It started because kids left for college at that age. If you are not going to college you need to WORK, pay rent and help out. The problem is with parents and their parenting style. We need to be raising adults, not children. I dropped out of high school at 16 to work in a factory and help support my parents. Got my GED at 20. GROW UP and quit being part of the problem.
