I found the real character of the... uh... characters is in their comparison to others. Rost is defined as being a father figure who takes on that mantle after immense tragedy. Varl is hysterical compared to his stone cold mother. Erend pretty much spends both games hitting on Aloy (also a major plot point is how different he is from his sister), Sylense thinks everyone is below him and his knowledge (which, I mean, he's kinda not wrong), Talanah is eager to prove her value in the Lodge. Each character has their own little world and their attributes shine when looking there.

It's coming 2025. It was suppose to come out many times already. But the pandemic and all that muffed up the development cycle. Recent CONFIRMED reports told us that GTA VI has missed MULTIPLE deadlines, but is now on track for 2025. Thats why i dont think it will be delayed. It technically has been delayed internally multiple times already. Probably more than GTA V and RDR2 ever was

I played the game when it was release it on PC. Despite the bugs and the bad performance. It became one of my fav games. The concept, the graphics, the story, the artstyle, for me is simply amazing. Forbidden West was great too. I fall in love of the lore. Words cannot describe it!

Very much love that you're bringing positive attention to the Horizon franchise, but I just have to say this. I am gonna rant about this so sorry in advance. Horizon is my TOP favourite game ever (actually, of all media), and it's 100% not because of the gameplay. I enjoy it, but I've never really been a combat person or a completionist. What I love is the worldbuilding and the characters, especially in Forbidden West. I can understand the characters lacking something in Zero Dawn, which makes sense because Aloy is very focused on herself in ZD. But to say that they didn't improve at all in Forbidden West? I'd say that's dead wrong. You have a much better understanding of who they all are, what they stand for and what their relationships to each other are. I love that in FW you can talk to the group after every main quest and even talk to them about certain side quests, getting updates about what's going on while you're away. Ig I'm gonna bring up a fewww many spoilers now. Varl is a sweetheart who acts as a big brother to Aloy and wants to do everything he can to help her cause. He sees through Aloy's attempts to push him away and knows she needs help, and he does really well in keeping an open mind and accepting change to his previous, striiiccctt Nora beliefs. He's also the only one who *really* reaches out to Beta. Erend is loyal as HELL (and is totally in love with Aloy). He was upset that she left at the end of ZD and clearly has a lot of self esteem and alchohol issues which he's working on, but he will ALWAYS be there for his friends when they need him. Zo really has to battle between the Utaru's beliefs and traditions, and her own conscience of what she thinks is the right thing to do. She's caring and thoughtful and also looks out for Beta a bit. Kotallo put his worth on being a Marshial, and once that was taken away from him he lost sight of his own worth. He's bitter and cold at the start, but he warms up to the group soon enough and finds a new cause to be loyal to, having an arc in accepting his lost arm. Alva starts out a bit like Varl, with tight beliefs that she can't unsee at first. But gradually she learns to accept new information that her tribe would throw her out for seeing. Through her stresses of what they might do and about seeing her family and lover again, she's always bubbly and kind to her friends. Beta is an awesome addition and I have to believe that you weren't talking about her when you said they didn't improve because her arc of realising she's not broken and developing a bond with Aloy is SO beauiful (oh and I just have to add the choice of MUSIC for those scenes, how they have two different voices that sing their separate themes and when they finally come to an understanding the voices start to sing in unison??! I LOVE IT) Ok and yeah there's a bunch more characters I love but I can't talk about everyone without doing an actual essay... Point is they have so much to them, and I guess if you don't find them interesting it's anyone's own preference but I just have to reiterate that it is my favourite aspect of the game so from some perspectives it is really well done! EDIT: OH WAIT and one more thing, although we didn't see much of Rost, I've found that replaying the game after hearing his story from Teersa really made me love him so much more to the point that I feel an actual pit in my stomach when I see his sacrifice. He's beautifully written for having such a small part in the game. (thx for reading if you got this far 😭)

I agree with you, the storytelling in this game is incredible but the sequels just failed to reach the mark...

Even at the 12th play thru you can go grab sheild armor and mine out some blue gems wepons to make it feel different.

I like it. It seems to throw more story into the assassin's creed series maps. You feel like there is a reason to do stuff because of the writing instead of more map overdose that some games have the story really makes the samwitchgo down better..

After installing the original on a second hand PS5, I got surprised by a message that the remaster is only 10€! It looks amazing! Now I play it again from the begining on Hard.

I strongly disagree about the characters being boring. Aloy to Rost to Erend to Varl are all amazing and wacky in their own way. Erend is a drunk that loves Aloy but knows she will never return the feelings and he has a job to do.

The remastered made me go back and play it again, renewing just how much I love this game. Now, it's simply stunning to look at!

Same. I unconditionally love Horizon franchise as well. It's one of those very few games to exist that feel like they were made for me. I was surprised when they announced Remaster but I was looking forward and I love it as well. Gave me an excuse to replay HZD which I wanted to do. The story, deep lore and how massive the worldbuilding is especially what I unconditionally love it. I have to disagree about characters. Aloy is flawed and struggles a lot and I appreciate that. I also can't agree about side-characters being shallow. I grew very fond of Olin and Varl especially (Petra was great too) and I was very glad to see them (and others) in HFW.

I also spend most of my time just walking and looking around...right into some hiding bandits....love it.

Even if you don't like the game, there's no point in hating games like this. It's obvious that a lot of love and passion went into it. And it should be worth it for developers to create new IPs with new stories and worlds. Almost everything these days is based on established franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc... Yes, it hasn't revolutionized world building and quest design, but the story is very original, the graphics are impressive and the art direction is outstanding. And most importantly, the combat gameplay is fun! At least in my opinion. Great video btw!

I mean.. S&S ch 2 had bugs.. its not impossible. I think behemoth may not be perfect upon release.. but thats kinda par for the course. Im waiting till the physical comes out in Feb anyways so.. if they need some patches or a delay.. its okay

The title of this video is wierd. Why is it so cool to hate things nowadays? So much so that saying "I can't hate" this thing is how we complement things now. LOL

I am a massive zero dawn fan but forbidden west story is not at all good . aloy is so annoying self centered , talks down to people 1st game though it had pacing problem is far better.

Aloy's writing is a problem in HZD but Forbidden West is all about her interpersonal problems. It's exactly that kind of attitude she showed in ZD and during the first third of Forbidden West that kickstarts her character arc, which causes serious repercussions

I just played HZD Remastered for the first time. Beautiful game, the world's mysteries are great and fun to uncover, great monster design. The high resolution really makes it one of those games you use to show off your gaming setup. But the endless dialogue, absolutely overabundance of resource management, in part poor world building made 50% of the game a slog to play. My inventory was full all the time, I always had to take a break to craft new ammo. Stuff like that just isn't fun imo. The mysteries are fun in concept, but they are mostly solved in long lore dumps which are disconnected from the rest of the game. Aloy doesn't talk about her discoveries to anyone except for Silence. This makes most of her discoveries feel inconsequential, since she keeps most of her new intel to herself, reinforcing an even bigger disconnect between the game world and the story. And on top of that, I really do feel like some scenes have terrible colours. Especially in Meridia and the desert you get scenes that are way too bright and got way too much red. I got some screen captures where the entire screen is a super bright rusty red. The details are spectacular, but the colours and the contrast are especially hit or miss. Combat started to click in the latter third of the game for me. Taking down large monsters, part by part, while strategically targeting it's weapons and weakspots was great. It was however difficult to learn these weaknesses as scanning with the focus mid fight was near impossible. This means that you either need to prepare every encounter or awkwardly pause and change your equipment and read up on weakspots mid fight. The strong art direction and intriguing mysteries kept me coming back. But there was more than one instance where I considered dropping the game again. Oh and that Super Hard mode difficulty setting is ridiculously stupid on a new game. The balancing on that one was way off.

Ive been going back n forth with the remaster and the OG PS4 version.. the lip synching is definitely an oversight or a low priority in the project It takes me out of the immersion but it still is an overall better experience since the mo cap dialogues are fantastic mostly Edit. Side note. I def can see the fidelity upgrade on a 75" 4k TV sitting 7ft away.. but its minor and difficult to say definitively what is better about that slight resolution.. i play on balanced

Only made it 3 quarters through my original play through.Then beat it and the DLC twice.Am about to beat it a third time.Currently in the Frozen Wilds then to the final mission.Game has been a blast.

Bought the remaster upgrade and kind of miss the original version. Just prefer the look better. Not sure if I can turn back on PS5.

Great review. It's one of my favorite franchises ever. But I'm a bit confused with your last sentence saying that if you're a new player paying full price you don't recommend it and you recommend playing the sequel instead why? I feel completly opposite the game is totally worth it if you haven't experienced the game before, you get a lot of technical and quality in life improvements with the remaster and you even get an amazing dlc on top of that. The first game is also essential for undestanding much of the plot of the story. I definitely think it's worth it for new players.

I will disagree a bit on the Alloy is too perfect of a protagonist. Shd has treats of a protagonists sure, but I found her too arrogant at times which brings consequences to people around her, especially in forbidden west. And obviously with the story telling she brings her ego down while advancing with the plots. For the characters around her, I agree they seem robotics and sometimes useless they often try to submit to alloy just like that except for Silas, for me he was one of the mysterious character and I loved that suspence he brought, he doesn't have as much focus as alloy, I found it like a miss opportunity but I love the fact that he was kinda the only person who seems practically ahead of Alloy with a sense of selfishiness, not the over philanthropic side of every protagonist. He had kindnest and darknest at the right amount. But overall nice video I love most of the points you touched on, keep it up 💯

Horizon praise ? thats gonna be a like from me, totally underrated franchise caught in the most infortunate and unfair narratives in current gaming.

Bought the 10$ upgrade and loved it. One of my top 10 games on the ps5 including forbidden west.

Can you please do a personal review on the original PS4 version ? I heard it got a PS5 patch where the game can be played in 4K@60FPS via backwards compatibility

$10 for a graphic upgrade is nothing to be honest... it's a fair price. If you remember Fifa or other mtx it's far...far...worse.

There’s nothing to hate, all the extra work they did with dialogue & punching up the cutscenes with NPC makes this feel like a new game & for the graphics you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between zero dawn & forbidden west

it always feels like these games are at the center of controversy and makes it so hard to talk about them. because aloy is "ugly" and talks to herself, because it's a bloated genre, because breath of the wild is "better," because sony advertises it a lot (a successful well-reviewed game? getting advertised???), because maybe these games are actually *too* pretty , etc. now there's gonna be a clone by chinese game company tencent. as someone who doesn't like most open world games, i love these ones. they're fun, very very pretty, have good lore, and good characters (especially in the sequel). i wish i knew why it doesn't click for others.

I lasted 2 hours in the game that's all I hate the Ubisoft formula the design of the machines is cool but the characters are shit this game is overrated.

I bought a PS4 slim for it and that Was my first gaming experience since 2007! It was like a different universe! The last game that I played bevore was stalker 1, I was flashed for 100+ hours. I am so glad they remastered it (dont get the Hype), because they pimped the only downsides to the game (dialog etc). Cant wait for the third part and I am a bit sad, that the mmo from this franchise will be next. Thx for the video, we feel the same in case of the game ❤
