🦁" #南狮 "，流行于中国南方广东一带。说是有一头怪兽，到处吃乡农的收成，但不伤人畜，常发出"年年"之声，人们便称为"👹 #年兽 👹"，年兽眼大口阔，头有触角，性格善良。乡农视之为圣兽，不敢捕杀，后村民以爆竹之嘈杂声吓走了"年兽"，民间复加平静。村民互相向亲友祝贺，并定这天为"新年"，象征新的开始。从此，每逢新年，民间以竹仿制"年兽"，烧爆竹，派红封。 然而上面这个故事仅仅是南方年兽的故事翻版，故事当中也有许多矛盾之处，也不符合岭南一带的故事风格。另一个从老一辈传下来故事倒比较符合醒狮的传说。相传远古(也有说是清乾隆年间)南海一带发生了瘟疫，死人无数。瘟疫发生不就久之后，就有一只神兽出现，人们称之为"年兽"。年兽所过的地方，瘟疫很快就消失了。由于年兽给人们带来很大的好处，因此老百姓变制作"年兽"，配合鼓乐，在各家门口前舞蹈，以镇妖驱邪。由于年兽喜欢吃青菜，所以家家户户都在门前放一盘青菜，吸引年兽到来，以备年兽采食。由于年兽像传说中的 #狮子 模样，所以称为为" #瑞狮 "。由于在粤语当中"瑞"跟"睡"是谐音，叫睡狮不吉利，按照广东人避讳习惯，将睡改为醒，因此就叫了" #醒狮 "。🦁

I grew up in Oakville. Have not been to this mall in at least 23 years. Decided to look it up tonight and yours was the first video. Used to be a computer store that sold Neo geo systems in the 90’s on the second floor. Stores have changed a lot.
