I also identified as bisexual (90% women, 10% men lol) before reading comphet and that really opened my eyes. I think there's also a stigma about just simply being called a lesbian which may be why some women are just hesitant to jump ship. I'm just glad being lesbian isn't linked to being "masc" or "butch" exclusively anymore and more representation are coming out on social media (lipstick lezzies, chapsticks, soft butch, etc) so more people can be educated about it.

Ate Yani and I share a point in our childhood na sinasabihan na tomboy daw. Very siga ako maglakad, di ako kikay (only recently) and I just acted very siga in general. Pero ate Yani's experience is very different from me because unlike her, nag boyfriend ako and that killed the gay allegations. Pero, as we speak, I identify as a bisexual, just like ate, only difference is I'm more into men. Ate Yani's point doon sa seperating friends is SOOO spot on. I have two "circles" that I'd love to keep seperated. One are my queer friends and the other are my straight male friends. Unlike ate Yani, I on the other hand does not feel attraction to women as much as I do with men-parang like she said "okay na 'ko sa presence mo" (but not with the salita part) is me with women. Like I admire them a lot, I fall in love with them pero I cannot pursue a relationship with them. Di naman ako takot to pursue a woman, it's just that di lang ako nagri-reach sa level that I do with men. Due to being boyish kasi, most of my friends are men. Hanggang ngayon, I still struggle to interact with the same sex na parang feeling ko, women are an unrealistic ideal that I cannot have (maraming factors diyan, aside sa ating very hetero-promoting society, mayroon din akong insecurities) All I can say is as a society, we should stop being so heteronormative (wow??? Big words) and learn to accept that we, as humans have the capacity to be attracted to anyone we like. And btw, yes, ako yung nakasalubong mo sa LB that talked about dating afams exclusively (kaya i am unfazed with the UPLB stereotype) 😂😂

love this topic kasi it’s rarely talked about talaga especially comphet in the philippines. even though we have been slowly progressing na as a society people still have the tendency to treat “comphet” as something lesbians experience lang pero parang it’s much more prominent pa nga to the bisexual women i know ehh. very telling as to how embedded parin ang religious guilt and internal homophobia but this vid helps a lot in opening up that convo!
