    What Dr Frankl expresses so passionately on sex is true. What Dr Frankl expresses so passionately on meaning in life, so very true. He came to such wisdom on his own, before his studies. As would every one of us were we not followers of words of others rather than our own life experiences. Wisdom is the same in any and every age. Humans keep trying to re-invent the wheel, all the way to the bank. Thank you for posting this precious video.

    What an expansive view of humans. I love his emphasis on personal responsibility and our obligation to make responsible choices. Sounds like a plain speaking recipe for living a moral life. Without actually saying it Dr. Frankl is basically saying something like ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

      I don’t know about the first sentence, maybe he meant to exist. However with the second sentence I think he meant with ediple situation, as an Oidipal situation. As the analogy of Oidipus relating to Freudian psychology is an essential metaphor to explain how children interact with their parents. And God being perceived by some as a father figure is linked therefore how people could think of him in an oidipal way. Maybe.

    • @Robloxman226

      "The Oedipal situation." It refers to one of Sigmund Freud's theories about childhood development.

    • @TokyoShemp
      @TokyoShemp 6 месяцев назад

      @@JefPeeples It's only unusual if there is deception involved, say with most of the big names in social media including Joe Rogan. They are who were referred to in Snowden documents. Unfortunately, people like yourself are so wrapped up in a conditioned life, you miss what is right there in front of anyone paying attention to how things are being said rather than the content which McLuhan said had been rendered irrelevant by the medium. We're all being played. Everything is being scripted by military and you are fixated on yourself and your status and that's how things are fixed and rigged because people like you who should know better are as naive as most other random people. It's very frustrating no one with reach seems to have authenticity and agency or free thought. All rigged. If someone can't speak without a script, there's not one thing special about you guys. Sorry. I am smarter than you, for one person, and I am on the fringe outside of society due to autism. But I still got a Master's in social theory from UCC Cork Ireland and know exactly what is going on.

    Listening and obeying your conscience; what is one’s path, and one’s duty and response-ability. It does not contradict dharma. He guides people to deep awareness of our relationship to the world and devotion to greater values based in compassion and truth, in a secular environment. I think Frankl is a holy man in disguise.

    Indeed, the same as what psychologist Oliver Sacks mentioned in his famous book, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, regarding the purpose and use of psychology, it is questionable and debatable that psychology should only be used to identify people's weaknesses, deficits and problems. Besides curing diseases and diagnosing psychological diseases, psychology is just as capable of highlighting individual strengths and improving our lives for the better, just as Martin Seligman is doing. This is what we need!

    If it is a “…Way of talk” then so is the Ken who thinks he is talking, describing/ascribing what he is ascribing/describing as are these words here dear reader that you are positioning “your self” in relation to, ad infinitum. The universe creeps up on itself and says, “Boo!” Ah! now I know why Shiva has many arms! How else would the divine Lila (play) unfold? Or simply, in the words of R.D.Laing, from his book, “Knots.”, “The moon is a finger pointing to itself. I think I’ll suck it for comfort!”

    I also don't believe in an afterlife. And personally, I don't find the necessary reasons to believe whether there is one or not. As for me, it is by focusing on the present i.e trying my best every single day and knowing I'm making progress toward my goal, and cherishing the little bits of joy along the way, that I find life to be fulfilling, worthwhile and filled with happiness.

This simple illustration demonstrates what is going on for them. Richard Wiseman is a life enhancer helping us to understand what we do and who we are.

    I am glad to hear this comment by Dr. Frankl that humor is most therapeutic, as well as person ridiculing their own psychological symptoms, phobias, etc., as part of their healing process. This sounds like an easier and more immediate way of obtaining the results of sensory or emotional detachment from ego; results similar to the lengthy dharana process in yoga meditation. In other words, observing and disciplining (or self-directing without moralistic judgment) the ego, or false ego, while building and promoting the true or upgraded self through meaning (responding to life) and then being. I was at first surprised that Frankl would minimize the importance of self-actualization, but now I understand that the self-actualization is a byproduct of creation in response to life circumstances and giving of oneself, or "losing oneself" (the death of ego.) This approach is diametrically opposed to escapism because it encourages one to remain engaged and down to earth with the life's challenges. Just hearing about this is therapeutic in itself. Thank you for sharing!

      it's a conversation. do you say this to your dinner guests at the end of the evening "thanks for coming but you got less interesting over dessert and down right tedious over chess". It was a conversation not a lecture and people had attention spans then and they also wanted some room to think in conversation and to allow for spontaneous thought ant utterance-- but possibly the youtube is better for your advice to posters on how to edit content that they do not own or control anyway . . .it's not this posters position to edit this conversation you know.
