Philippe Partridge è un compositore colto e raffinato. Lo dimostra questo estratto sublime del suo "Stabat Mater" che considero un capolavoro assoluto. Rendono giustizia a questa bellissima esecuzione un'ottima registrazione ed una magistrale direzione dell'orchestra.

A superb performance, outstanding clarity of both instruments and voices, with an unusually polished soprano soloist. The fact that it's live is awesome, and I wish I had heard this earlier. This is an excellent representation of North Brabant's cultural traditions. Fond regards from Washington DC USA. 🙂

At the risk of sounding insane, I’d have to say that this is by far my favourite Stabat Mater of all time, because it is the most moving in its simplicity and hypnotic repetitiveness. By not trying to shine with his musical abilities, Ambiela understood and served the text far better than Pergolesi, Vivaldi or Poulenc, for example.

Extraordinary.

I have been waiting to find a nice recording of this for years. I was in the 2001 choir, and singing this piece was a transcendent experience. Much thanks to Jing Ling-Tam for planning and attempting this piece with our group. Also, this took place in Savannah, USA rather than Arlington, USA. Also, it is missing the rest of the ending, the beautifully comforting arrival to paradise. Overall, I hope we did a good job, and I hope anybody listening enjoys this incredible piece of choral music.
