my website www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca.
Super helpful and informative. Thank you. 😊👍
you are welcome....
I’m 27 and it’s been happening since I was about 15
You likely have estrogen dominance, which can happen at any age. It is usually tied into poor processing/detoxification of hormones. This is tied into liver and gut health.... if you would like more information on how to support and rebalance these symptoms, please let me know. You can reach me through my website: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca
Could it be to do with vitamin D deficiency aswell? Does sunshine and a vitamin d supplement help?
Im in my 30s!!!!
If this is the case…. It will be very important for you to get to the root causes of your fatigue now, as it will likely get worse, as hormone levels shift in your 40’s and beyond. To learn what can be done for you, please feel free to connect with me on a complimentary initial consultation to discuss how to determine the root causes of your fatigue and how to rebalance this naturally with a customized lifestyle plan, based on precision lab testing. www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca is where you can book this. Thanks for watching my video! Take care.
Also, I prefer to be called a woman rather than a female. Woman is a beautiful and powerful title. A female can be anything, a female dog, cat, bell pepper, fish….naaah. I am a WOMAN.
I’m 53 and my period will be here in about 2 or 3 days, I’m exhausted!! All I want to do is lie down, relax or just sleep for hours. This started happening to me after I turned 50. What I’ve also noticed is that after my period starts, maybe by day 2 or 3, my energy shoots back up and I want to clean the entire house! Every single time! I have an event to attend tonight and I’m not going because I’m too tired. ARGH!!!!
Firstly, thank you @angela for this very informative & supportive video 🙏 legend, Im a 36-year-old and a full-time student three years into a naturopath degree. I was diagnosed with severe PMDD symptoms around the start of the year. Since moving to a property with animals & a more supportive environment, my symptoms are managable. I track my cycle and decide based on where I'm at, as to what I can give to myself and others at that time. I'm working with a new doctor & naturopath and have identified my hormones as being very low. Also positive for the MTHFR variant gene & potentially ceoliac disease. Im working to build/balance my hormones up again through diet, supplements, strong herbal remedies, moderate exercise and alot of rest. I'm taking time off at the end of year to have a break, because stress has impacted my overall health so much. It's not worth pushing. I have found it very helpful to work with a naturopath & doctor to balance both approaches, & to get the right testing. If you're reading this right now, I started to feel better when I made big changes to put myself first. This is not easy, but it's very necessary for longevity and health as a female. Having the right support & team around you 💙 to reassure you has been key Xx There is hope, keep trying, and know that through proper knowledge and understanding you can gain your power back as a woman.
I end up having seizures with my periods sometimes.. I hate it. I'm 45.
I can't even think clearly, forget how to do things , feeling so hungry, and extremely tired
These are common PMS symptoms, and can happen when hormones are out of balance. If you are looking to find a solution to this, please connect with me at: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca , to book a free consultation, to see if it could be a good fit for us to work together, to find you a natural solution to your health….
Have had this symptoms for the past 3 years now and it so scary at times I go out of breath but I’m still trying.
I’m willing to bet everything I own if this happened to men there would be a cure for it. I’ve gotten this worse in my 30’s not my 40’s tho…
I didn’t even have enough energy to finish this video. I kept falling asleep. Wish there was a quick fix
৭/৮ বছর ধরে ঘুমের সমস্যা
আমার ঘুমের সমস্যা ওষুধ ছাড়া ঘুম হয় না, কি করবো
I have the fatigue a week or two before the period. Is that normal? I feel so tired that i cannot carry out my work and it gets so frustrating.
This is not normal. It can happen if estrogen and progesterone are out of balance. The fatigue can be due to low estrogen, but it is important to look deeper into this, beyond just the estrogen levels... as often the gut and immune system are out of balance too, and this impacts hormone balance. If you would like more information on this, please feel free to contact me and/or book an appointment through my website: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca
Is there a best time to have cortisol and hormones tested or should it be tested multiple times during our cycle or the month?
Should I have adrenals checked before the hormones? Is there a best way to do this? Anxiety has been very debilitating for me lately...mornings into mid-late afternoon...I hate it. Depression also. I still get my period but it's kind of erratic especially the past six months or so. Loads of stress too. I'll be 49 in mid March. I've also heard you mention the Dutch test but I cannot afford the price unfortunately. Or a functional doctor either.😞 It's so hard to get actual answers and help.
What about wild yam cream?
Yes! This can be helpful for many women.... but not everyone. I am happy this has helped you.
@@angelasimpsonfunctionalmed5893 thanks. I haven't tried it yet...was just asking.
Yoga and yoga enemas helped me a lot.
I am not in menopause my amh is 4.6 my cycle is 28-30 days long but i still get sooo tired a few days before my period why could this be
I am on my period right now I’m Hungry and tired stressed out . I’m trynna be more easier on myself periods are out of our control so we must take it easy and just rest it’s fine to rest so we don’t fall out somewhere
How? Debilitating fatigue and exercise in the same sentence? I can't even walk to the toilet!
Yes, but what about women in the advanced stages of perimenopause who still struggle with insomnia, despite using bioidentical progesterone and a small amount of testosterone gel? Despite adhering to all recommended practices, nothing seems to alleviate the problem. This critical issue is not receiving the attention it deserves in current discussions.
Unfortunately , bioidenticle Hormones, and adhering to a lifestyle plan are not always enough: digging deeper is often needed. Things that can contribute: parasites/ imbalanced gut health, hidden inflammation from toxin loads trapped deep in the cells, cortisol imbalances: HRT does not fix this….. These are just some of the potential other reasons, when someone feels that they are doing everything right. The key is to get to the root causes of the insomnia, and it sounds as though you have not yet, despite already doing a lot for your health. If you want to dig deeper into learning about how to solve this, please let me know.
Saying « females » is annoying…
Have there been any studies on ozempic or other medications that help with insulin regulation and the link to women who are in these stages
Ozempic/ GPL-1 supports can help some, but it is not a solution for all/ many women. Insulin is best regulated through consistent ( but not high intensity, only moderate) levels of exercise, proper sleep, and products such as ALA and Berberine. The gut/gut microbiome also need to be balanced, to keep both insulin and glucose balanced….
Thank you
You are welcome….🙏
This is great to learn 💤💤
Thank you
My doctor gave me the same advice walk / workout
Yes, it sounds very basic and simple, but it works….
31. Really tired before period
It's called severe pms pmdd I have it since years and it's seems be getting worse it's horrible I know it must be from hormone fluctuation I wish they could find something to help balance and relive symptoms. I take a antidepressant since two months helps mood during this phase but still exhausted and I've been this way since years
This sounds like estrogen dominance…. there are different causes to it, and primrose can help, but really is more of a bandaid to symptoms… which is why some symptoms got better and some got worse. Let me know if you want to speak further about this on a complimentary consultation, to discuss how to get to the root of these symptoms, to develop a lasting solution.
Thank you
You are welcome. If you have any questions, please let me know…
I'm 29 and my debilidating fatigue comes gradually from day 8 to day 14 (ovulation) and that 14th day is the most severe. For me it's not right before the period so I never hear of my issue. Then I'm still badly fatigued until day 23 and then I start to finally feel better for about 6 days until my period hits. The only thing that gets rid of the symptoms is Primrose Oil but it's making my periods irregular and painful so idk what to do
I get itchy eyes and skin,I'm tired like I've been on a long road trip.I have had the thick hair on my chin during my period. The hair on the chin permanently.
I just don't understand the meat and inflammation connection. I tried carnivore diet and all my eczema and brain fog went away.
If carnivore works: it signals fairly significant gut dysfunction, and immune system reactivity. This type of diet can calm down the gut temporarily, but is very limited, as far as variety…. Therefore over time, it impacts the gut microbiome. It is good to get to the root of the gut imbalances, to develop a longterm plan…. as this type of eating is not ideal for long-term cardiovascular health and wellness. If you want to connect to speak further about how to get to the root causes of your imbalances, please feel free to connect on a complimentary call, by going to: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicone.ca
Ive been on HRT for a while and was doing well with my dose but last year I had a traumatic accident that left my nervous system completely disregulated, it took me at least 8 month when my doctor suggested that I get a progesterone increase. Thanks god I listen to him because it took at least another 3 months for everything to start functioning again and I finally feel so much better, my anxiety has subsided and I am able to handle stress again. I read that when you’re super stress it depletes your progesterone.
This is true, but the root is the adrenal function, more so than sex hormones… so HRT can be a short term management tool/ strategy… but won’t heal the underlying root causes. There are ways to get to the cause of the specific imbalances in your body. If you would like to look further into this, please book a complimentary consultation at: www.angelasimpsonfunctionalmedicine.ca
I have been going to drs for years and they tell me they haven't seen symptoms like mine. I lose control of my muscles. My legs shake and i often collapse. My grip on items gets bad and driving becomes dangerous because i am so tired. I have tried diets and birth control but my doctors thinks its neurologically related. I'm at a loss. Nobody can help me and it effects every aspect of my life.
This sounds neurological … a PT specifically for this area of health, would be good to see. Take care
Can this fatigue and clumsiness also happen in late 20s during PMS?
Yes it most definitely can, and is usually related to Estrogen Dominance
Hi doc ! i'm 28years old and i suffer from insomnia just after my period for 1 week to 10days .. and thats so awful . i dont know what to do please tell me the solution
What about graves disease and chronic pain?
so it's not normal if it happens every time 😢 i thought they say women do need more rest than man, so i adjusted my responsibilities with my menstrual fatigue since i happened to work in a less demanding workplace
Yes, this is exactly what you should do, at this time of your cycle…. Great work!! Thanks for sharing …
