Hi all, Australian, into motorbikes, push bikes, adventure and fun, and when time allows some editing of videos. Purchased my first bike in 2004, with ADV plans, a little before the LWR came out and the world exploded in that area. I have been fortunate and experienced riding and adventure in a few parts of the world, still very much enjoy a basic commute and mini outing.
Quarry MTB Park - Footscray - Downhill Mountain Bike Park
Riding out to the Footscray - Quarry Mountain Bike Park, and a quick first run on the three 'Runs'. Views are awesome, area is open with a great range of sport and chill areas. The lower area has a Pump Track, with several loops, Skills area and options for the return back up hill. I am using a 7 month old, 2022 Model, Merida E160 - 500. The E-Bike does the down hill on point, extra weight adds a little challenge, but the up hill runs are a treat. On the last part of the Black run I did find a touch of mud, joys of just running it and not doing a sighting lap.. Rookie mistake.

Summit Ski Blade with Colltex Skins test - Mount Saint Gwinear

Undertook a test up at Mount Saint Gwinear, using a pair of Summit Ski Blades, with some Colltex skins I adapted to fit. Rode up on the BMW 310GS and then set my self up to give it a go. Wore the BMW riding pants through the 6 KM loop, toping out at the summit, then back down. Had some minor issue with an over extended thigh muscle from MX the day before. Skis with skins worked excellent, down ...

BMW G310GS in the snow Riding up to Mt Erica for a short Ski

Riding my 2023 BMW G310GS up to Mt Erica in Victoria, loaded up with Ski gear, Rescue and revery gear. A little over 6hours of storm riding, but worth it once up in the snow. Coming back out, bike was on, engine off and ABS thus not getting int he way of control. I am a fan of the ABS, one of the few times I would not use it. Good that you can get a few guys together from that group..I tried here in SA but zero interest..new sub 👍
Cheers and maybe try some adventure groups based in SA.. or reach out to the CRF300l side as well
Gold medal ride
Low clouds or high elevation
Guess a bit of both.. Mt Macedon is up a little
BMW needs to come out with a 500cc GS and take note of the 450MT and market direction.
There does seem to be lots of whispers out there
How did I get suggested a video with <100 views of something I've seen in person 20 years ago. Wild algorithm.
And from a time when algorithms were not a thing…
And from a time when algorithms were not a thing…
Now there's something you don't see every day 👍
Thanks for this comparison. I still remember seeing the KLX650 in magazines and showrooms when they were in production. Some years later when I was old enough for a license, I bought a KLX250. It was a great learner bike. I also like the KLX450r in particular given it can still be bought new and the old school tech (carb, no abs,tcs assists etc) really appeals to me as well as a backup kickstart as I've been left stranded a couple times due to dead batteries. Always seems to happen when you're riding alone and at the bottom of a gully or in soft sand. What can you say about the maintenance schedule/reliability of the KLX450r? The maintenance schedule looks pretty intense, but I imagine that's more for racing use.
The KLX450r, has a much more enduro maintenance schedule, according to the ‘book’ its a new piston at 1500km, how ever i suspect this might be if used for race / events, its not going to enjoy the open highway, sustained speed, in my opinion, but for inner Urban, bush/trailer single track, and time at the MX track its on point. Simple, design, minor changes in 2010, and graphics etc since then, bunch of crew have set them up as an ADV option, although i have not, and the KLX650 works a treat on the open highway, Motard set up, and the bush, similar in many ways to the DR650, given the low tech set up. Large tank and good to go.
J.juan brakes on the CFmoto are a Spanish company owned by Brembo... they're not Chinese made.
Very interesting seeing the two bikes side by side like that. Think the 450 mt is the obvious choice for me now I’m trading in my big bikes for something a lot lighter and more nimble, who knows it maybe the unicorn we’ve been waiting for.
It could well be, The MT does fill lots and lots of riding areas
Excellent, comprehensive comparison. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!, thank you
Great video - thanks v much - would have been nice to see the knobblies on the MT
Interesting comparison. I have a modified g310gs with level 2 rally raid suspension etc...and I have a great time with it...but if I were buying a small adv bike again, I can't help but think the 450mt would be a no brainer. Do you think the 450mt offers enough to switch from your g310...or would you be looking at something more than the 450mt as a next bike?
I think side by side, there is about $600 diff to out towards the GS, and it will come down to comfort with shape/size of the bike, if ok with a longer bigger bike the MT, smaller / nimble the GS. As a solo rider the GS would get into less trouble, in a group ride perhaps the MT has more range/challenging potential…
How is/different the GS with the stage 2 and I am hissing the 20mm lift?
@ausetour500 as I am a taller rider, it sounds like the mt would've been a great option in this price and size range...but modding the g310 to work well for me has been a hoot! No regrets.
@ausetour500 the level 2 Rally Raid kit is a huge improvement over the standard bike. I don't think it's so much the extra travel and height, but more the improved spring rates and rear damper. I would say, yes, you are missing out... but it's then a question of how much you would miss the $2k. For me, I was bottoming out easily in rougher off-road stuff. Now, I can confidently get air under the wheels and land with only the rarest of bottom out events.
@@adthar9340very excellent to hear, cheers
Is that their demo bike😂

@@ausetour500 Happy with the MT450? Ordering one this week
@@twowheelin7361 hi, weird typo Before, both bikes are great, little differences for their own strengths.
great trail in the forest ! horrible noise of this 310 gs
The joy of so many bikes and so many set ups, is each person gets their own opinion, their own set up and adventure :-)
@@ausetour500 100 % agree
How heavy is this bike please?
I'm going to test ride one tomorrow, I'll be using for commuting and I have a couple of large hills to traverse. Are you still happy with it?
apologies, I am quite behind. I was happy up until the frame cracked, a touch under 6000kms, how ever the current frame looks good, and is covered for 3 years with warranty
what kind of range are you getting from this ebike? specs claim 70km-100km+... is that true in real life?
@@ausetour500 thanks for your reply, I'll go for a test ride... it looks like a nice bike and ticks all the boxes
ruclips.net/video/w_r5p75SWf4/видео.html
How is the bike going? I wa s pretty much settled at buying a drz 400 until I phoned the dealership and he told me all the specs on this one i hav never heard of a smw before
He told me a couple month ago he still had it and she was doing well. Go ride one. Light years better than a DRZ
@@Dashriprock4 thanks mate 👍
So beautiful!
Still own her? If so how is it holding up??
I do, it’s going really well, less riding due to lock down through Covid. But still ticking all the boxes
@@ausetour500 here in the States I got lots of riding in during our lockdown. 😁
@@Dashriprock4 very fortunate for sure.. here in Melbourne we had quite a lot of stay home orders in effect, now we can get out though
Torque rating for motor?
Great question, the motor has 85.Nm i the Torque rating, Works well when heading uphill ride park.
ruclips.net/video/EconIqhFedc/видео.html
I saw you have the touring version of the T-rex from your other video. Did you just remove the mudguards and rack to ride as a mountain bike? How was it?
I did, I wanted to try down hill and a more free-riding dirt trails,, works really well, easy to swap back and forward between layouts. Was a heap of fun.
Love from Nepal 🇳🇵
Any downsides from your experience with the bike so far?
The bike has been good, I have done 2,600kms (1,400 miles ish) so far, the pannier rack had a crack early, swapped under warranty in 2 days even in Covid conditions, and that’s about it, keeping an eye on bolts and over all maintenance when doing many kms and on/off road riding.
This bike cost in my country is Rs. 1800,000 lakhs 😩😩
It’s a solid chunk of money, it a good bike for the purpose :-)
Hey mate, good vid. What’s the top speed like and on road handling? Comfortable at 100km if it gets that? Interested in one, Thanks.
With current stock gearing it is a little over 100kph, with stock / MX knobbes it’s ok, but Regina high and a little loose underfoot, how ever sprocket change/ motard rims / AT style rubber could change up a bit
Make a intro
Great review. Hope there's a follow up long term use review later on
Hi, do you still own this bike? If so, did you have any issues with it? How many hours/km have you ridden till now? thx
I do still own it, no problems so far :-), I will have a look when I am home and see how many km’s :-) less riding the last 6 months due to Covid, adverse 1 ride per week to keep it ticking over and fun in the city
A little over 2,100 km travelled so far :-)
can you do a video about a Macgreger 26m ?

They will be here in the US Spring of 2019, or so they say and the website say the price is $7,495.
I'm shopping for one now here in California. But I do wish the seat height would be in 35" range.
Looks like a great ride.... How much was it and what is your currency? What is the top speed that it is comfortable running on the highway for long periods of time?
is it too loud ?
