Thanks for listening! I love John Williams' playing
Love it!
Thanks for the comment! This series (For No Reason Friday) is going to go up to Episode 100 and then I am planning on a new thing. Appreciate it, Levi!
Excellent Rendition of Dead or Alive!
Thanks again!
you can remove all the noise very easy with todays software
Yes, that's correct. Thanks for listening to the podcast
There is a huge divide of teachers and players that are hugely divided on Chris. I think the guy was the greatest sounding player that ever lived in these early 60-70s recordings. People complain about his technique, method book… yada yada, but JUST LISTEN. It’s unimpeachable! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the comment. Yes on all that you said, for sure!
❤
Thanks a lot
Great !❤
Thanks much for the comment.
Right on bro, nice
Thanks for the visit
Interesting concept (overdubbing.) Two other interesting examples that come to mind is John Williams' "Echoes of London" album, which contains a couple of duos with himself and Julian Bream's recording of Bocherini's fandango on two guitars.
Thanks for listening, appreciate the comment
Segovia was a terrific artist and maybe the most relevant classical guitarist of all time, but he we was a terrible human being. The way he (mis)treated his Brazilian partner Olga Praguer Coelho and his son was atrocious and evil. From things like that I can understand why there could be a rift between him and Williams.
You should read the JW autobiography "Strings Attached". The rift is explained fairly well in the early chapters of the text. thanks for listening
Another Laurindo Almeida gem. I like your podcast. Keep it up!
He's one of my favorites, and I have copies of his work on LP. Thanks again
Sadly a large part of Almeida's catalog was never reissued in CD. Thank you for making this recording (and many others) available. Subscribed.
He's awesome, that's for sure
It is "Tarragó" with the emphasis on the trailing 'ó'. Renata Tarragó was a remarkable performer, worth noting and remembering. She played without nails which was rare and unusual for the 20th century. She was the first woman to have recorded Rodrigo's Aranjuez (a recording of her performing _Concierto de Aranjuez_ is available on RUclips).
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate your insight
I would prefer the "pops and crackles" to the electronic processing and cleaning; that was the authentic LP sound and the closest to the truth. I would dispute Williams' lack of expression -- these were "studies" and were played as such; during Sor's time there were not too many guitarists who could play them well or play them at all. Segovia was jealous of any musician who may have threatened his deserved or less deserved first place in the guitar world. So, I wouldn't be surprised of the animosity. Thank you for sharing, this was a worthwhile effort!
Thanks for your insight (again). Glad to have you listening!
Well as it is on RUclips you are in fact hearing the digital not analog
Right, exactly. Thanks again for the commenting
I could loop that and play for hours
Please do that!
Thank you very much for your wonderfully clear demonstration
Thanks. Please reach out if you would like any further commentary

Happy birthday Nadia!
Thanks Tom!
Hello. This album was what got me into studying classical guitar. I did 4 years of classical guitar while I lived in Caracas. I actually studied with one of the disciples of Antonio Lauro. I never go to meet him though as he passed away before I could do so. Regaring Alirio Diaz; I was told by my teacher that he had really big hands and that he was extremelly fast. Over the years I have gotten to play the four Venezuelan waltzez as well as "Recuerdos de la alhambra", amongst other. I was wondering if you might have the sheet music for the Sojo song "guaso"? I have searched for it for years to no avail. Thank you
Thanks for your comment. I am not aware that I have the song "guaso" in my library. I will make a note and check it out
@@Powellguitar Thanks for your reply. Just two days ago I finally found the real name of the song. It's called "Mi Teresa". It seems it is not a song by V.E. Sojo but rather a transcription of a traditional Venezuelan song. I have found a version in E major but the version played in the album mentioned in my previous remark is in A. Best regards
My favorite Classical Guitar Album!❤
Wonderful, I am glad that I reviewed the record. Her El Colibri is OUTSTANDING
