CHEVY II NOVA - Early Hardtop Door Glass Stops How to Tell Them Apart!
~~1962 - 65 Chevy II / Nova: 2 Door Coupes & Convertibles~~
In this video I show original GM 1962 - 65 Nova sport coupe / convertible glass stops and how they interact with the window track (sash). Hopefully this will provide some clarity on how they install and assist you in ID'ing these parts at swap meets or eBay.
Be aware GM used numerous different door glass stops across cars in the 1960s into the '70s. The design of the stops vary with body style, as well as the generational changes of the doors - 1st gen is different than 2nd gen is different than 3rd gen, etc.
Sport coupes and convertibles are where the differences really come into play, the doors not having a full glass frame. These...

In this video I compare an original GM GUIDE tail lamp brake lens with a non-GUIDE reproduction. I also topically cover what GUIDE means and...

      You have a 1966 - 67 Chevy II 100 Series glove box door then which does not have trim holes. (Or you have the reproduction). I talk about them about 30 seconds into the video.

    On the 66, The SS and 400 series emblem holes are different correct ??

    • @NorthwestNova
      @NorthwestNova Месяц назад

      Sorry for taking so long to reply. You have probably already figured this out. The 400 emblem has 3 studs, the SS emblem 6. The SS emblem uses the 3 stud holes the 400 uses, plus 3 additional. There should be 6 small "circles" on the back of the plastic trim where the emblem holes are to be drilled. A 400 door cover will need 3 holes drilled out for an SS emblem. An SS door cover will have too many holes for a 400 emblem.

    Excellent details you are giving. I had 4 on back order and received all 4. They look great at a distance but you have given exactly what issues they have. I had slight fitment problems and the speed nuts would not draw it in to eliminate the gaps. I ended up using my original speed nuts and they drew the piece right in with no gap. All were slightly off with the curve needed for the trunk.

      @NorthwestNova Год назад

      The provided speed nuts are completely inadequate for this application. Reusing the originals or finding good replacements is the way to go. Or threading the studs and using more traditional nuts. Someone will end up over tightening one of these to match the curve of their truck and snap something.
