Loading Coal and Switching

Today we follow the Bayard Local loading coal at North Branch, bringing the loads off the mountain into Bayard. While switching in the yard, a hopper coupler broke and had to be set-out into the shop tracks fro later repair.

Well done!
Awesome layout and rolling stock. I thank you very much for sharing your RCR videos. Just liked and subbed to your channel. Bernhard 🕊️🤠👍
@@bernhardblechinger6601 thank you!
3:23 who makes that wheel loader in the background ?
That is a 3D printed loader I got off Ebay, just search N scale wheel loader and it should come up. It comes unpainted and I painted and weathered it myself
@@RCRalroad Thank you. That wheel loader makes that scene PoP. Darn, it's N scale. I model HO and have been looking for a larger wheel loader other than Kibri Komatsu. Cool coal loading and unloading operation.
@@ModelingSteelinHO thank you, I was HO scale myself before i realized I don’t have the room for it, some of the early videos are my HO scale layout, N scale let me do what I wanted in the space I have. Thank you!
@@RCRalroad N scale has some pretty neat stuff not available in HO too. Micro Trains comes to mind, really neat stuff. Beautiful layout and the coal operations are cool. Have a wonderful rest of your day. See ya down the tracks,Fren.
Cool ops session. I like the coal loader.
As always! A very nice production! Thank you
Just ran across your channel. So I Subscribed. I’m also do n scale. Thanks for sharing. Have a good week. 😎😎 👍
Great built, thanks for posting! Looking forward for the finished scene.
Excellent ops video! That structure where the unloading seems to happen: Is there a fancy unloading mechanism installed or do you just pretend for the moment that the coal loads are coming off the cars there?
@@SpringfieldAndWestern the 0-5-0 unloads the cars aka my hand lol
@@RCRalroad 🤣 great, love it!
@@SpringfieldAndWestern now I do have a working tipper at Lees Ferry Dock on the lower level of the layout, it’s currently under construction but I’ll post a short of it so you can see it
Just uploaded it to RUclips so it should be visible soon… enjoy!
Very VERY nice! I follow on IG, but seeing the operation is always cool!
Another cool video! Gotta say it: This is one of my favourite layouts on YT right now. I thought it was N scale. Is it H0?
This was on my old layout, the HO scale layout in the video here is gone, the newer videos are the current N scale layout
@@RCRalroad Thanks for the clarification! Very cool that you went from H0 to N. I know too many people that went the other way around and for me as a N scale guy this always feels a little bit like "losing" someone to H0. 😉
Awesome coal dumper!
My dad was VP Burlington Northern and he took me to CFI steel to show me the rotary dumping, it was awesome to see the cars turned upside down to unload them............. just sayin'..............
Awesome detail! What track do you use at the 0:42 mark?
The track is Altas Code 55 flex, weathered with an airbrush, the ballast is Woodland Scenics fine blend which is extremely difficult to work with
Just came across your channel and imediately knew this is a great layout! I watched a few more videos of yours now and instantly had to subscribe. I really enjoy your landscaping work, the weathering and the story your layout tells. And even better it's N scale and not H0 😉. I recently started a tiny switching layout in N scale myself - take a look if you want. Best regards 👋
Well thank you for the kind words, I never get to show the layout so RUclips and instagram is the only place I can “show it off” I’ll be posting more soon as winter is rolling in and I’ll be able to get more work done. Thank you!
Excellent video and ops session!
Very nice Videos
Nice paint job on the Alco S unit in the opening scene. The slightly different cab and body colors caught my eye. Also, your weathering really mirrors everyday coal hoppers.
Thank you! The Alco S2 is painted to match the prototype on the Beech Mountain RR here in WV. The railroad I work for use to pull coal trains from them and it was my favorite loco.
I found this page on ig and wow! I hope you'll upload more videos
I love the one with the mini logs.
awesome running! nice scenery and weathering :)
I discovered your instagram page a few days ago and noticed you got a RUclips channel, this is pretty cool I must say. Bravo, bravo!
Thank you very much!
Can you do a layout tour
Yeah, one day when I get some more done, the layout is currently a 3x8 but the rest of the third level and second level are still in the building stage
Nice runbys in a neat scene
Thank you!
sick layout
Thank you!
Cool video!!!
Thank you!
Great video. Love the coal load out!
The coal car dump is pretty slick
These operation videos are great! The coal loader is excellent!
Thank you very much, once I get the upper deck completed I should have more op session videos coming
@@RCRalroad gunna put the rotary dump on top! Heck yeah!
Well actually I have a surprise coming up soon, I should have a update on that soon probably here and Instagram
Really enjoyed that! 😊
I'm glad!
@RCRalroad whats the name of that grey/black ballast, and who did you get it from? I also like the small detail like the coal seam on the hillside next to the switch.
Sorry for the delayed response, the ballast is woodland scenics fine cinders and the ballast for the main is woodland scenics medium grey ballast, of course it’s all weathered with a air brush to add a dirty affect,
Super. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
F7 With 16-645 turbo? Sound?
In this time on the layout I was playing with the CVs on the decoder and was kinda messing about really, I since changed them back to the more time era engine sounds
Very cool 😊
Those engines sound so good, is the sound Tsunami or ESU?
Tsunami 2 sound, no extras on these engines they are straight from the box, of course weathered by me
@@RCRalroad That is amazing, thank you
Those engines sound terrific!
Love how the coal cars are refilled, nice feature!
Thank you!
I remember seeing trains moving to and from Loveridge and Grant Town mine (when it was running) in the 80's and 90's. You never knew what you were going to see in the lead pulling those trains. Conrail still had those "U boats", and they were a fairly common site on those runs
Loveridge mine is still going strong, a outside contractor loads the trains now at Loveridge, NS and CSX bring the empties in and the contractor loads them and then NS/CSX take the loads back out, B&PRR use to have there power on trains till PTC was installed on the Loveridge and now it has to be CSX/NS power on all trains
This is HO Scale
Lionel always makes the best engines and cars.
Nice photos.
