Thank you!!!! it worked to push my broken latch in. It seems like the opposite of what you would do but I had removed knobs and even tried removing the hinges but the door wood not budge. I came upon your video and I tried pushing in the metal piece / latch in toward the frame and it worked!!!! Love that you got to the point and it did the job!!!

Couldn't get the door to open with this idea because mine didn't look exactly like this...was pushing and all but didn't work. SO - I took the handle off another door...put that handle in the middle thing and it opened the door.
