How about supervising the malfeasance of the NCMB and its hitman, NCPHP? Witness shopping out of state after their 5 experts wouldn't give them what they wanted to promote their new crusade. Finally had to get expert at Talbot, Atlanta who had a glaring conflcit of interest. Fraud, coercion, extortion, and medical malpractice via sham diagnosis and sham treatment. 3 months exile in Pine Grove, Hattiesburg , MS. See if they will show you the file. They won't. NCMB Destroyed my career with a stake in my heart after the KY Board of Medical Licensure case 467, 1994 . NC License 95-00291. Or, if you want to see how doctors are our own worst enemies, read my memoirs: My Medical-Legal Back Pages. Archway publisher. Pen name Bryce Sterling. Long, tedious, and depressing but based entirely on actual events in Elizabethtown KY, and in Elizabeth City, NC. But what's the use? I will be dismissed as a troll and this post scrubbed/shadowbanned. It always is, whether posted on YT, Google Reviews, or Facebook.

“Retirement Solutions?” There are none if the NCMB and its hitman NCPHP have driven the final stake into your career, after initially getting suspended in KY because an operating room nurse had handed me the wrong (lethal) drug after violating her sacred duty. KBML v Karl W Hubbard Case 467, 1994. As a medical refugee who arrived in NC in 1995, I wish the NCMS or anybody would have investigated the way the NCMB harasses doctors to promote an agenda. In my case, after scolding a black female registration worker at my hospital (Albemarle Hospital) who could do no wrong because God, as well as political correctness, was on her side, the NCMB referred me for evaluation by NC Physicians Health Program, as per their public statement on their newsletter as their method of screening "problem physicians." When Dr Michael Wilkerson thought my 7 days suspension for this incident by Albemarle Hospital was harsh, he advised me to leave. Actually at the time, a seven day suspension did not even meet the ten day threshold for being a reportable event to the NCMB, but the hospital and the NCMB had an agenda in 2003 and that was to ignore physician burnout and focus on virtue signaling their concern for the "Disruptive Physician " to the public. Not satisfied with NCPHP report, the NCMB poured gas on the fire by making me get evaluations at the Center for Professional Well Being in Durham, where I was evaluated by Drs John Pfifferling PhD and Louise Andrew, MD , JD. Again no findings other than Dr Pfferling's urgent plea for me to "get the hell out of medicine and Elizabeth City." No accusations, suspicions, rumors of any alcohol or drug abuse, no failed drug screen, DWI, DUI , no findings or suspicions by any expert, misdemeanors, felonies etc EVER, in my life. Not satisfied, the NCMB, then sent me for evaluation by their experts Dr Phillip Hillsman, MD Psychiatry, and John Castlebury, PhD in Raleigh. Again no findings other than lip service that I was angry--gee I wonder why? The Albemarle Hospital administrator, Sharon Tanner, was trying to get rid of me so that she could install a managed care system-with employed doctors. Except that it went bust. She started out as administrator around 2000 when Albemarle Hospital was $40 Million in the green, and but when she was finally escorted out under police guard in 2012, she had run the hospital financially into the ground to the point that it was $100 million in the red. After 5 in state evaluations, I was sent out of state to be evaluated by one of those "Treatment Centers" that Louise Andrew has now called out on her Mentor or Doximity web sites as being exploitative money traps. Talbot Recovery Center in Atlanta GA had a minimum of $50,000 conflict of interest if they could land me at their facility for 3 months therapy. They gave the NCMB exactly what they and Sharon Tanner, the hospital administrator, wanted. Urgent in patient therapy. "Because as the desk clerk at Talbott told me, "I had a right to be happy." But then Talbot suddenly realized they had no program for this new diagnosis of what is really the "disrupted physician." I was sent to Hattiesburg, MS Pine Grove's Physician Enhancement Program (PEP), but on arrival for my 3 months treatment was told they didn't have this so called anger management program either. So they coerced me into a full treatment program as a chemically or alcohol impaired physician who had to sit around doctors who accused me of being the same, and attend AA, 12-Step, Caduceus, etc. Comply Dr Hubbard or you'll be reported back to NCPHP and the NCMB. When I returned from my "exile" in November 2003, my orthopedic surgery competitor Dr John Kona, who had been recruited by Tanner and had commandeered what diminishing practice I had, turned out to have been the alcoholic all along as the NCMB issued a "letter of public concern" about his DUIs. And my patient, a hospital maintenance and groundskeeper, confided to me his disbelief at all the bottles he would empty out of the trash at his office. He left after3 years. A continuation of the pattern where Elizabeth City over the past 20 years has gone through over a dozen orthopods. The current one is an itinerant worker who lives in Chesapeake, VA. I lasted 16 years, although admittedly I was trapped because of a suspension of my Medical license in KY. But I have only scratched the surface. The NCMB, the hospital , Dr Edward Eadie the Chief of Surgery at the time and Dr Ralph Battles the Chief of Staff had both physically assaulted nurses (the one assaulted by Dr Battles also happened to be my patient) and led the charge for my suspensions at Albemarle Hospital and all but collaborated with Tanner. Those 3 suspensions are discussions for another day but are outline in detail in my memoirs. But the NCMB will never give me a response to their malfeasance and the fact that NCPHP was the subject of a 2014 NC Audit as part of an investigation into possible kickbacks NCPHP received in exchange of problem physician referrals to these so called treatment centers, or that Albemarle Hospital suddenly gave me a clean bill of health when I applied for a license in MS where I made my last stand from 2012 to 2016 until I could go no further, as Natchez Hospital in MS declared its second bankruptcy in 4 years. I had to compel Albemarle Hospital to release my record of these 3 suspensions to the MS Medical Board! The hospital, like the NCMB and NCPHP (Dr Warren Pendergast) who upon learning what happened in Pine Grove, immediately dropped my follow-up contract (and the fees it entailed) over the phone, tried to sweep it all under the rug. What happened in Pine Grove was not only medical malpractice with gross negligence in making a knowingly wrong diagnosis and rendering improper treatment, but criminal fraud and extortion. But alas you can't sue, because NCMB has sovereign immunity and NCPHP, Pine Grove, and Albemarle Hospital are protected under the NCMB coat tails. Dr Eadie even tried to hide his complicity in destroying what was possibly a salvageable career by consoling me, trying to make me think that my exile had actually been beneficial. "You have changed Karl." Yeah. I have changed all right. I am more furious than ever. I finally had to quit medicine and not renew my license or my DEA etc in 2017. I could not even get a position at the VA System or Indian Reservation through Gallup, NM Indian health Service. Not with a history of suspension from the KY Medical Board. So here I sit most of my "career" having been wasted. My thought processes are as sharp as a tack, hands steady as a rock, and I bike to the YMCA and do heavy weight training 5-6 days a week. No meds, no medical conditions etc. When a State Medical Board harasses a physician, they actually IMPAIR the physician, but they don't want to admit that. Instead, I hear the endless cookie cutter excuses that I must have a problem that I am not mentioning, or that I blame everyone else for my troubles, and can't get on with his life, or that I am another troll on this and other websites. I've heard them all. Check my story out. If you want the big picture, then it's in my memoirs: My Medical-Legal Back Pages. Archway publisher, pen name Bryce Sterling. But whom am I kidding? This post will be censored in short order. They always are. I went through this with Facebook, NCMB's social media site, and Google reviews of the KBML, the KY Bar Association, Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY etc.

This is actually a very important topic that requires some proactivity on the part of the provider. If a client misses an appointment, reach out and screen for transportation difficulties. Also consider changing the '15 minutes late and you have to reschedule' policy. Taking a bus is no joke. If someone has children, it is that much more challenging. We need to be creative and proactive regarding this topic.

APRN’s and DNP’s are 110% capable of providing care to patients. Patient outcomes are the same or BETTER when care is provided by APRN’s; this is a FACT… decades of research support this truth. It’s sad for everyone when the arrogant ‘good old boy’ network continues to believe they are the only ones that can provide independent care to patients. Meanwhile, patients wait 6 months or more for mental health care. Good luck filling the gaps!

Now, the world is still a nasty crazy place out there, we need a lot of courage and we need a lot of resilience after that, and we will fall down before we stand up… What really matters is the silence of the night in our conscience. We cannot control what happens but we can use what happens. We have so much reserves of love and support inside us, if we can just remember that in our mind and move on.

How different this was compared to Mississippi, where Communitiy Health Systems (CHS) Merit Health Hospital at Natchez, formerly Natchez Regional Medical Center, settled my case which allowed them to single me out for total liability in order to get three other physicians involved in the case off and protect their records. I was a lame duck physician who was leaving town and would serve as the perfect scapegoat. When you have no choice whether to fight or settle a case, you are denied a jury trial which would ordinarily apportion a percentage liability to each physician. I had no say in whether to settle any cases in MS. It boiled down to how much it would cost CHS or before they took over , the insurance company to defend. The plaintiffs in MS knew that I had no choice in whether to settle, and so a plaintiff could always be assured he would at least recoup his litigation cost, regardless of the merits of the case. In contrast, Medical Mutual of NC went to extraordinary efforts and expense to defend me against a nuisance case which was eventually dismissed when I was practicing at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City, NC. NC Medical mutual paid out just one settlement in 16 years while I was there as an orthopedic surgeon. In contrast in just three years in Natchez, three claims were paid out all against my wishes. I was sold out through settlement in my first two cases in MS to "clean up the books" as Natchez Regional Hospital had entered a second bankruptcy, and the new owner, Community Health Systems (CHS) self-insured and was terminating its contract with the current med mal company. I was not even afforded the decency to review any of the plaintiff's experts opinions or anything! My career and reputation is being decided by a number cruncher in the Medical Malpractice carrier's HQ, not on the basis of merit or lack thereof. All discussed in my memoirs. All true events in KY, then NC and MS. www.archwaypublishing.com/Bookstore/BookDetail.aspx?Book=761645 And in this book, how the NCMB and NCPHP extorted and harassed me and how I was subjected to blatant double standards by Albemarle Hospital, Elizbeth City, NC administrator who was eventually escorted out under police guard and by a well cronied MEC. All my Google posts, Facebook posts (the only platforms I had left) have been shadowbanned and scrubbed from public. No responses from the NCMB lawyers. The system is corrupt. What NCPHP, the NCMB pitbull in sheep's clothing, did to me was pure fraud and extortion. All my information and claims can be sourced for accuracy License in NC 95-00261 and in KY, case #467 1994. No cease and desist orders by the boards, hospital, lawyers, etc. No lawsuits for libel ,slander, defamation. No responses whatsoever. They just want me to shut and go away! And besides, Medical Boards have sovereign immunity. They are rogue agencies who can do anything they want with impunity. The NCMB harassed me endlessly, sending me to expert after expert for evaluation and still could not get what they wanted to hear, until they had to send to me out of state to Talbott, Atlanta who had an incredible conflict of interest-- $50,000 worth to return findings that none of the NCMB's own appointed experts ( 4 EVALUATIONS!) had.

I bet doctors would prefer if the insurance companies just handed them a blank check and let the doctor fill it in. I've been to doctors tons of times and every single time they were in a huge hurry, handed me some pills that caused bad side effects and charged me a fortune. So what if you have to fill out some forms. You make your patients sit in the waiting room for an hour filling out forms saying they wont sue you if you make them sicker. Its the most crooked profession in our country.
