There are a ton of stories that ive heard of people saying that they feel like a kid again, getting fully engulfed in a video game like the old days. I couldnt agree more

Its crazy how one game changes your whole perspective

Ive been fed up with shooters specifically lately, There are no new action games with an emphasis on strategy, many games have become "take out these enemies then go to the next area and take out these enemies" its pretty annoying tbh

I honestly disagree, I found a settings list on reddit for it and it looks pretty good but runs at 30 FPS, in my opinion its more than playable.

As someone who has played BG3 for 500 hours on the steam Deck, I think it looks pretty good.

I had some dips in frame rate at points but the visuals were pretty good for that good looking of a game.

Play Final Fantasy 8. You will change your mind. Even though baldurs gate 2 is old, to me that was even a better more fun game than baldurs gate 3. It is that damn good and fun

There are definitely multiple types of turn based games and I agree, it takes me out of it when you just get put into a scene going move for move against an enemy but I havent tried many so I plan on giving them their chance as well! Thanks for the input!

My best 2 games I have played of all time. 1st position Baldurs Gate 2, 2nd position Final Fantasy 8, they are remaking final fantasy 7 but trust me 8 was the best Final fantasy they ever made, 7 is just a hype. 3rd Fortnite, 4th Baldurs Gate 3, 5th Zelda O of time. I cannot explain to you how good baldurs gate 2 and Final Fantasy 8 was. Its irritating in the beginning 5 to 8 hours, but then you get addicted and lose sleeping and eating and keep playing. :) beyond words how good they were. Games have become nuisance now, those fantastic content and depths do not exist in games anymore.

@@SchmutzProductions btw bro baldurs gate 2 was not turn based, you could select all player and keep fighting, while pausing in the middle to make strategies. It was wayy better, to me it was 2 times better than bg3.

@@suplex3067 With the proper GUI you can have the deck ask you which OS you would like when you boot it up

@@suplex3067 There are drivers out now that allow for audio and they work pretty well in my experience!

With Remote Play and Streaming, you can play gamepass on SteamOS but to play games natively from gamepass on the steam deck you have to install Windows unfortunately.

@@ucky9226 Yah I wish there was a way to get them locally installed on Steam OS. Maybe in the future it might be possible. The community for the steam deck has done some wild things already.

If you see willing to put in a little bit of work to get it running smoothly, I think it would be a worthwhile endeavor for you, there are way more tools for optimization on windows than there is on linux. Hope this helps! I really appreciate the input!

I would assume windows would be much easier for that. The Linux File Explorer is VERY different from windows and if you are not used to it you can get lost and frustrated very easily.

If you have a desktop you can mod the game on it and then copy the files on your deck

I think the opinion of these changes vary person to person. My opinion is definitely not a blanket for all casuals. I definitely get what you are saying though

You are 100% right, In the case of Activision and Bungie, their anti-cheat COULD work on proton, but they are too lazy for compatibility, Call Of Duty and Destiny could EASILY run on Linux if they even cared

The worst part about that too is that people even use the anti-cheat capability as a way of cheating themselves and the only thing people accomplish is letting some company access parts of your computer that they have no right accessing. I for one would only use the compatibility and would rather be banned then give them that kind of administrative access to my personal things.

With the proper GUI setup (Check Deck Wizard on YT for a tutorial) you just switch between them on boot, super seamless and makes the dual boot alot prettier.

Yes you can! The anti cheat blocks steam os because it cant do the checks on linux that it does on windows. So if you boot it on windows it will work just fine!

I feel like the steam deck was built for people in situations like yours and I truly believe having windows gives the freedom to play/do whatever you want with your deck. Im glad its worked out for you!

Also to add.. pc gets all the switch games first (like way ahead) so I’m ready to just convert to steam deck. 🤣

I couldnt agree more, im glad it fits your needs! Something like the steam deck brings comfortability and ease of use to PC gaming which desperately needs to be simplified for the more casual audience while also bringing a good experience for long time PC players. They struck a really good balance with the deck.

As I was researching about getting back into pc gaming… I was feeling like I was missing out. Stumbled across this device and now I need one ASAP. So many options.. cheaper and ik it’ll fit all my needs. I’m so stoked this exists. The world may be shit but at least we have steam deck

Depending on the pricing I may disagree, With how tough things are (in the US) I still think the steam deck has a shot at being the best value. I know the ROG Ally is a direct competitor as well but the simplicity of the deck in comparison to most mobile PCs is where it holds its value imo

@@SchmutzProductionsthe legion go can play any game. At the 700 price tag and removable sd it’s a win/win the steam deck can’t play every game it can only play single player games. For casual players this is fine but for people that don’t want to spend an arm and leg for a gaming rig. I think people are going to gravitate towards the go

@@Djr2699 What are you talking about lmfao, the steam deck "can only play single player games"? What does this mean? Not everybody needs "the best performance", there's always going to be something better. With the price to performance ratio of the steam deck, especially if you can pick it up refurbished for $320 USD, it's amazing relative to any of the competition right now. Ignoring all this, the legion Go is pretty bulky even in comparison to the steam deck and has NO support for VRR which is going to suck on high-end triple A games leading to an enormous amount of screen tearing and artefacts, and that's ignoring the fact that it has a 2560 x 1600 resolution which will kill performance by a huge margin when a resolution of 1920x1200 has a miniscule difference in image quality because of the pixel density.

@@circle5655 ? It can only play single player games for the most part unless devs allow battleeye and easy to work on Linux. Vrr, is what everyone is complaining about . But I’m sure there will be adjustments to fix it

I dont usually tend to play competitive multiplayer on handhelds, it just doesnt feel the same, now would I like it if the steam deck could run Destiny 2? Absolutely lol

It really depends on whats important to you, I find that the Steam Deck is much more comfortable than playing on a laptop but I play 90% of games on controller. If you are a KBM player the decision may be tougher. As a standalone PC with a KBM dock, it would work great for most things that you would want to play!

@SchmutzProductions I tried using emudeck but I personally couldn't get it to work so I jus use stand alone emulators

​@SchmutzProductions emudeck is definitely the best way to go, most of the setup is automatic anyway.
