Eff john John deere
i feel your pain with the covington planter. i bough a brand new one the start of spring and have had to plant and replant bc i cant get it to plant correctly. im putting mine up for sale too.
Thanks for this video. I am looking to at one of these tractors to assist with my hay operation, lifting 4x5 round bales and running a rake. That and utility purposes and second tractor.
@@8080CD I've got mine back to the dealer to see if they can get it to turn when it's got anything in the bucket. I don't think all of them have a issue but mine certainly does
My Brother in law's (little) John Deer had no fender storage, so we just bolted a toolbox to the fender. There are some nice bolt holes on your frame if you want to mount some kind of protection for your steering arm and hydraulic hoses.
Hello, I need to buy a disc for that corn planter, where do you buy them?
Why on earth wouldn’t a 60hp tractor be able to pull a two bottom plow? Hydro or gear…
@@Nobody-c6g I couldn't tell you why a 60 HP tractor wouldn't pull a 2 bottom plow. But undoubtedly the horses that Kubota uses must be Shetland ponies....
How do you like the YT359 vs Kubota L4060? Have actually been cross shopping those two some
Well I'll tell you now the 4060 is no where near as strong as this yt 359. That being said do yourself a favor and get a 60 horse JD 4r series. I wouldn't give my 4520 power reverser jd for any Kubota or yanmar in the same class. There's so many Little things on the Kubota and yanmar that's just not well thought out or implemented . They are good reliable tractors but there not as good overall as a JD.
How do you like the thumb?
I don't to be honest.
How big a ripper are you able to run off this model? Also was your 2 bottom a 16”?
I pulled a 6 ft ripper the other the other day. It's got all the pulling power you need. The plow was a 2 disk JD from the 50s I believe a 472 I'm not sure on the width but the disks are probably 24"
It was a disk plow so I'm not sure
I hear you about the tractors. Does it make sense to not have tractors but get a mule to do all the soil work?
Jeff where do you get athe seed hopper and assembly from . I what one for my 140
Well I got it from a guy in ohattchi in Alabama. I ended up selling the whole rig tractor and all . I can put you in touch with the guy , he has a ton of Farmall stuff
How's it holding up? Do you prefer it over a john deere?
I prefer the Deere to be honest.
Thank you for posting
Love seeing that A plant, makes me wish mine was running. Did you have any luck with the silver queen? We grew it a couple years ago and it didn't taste good.
How is the 485 holding up?
It's been doing good. I do have a cylinder that leaks. But overall it's been fine
what kind/brand of tiller is that by the way ?
I believe it's a Taylor way
You won't find many John Deere in the Rolling Hills of Kentucky anymore. The spider gears done killed too many guys. With Kubota Engine transmission and steering trouble, you don't see a whole lot of them now either. You see an awful lot of blue tractors out there now. And there's always a red and black ones LOL.
Virgin ground is always best! I plan to get the cab version in near future, Mainly for my old dad.
Does it come with tilt steering?
Yes
Yes sir
Thanks. I actually test drove a YT347 rental unit at my dealer. I will say that I’m very impressed with it. Got to move some dirt while I was there. The tilt steering allows for a ton of room when it’s all the way forward when entering and exiting the tractor.
I like truck gardening I enjoy the cheapness it takes to get into it
Me too. You can fam an acre with a large tiller and grow truckloads of food.
Thanks for making content on the YT359. Great tractor.
It's over all a good machine but it's not a John Deere. I will be posting more videos of the yt359 doing ground engagement type stuff
I grew up on a B and a C. The C had all the implements that you needed to run a farm with.
Thanks for sharing. I rigged up a Cole Duplex planter to plant some corn almost 2 months ago with my father in laws Super AV. It was pieced together and did a good job. I would like to make a more stable set-up like this one, as mine would try to tilt over and depth control was a problem. This is almost like a 3 point system except that the lift chain allows it to float. I bought a Super A a few weeks later and got Farmall 200 planter that goes under the belly. Is that what you have and this system is better? Thanks, Ken
We had the belly planter. It did work and plant plenty of rows without too much headache but it wasn’t near as good as the Cole going behind the tractor
Own and used 4 or so Covington's over the years. Buy junk ones, rebuild and use, sell and repeat. Set up can be confusing but once you get the process figured out they work well. That being said your Cole set-up is crazy simple and effective. Good job!
I agree .
All in all it's a nice tractor heavy duty.
Pulling a disc harrow is nothing hard for a tractor. Now pulling mold board or bottom plow is on another level.
I wouldn't want to attempt it with a 4060 Kubota
What seed plate did you use
Just needed a good spotter he was right there halfway through vid
Nice tractor. Noticed not using the auto steer & GPS.
Cole planet jr is a better planter, I tried the mx 12, and the IH duplex, but liked the planet jr the best.
Nice tractor sir, I own a planter like this. One suggestion I'll give you, get you a gauge wheel for the Cole planter. 13 in front bottom of the tool bar. It works flawless for me.
Very good video thanks
Tractor looking and sounds great!
I never had any luck with my cole planter
U have the same Cole planter that's in the video?
@@brian_2040 Yes I do. In order for the rear wheel to turn I needed to have the planter sloped down so much in the back, that when I lifted it, the rear wheel was still touching the ground.
@@tombauder8489 you don't have something set up right. I wish I could help you. I have 2 sets of Cole planters and after a lot of trial and error, I have them set up great. Do you have a operator's manual for yours?
@@brian_2040 Thank you for responding. I think I'll try moving my top link both one hole higher or one hole lower to see if it makes a difference. I'm using a JD4310 tractor but that shouldn't matter I don't think.
@@tombauder8489one thing I'd recommend is get you some gauge wheels and mount them on the tool bar. The planter unit where it bolts to the tool bar now needs to be 13 inches when planting.
That should have no problem handling that JD MX6 and obviously handled it well👍🏻
I like bought my cole planter used ,had to replace the band that controls the fertilizer rate very over priced part $100.Thats what happens when you don't wash it out. Had a Covington, but the Cole is simple.
I use a cole planter on my 140. 1 pt hitch. If the rear wheel isn't making contact, it won't plant. My fix was to put a small tractor weight on the back of the fertilizer hopper. Worked great. No slips in the rows.
That poor tractor! It didn't expect that kinda life.
The other 2 tractors won't last as long as the Super A.
thats for sure! but nothing built today will last as long as anything built in the 50s.
I got a duplex planter and was wondering what seed plates you are using on those peas the cells look big ,I only have 4 plates 3 corn and 1 velvet bean . The hunt for plates continues.....
honestly im not sure . they probably was to big .

Well, you keep at it boys, and by the time Biden gets done ruining the USA you might have a hole big enough to bury a shoe in.
Too cool!
