How to cast on and knit a 1 by 1 ribbed band on a simple knitting machine without a ribber.
Correction: I said to drop the 2nd stitch from the right but it is actually the 3rd stitch on the right. I did it correctly but said it incorrectly. Bygones.

Video supplement for the Hand y Machine Knitting Podcast. These two methods for casting onto the ribber are from an article by Doris Coutts from decades ago. The demonstration is done on a Brother 940 standard gauge machine coupled with the KnitKing RK900 ribber.

Where did you get your machine and how much was it?
I bought when I was at Vogue Knitting Live in Chicago from Carol at truethreads@aol.com. I think it was around $400 but that was a long time ago.
What's the reason for knitting the first few rows on every other needle?
The gaps make a natural stopping spot for the dropped stitches.
