Nikon Z50 vs Nikon Z30 .... Shocking revelation !!!

I accidentally came across something really strange which is the SNR Firmware difference between Nikon Z50 vs Nikon Z30. In this video shot the same scene side by side using the same type of lens on both Z50 & Z30 and found out that despite the low cost of Z30, it performs better than Z50. In this video, I review the Nikon Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena and compare it side by side in real life with the closest competitor out there which is Carl Zeiss 135mm f/2 APO Sonnar. The rest of the 135mm f/2 from various companies are not even close to Plena & Sonnar. Thanks for watching this video. Warm regards, Babar Swaleheen Follow Babar Swaleheen. Need for Speed ..... Sabrent Memory Cards !!!
This is the true!!! Nobody of the others profis has us given this most important Information, Thank you for that. That’s why the Z30 is on the same good level like the new Z 50 II. Only in warm colors, faster autofocus, 10Bit Videos and only 5% better low light high iso Video Performance. The Z50 II is much bigger and 150 gr. heavier, thats bad. Best wishes Steve Rich
superb review of handling
Tres bonne video, et tres bon raisonnement👋👋👋👋
Thanks so much for this info!!!!. I am a hobbyist photographer with a Z5 and mostly into landscape, portrait, and astrophotography. There were many times i wished it had higher fps to keep up with the action and I was eyeing for a z7ii and your points about the low light with a 45 mp camera has helped me either this decision. Thanks!!
The most truthful video on RUclips ever!
Fun video thanks but for me, the D4/4s/Df which all have the same 16mp Nikon designed sensor that renders differently but at least as nice as the D3,D3s/D700 group.
I have this lens and it is my favourite Z lens. The actual glass seems and renders like vintage glass in bokeh, colour and feeling but is technically perfect. I love it, it's just so big and heavy.
Thanks for the video. One needs both, the Nikon for character ie environmental portraits with lovely bokeh, the Zeiss for landscape, architecture etc.. 😊
Exactly...The Z8 was also my mirrorless D700 moment. I never enjoyed shooting with the Z6 and 7 cameras but the Z8 is mature and brilliant..
Sir make one video for black and white also
Post process colors vs in camera colors
Thank you
Excellent examples and great learning experience in this video
Sir do you recommend z30 for photography?
Z50
D200 colors ftw
Iv been looking for this lens in Pakistan. Par kisee ke paas nae hai
There are a number of problems with this analysis which invalidate the whole comparison: 1. WB is clearly different between the cameras. Set them both to daylight with no adjustments. I know the D200 well and that is clearly not the colour of the daylight WB setting. 2. Different lenses. Obviously different lenses have different colour. 3. Different aperture. It seems that the lens on the D200 has a wider aperture, affecting sharpness, vignetting etc. 4. Not defining what you mean by "SOOC" or straight out of camera images. Are these JPGs or RAW files? If RAW, then you're just comparing how Adobe Lightroom or whatever is interpreting these RAW files. The colour in any editing software is not the same to the JPG output or how Nikon's NX software will see the colour. Especially for older cameras, Lighroom gives you radically different colours to Nikon software of the camera's own JPG engine.
What about exposure compensation settings? Where these set the same on both camera?
To be frank, I love z5 colour more as i find the colour is brighter and more accurate. D200 is warmer though and I understand why some people might prefer it. I have the Z5 and thinking to get a d200 or d70 just for fun.
This was a really thoughtful exercise really interesting thanks! I think it was great that you levelled the playing field as much as possible to give a truer comparison. I feel like i would end up in post trying to make the Z5 images look more like the D200 in many cases. It could probably be done because of the sheer technical brilliance of the latest gear, but the D200 gives a more soulful rendition like the human eye and memory straight out of the box. Like film used to.
Excellent video. Thanks so much, it's been very helpful!
A timeline of topics sure would have been nice.
Exposure is different, if you look at the image.
Give it away please 😅
Awesome review! I own the APO Sonnar and I love it - it is 100% Otus except in name. I’ve thought of using a Megadap adapter to get some autofocus usage. I got the Sonnar at a bargain a few years ago. I can’t afford a Plena right now, so when I need 135mm, I will continue with my APO Sonnar
The Nikon Z 135mm 1.8 S are huge and heavy, I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM which is a bit smaller and more light weight, I am not a fan of big and heavy Lenses, it is not fun carrying heavy gear ! Last year I went through most of my best photos taken with the 135mm 1.8, most photos was with aperture 2.8 to 5.6, only rare with larger aperture and those with fx aperture 1.8 was not that pleasing anyway ! So now I only use the 135mm 1.8 rarely, most for Landscape when I am in my car. Now I use the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 which is smaller and more light weight and it is sharper at 2.5 and 2.8 than the Sony. I m lucky to have plenty of options to choose from many Lenses for the Sony E mount system, some day I will get the excellent Zeiss Batis Apo Sonnar 135mm 2.8 T* which is much more light weight and aperture 2.8 are enough for a 135mm Lens ! Btw Sony 135mm 1.8 GM are a bit better in optical image quality than the Nikon Z 135mm 1.8 S.
Thank you for making this video! Nice comparison. 👍
Hello! We are glad to see you and convinced you that the planar is cooler than the sanar, even the three-dimensionality of the image is greater than that of the sanar! Although this is surprising considering that the sonar has fewer elements! What do you think is better, having ND built into the camera or on the lens? Theoretically, since the lenses have an anti-reflective coating, ND filters should not be in front of the lenses, but if there is a lot of wind, sand can scratch the lens coating because certain particles are comparable in density to diamonds. In general, an interesting idea for a video on how the anti-reflective coating of a lens works under an ND filter located on the lens, does it even work now, the ND filter should work as an anti-reflective lens
Extensive video for 85mm thanks
You are welcome
among all these which lens do you thing better suitable for low light shooting?
There is one lens from Tamron for the APS-C f/2.8 aperture lens. Try that
Just got this lens for my D7200 and it could be the best lens yet for my airshow photos...... EBay has them direct from Japan for about $375.USD
This lens is so amazing that you can use it on full frame camera after 28mm onwards covering full frame sensor with f/2.8 aperture .
Nice! Thanks you!
Any time!
Hi Babar, my first full frame camera was a D700 which I still use and love. And I recently found a D3S in very good condition and having it in my hand was an incredible feeling, it is heavy but very comfortable and has dedicated buttons for everything, you don't have to go to the menu. I share and confirm that compared to the D700 the D3S has a warmer tone and generally more contrast. If the photos on the D700 are easy to edit on the D3S it is even easier. I have tried other cameras with higher resolution but I don't know how to explain it or if there is a technical reason but I see more depth, separation, volume in the D3S than in FX cameras with more modern sensors.
12MP are more than enough to do many types of photography and D3s is exceptionally damn good to deliver the quality images even with 12MP.
If I shoot a photo in “HEIC” and another photo in “Pro Raw” , which one will have the natural best overall color & resolution? With no editing involved
HEIC will have better output.
I do not currently own a camera. I want to take up photography as a hobby and am researching camera's. I like the retro look of the Zf and the FugiFilm xt5. Your video was very helpful in explaining this camera. The xt5 is less expensive, but the Zf looks like a more capable camera.
Thousfujifilm X-T5 and Nikon Zf appears to be similar in look but they are completely 2 different beed. X-T5 is crop sensor (means not so good in low light shooting) where as Zf is full frame camera (better for low light performance).
Thank you for the response. I did go with the Zf.
I am confused about which phone to choose in the middle category in terms of photography quality. What do you think, what do I choose for under $220?
The is subjective and its user dependent.
Try new Nokia phones .....they are damn good and better in over all performance considering the lower price point.
"d10 starlight view" in the menu is what's making your screen not show black and white when you are in b&w mode
Voice was distorted : sounds like clipping on over-gain !
It is because of my y voice 😀
Great video! Only had my zf for a couple of weeks but have learned a lot. Thank you.
Thank you so much Jeff
pretty average lens, don't know what people are so excited about
I am sorry but if you are going to make a video where you are trying to show the difference in quality between two lenses, please make it in at least 4k. I just started watching this video but stopped pretty quickly when I saw it was in Standard Definition as the image quality of the video is nowhere near good enough to show the real differences between any lenses let alone the two excellent lenses you are reviewing.
The video is in full HD. 4K is over kill for watching on small screen of mobile devices where you can't see any difference.
@@VUEGRAPHY I am sorry, I totally disagree. Any serious photographer wanting to see a lens review will be looking for footage and images which demonstrate the sharpness (or not) of a lens under consideration. Personally I almost never watch a video on a phone screen as i am looking for quality, especially with lens reviews where sharpness matters. I watch films like yours on an Apple 27" 5k monitor where propper 4k (and better) videos really show their quality and, I am sorry, but yourds doesn't come close.
@@VUEGRAPHYSorry you're wrong on this, the previous comment is totally correct, this is why you don't have many views or comments.. I have both these lenses and there's a huge difference in rendering, difficult to see for amateurs and very difficult to see on RUclips unless at least at the highest resolution... Bye... Go and learn if you want more followers.
Amazing! Almost sold my d500 glad i didn’t
D500 is a timeless machine.
Almost sold mine once at its peak price at the time but couldn’t let go of it glad I kept although could have get one much cheaper now
Great videos... How would you compair the d700 and the d200 if we look at image quality? I know d200 is crop but the last ccd sensor and sensor of the D700 is panasonic....I own a d600 and looking for a second body. Thanks
Thanks Babar bhai its highly informative video.
I can see the d700 blushing after this review 😊 For me, the d700 has a soul. It’s a camera for photographers. No video!
Totally agree!
Thanks for the info, especially on the Exposure Compensation dial.😊
Glad it was helpful!
One of the few apsc lenses that really work on my D500. The Sigma 18-35, 50-100, nikkor 35 1.8 dx and the Samyang 16mm f2 (very underrated lens) are also great but that is it. For the rest I use full frame lenses such like the holy trinity nikkors. I have tried many apsc wide ange zooms like the tokina's but AF consistency is bad and corner sharpness is one big mess. Yes you can do wide angle shots with a D500 but 14-24mm is the one to get. Otherwise the Irix 11mm f4, that gives you a 16,5 mm fullframe equivalent.
D700 has much much bigger pixel size and hence its low light performance is just epic. No camera can take the position of D700. It's an all time graet camera.
Can't agree more ....
