Godspeed You! Brick Emperor
Великобритания
Добавлен 8 май 2024
Lego speed builds, reviews, set discussions, MOCs, and building techniques.
As an AFOL I love to create tutorials of building techniques and designs. I'll also feature reviews and speed build videos of official Lego sets, my own designs and other community designs I build, while pointing out any interesting techniques and quirky parts usage so that the build videos will be educational and help you to design better MOCs.
Themes: Modular Building, Architecture, Lego City Cars and vehicles, Lego Star Wars and Lego Ideas sets, but sometimes other sets take my fancy.
Please comment, like and subscribe to help support the channel and let me know what sort of content people are interested in.

ooo l love this concept!!!!
I love your channel name
Thought this was a funny video idea, but I subscribed as soon as I saw your name! Great band, great pun! Keep up the good work!
isnt this 75259 with a few pieces coloured Orange?
I thought it was 75259 with a redesigned rear, which in a way it is, because (as other people have commented) it’s actually 75049 with some orange pieces on which 75259 is based. Most of the ships in the game are based on sets. I was going to mention it in the video but I cut it out in the edit.
@@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor great observation!
Very underrated channel, I was surprised to see how few subs you had compared to my expectation. Keep doing what you're doing
Thank you so much, I’ll definitely keep on doing it I find it a lot of fun.
What software do you use to make these?
The Lego design software is called Bricklink Studio.
13:03 is it not just a 1x2 clip plate on its side?
It is, yeah. I was very confused. I spent ages in deleted footage trying to make robot arms and all sorts of things line up right when it was so simple
Mentioned in another comment this looks like its based the 75049 Snowspeeder, one of the few sets that I still have in one piece actually. The confusing bit at the rearward cockpit is on page 17-19 on the instructions if you'd like to take a look at it (I'm not familiar with the lego piece names at all)
Oh you’re right. Thank you. I had looked at photos of all of the models and I think the front of the 2014 and 2019 sets are so similar I assumed they were the same set. Now I know: it was a 1x2 plate with clips turned on its side. Thank you, that has been bugging me
i dont know if you've covered it yet or not, but Obi-Wan's Delta-7 starfighter is just straight up missing pieces in the game. what made me notice it was having the lgo model in front of me whilst playing. theres another mixing part but the only one i can remember currently is the 1x2x1 wedge piece with the 1x1 cheese slope on top of it, directly under the cockpit below the square fin at the back. i dont know why they would do that, which is how i found your videos, but its driving me crazy. they really didn't put the quality into this game at all.
Oh I’ve not seen that yet, I’m playing through the prequel levels at the moment, so I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Such a great idea!! I’d love if you could try some of the ships we’ve never gotten as sets before, like Libertine or the Naboo Royal Starship
Oh I hadn’t noticed they hadn’t got official sets (probably cos I’ve not played the prequel levels much yet) so I’ll look into those for a future video, thanks. Glad you like the idea, I can’t play Lego games or look at photos without studying how the models are designed.
i think the cone was normal because i see the axle hole in your recording at 6:08
I think they used the design of the snowspeeder from the 20 years anniversary that featured an exclusive minifig of Lando
Yeah, they did but it’s been changed in places, the whole back section and cockpit canopy have been completely changed.
All the ships in the game are based on Lego sets as far as I can tell but I’ll feature them occasionally as I like doing big things as well as the smaller models. I’m not going to do the UCS Falcon though. That’ll take about a day to build with the instructions so I don’t think anyone wants to watch a video that length
It's 2014's 75049 Snowspeeder. 1x4 spring shooters, small details like the stickered plate on the right wing, the inverted wedges it sits on, the rear string real with grappling hook, etc. Apart from some recoloration it's the exact build, which also details the interior and how the rear is put together.
Your a wizard in studio bro
Heh, thanks. Still some parts I wish I could do better though.
That bar piece is a lipstick piece but with both parts of the dual mold being gray. Nvm you figured it out as i typed this
Yeah, it took a minute for me to realise but I got there in the end. The dual molds both being the same colour threw me a little I think
I do think those dark orange parts are actually pearl gold (since they look quite similar to C-3PO in-game), but good job!
Yeah, you could be right. I find the lighting and environment really affect the colours a lot in the game. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
love the videos man :)
Thank you. I’m so glad you’re enjoying them
You have such a goated name that’s worth a sub
Hah, thanks. Hopefully you enjoy the videos too
What software do you use?
Bricklink Studio is the Lego building software, and I use OBS and DaVinci Resolve for recording and editing
what software are you using to make these?
The Lego building software is called Bricklink Studio and I use OBS and DaVinci Resolve to put the videos together
Top video
Thank you very much
for the computer terminal instead of the headlight piece, the 1x1 with stud on the side exists as a separate piece (87087) but love the work!
Thank you, I’m glad you’re enjoying it, I’m finding them really fun to do. Yes the 1x1 snot brick with a single stud on the side could connect the leg but then it wouldn’t be flat on the bottom as the snot brick lifts the technic brick up by the height of a plate
its free today on epic games store
Oh nice, thanks for the heads up. Would be good to get a pc copy
Is this software Mecabricks?
No, it’s Bricklink Studio
Great job on the editing
Thank you.
They didn't cheat! They used the force!
The Force … of gravity!
Something that I think could make the video even better would be if you had a video feed of the game up while you're building
Thanks for the suggestion, I might give it a go and see what it’s like. My initial thoughts are that when I’m using one screen there’s nothing really happening on the other but yeah maybe it’d help
@@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor it's good to have a reference of what you're trying to build while you're building it for us so we can follow along better
I tried this suggestion with my latest video and I think it works well. Thank you
Thanks! These are so useful for mocs!
Thanks. I find they have some really nice techniques and cool parts usage that really sparks imagination for building other things
Subscribed just for these builds
Thank you. I’m really glad you’re enjoying them
Loving this series! Do you think you'd try making bigger things next time??
Yeah, going to give sonething bigger a try soon. A REALLY big terminal… no
@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor cool
I don't know why more Lego RUclipsrs don't try to recreate builds from the games.
I dunno. I struggle to play them properly because I’m too busy looking at how the models are made.
Okay, I'm sold on your username alone. New sub.
i sat in pain wondering when you'd paint the pins on the legs, and you never did 😭
I know, I’m sorry, I noticed that after I uploaded it and I felt bad
I was deeply, deeply confused by your channel name/pfp
You may be the only person who’s noticed the pfp.
@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor I even got lost at Legoland once but they found me on the beach
I was feeling kinda shit and depressed, and watch this was nice and relaxing, thank you.
You’re more than welcome
Immediate subscription! I love this!
Thank you so much
(Reposting because RUclips wanted to form a link out of using StudIO with a period, and external links get comments hidden/removed) I think this style of video would benefit by having the game and StudIO side by side, rather than switching between the two and commenting on elements of the game's model while not switching to that capture. Might require some trial and error to find a good layout for it. Personally, I don't think StudIO's capture necessarily needs the right side panel, and I think its viewport could be thinned out; I wish the UX designers would allow for color palette to be integrated into the main brick panel via either a tab on the insert/replace section or the shapes/categories section, it's an extra click but it consolidates so much of the UI into one panel otherwise. Then on the game side, you can at least capture it in 1:1 or 4:3 to display the model you're looking at, as the model otherwise wouldn't fill the entire screen. You could also mess around with doing picture-in-picture and switch sources between which you want to focus on. I also think the unedited single-take style is fine. Sometimes searching for a specific part does take time, but that's also just the experience of StudIO and the naming system adopted from BrickLink, something that's almost universally complained about considering some names outright do not make sense, or there's an asinine amount of repeats due to minute changes; something I wish SIO would also have a UX change with, hide depreciated parts if there are revisions. As for the round 1x2 plates on the Computer Terminal model, I believe this is just a modelling error for the part itself, similar to how Technic thin liftarms also do not have a crease; though the real part may also have a much tighter corner, as the real part for the liftarms (and all Technic parts in general) have much tighter corners than Lego's otherwise more easily separable brick system. Also on the Computer Terminal model, for the back of the leg could you not have just used a single-sided SNOT brick, the front brick's bottom edge would align correctly to form a flat foot, and this would remove any 'cheating' that you claim. As for the Walker model, I wonder if this uses BL part bb0517, "Plate, Round 1 x 1 Stepped Side," which doesn't have record of being used in sets but apparently there's an orange and trans-clear for sale, and at least a picture of one; I'd be curious, if this is a legitimate part, if the stepped side would fit into the blaster housing; though on the flipside of this, it's likely just modelling error, a LOT of SIO's parts have incorrect attachments where stud flipping is possible, another big complaint with the program especially with the Technic parts ecosystem, and I wouldn't be surprised if early blaster models allowed for this. At the same time, I'm a bit surprised Lego hasn't made a double-studded round plate, or the inverse of such, considering the move to hollow-stud plates allowing for direction inversing on a shaft, it'd seem like having these two parts would be logical.
Thank you for an incredibly thoughtful and insightful comment. I have been considering a better split screen layout al though I’ve not settled on one that I like yet. And yes, double sided single studs would be game changers for Lego. The best we can do at the moment is using a thin turtle plate (4081) to put bricks back to back but that requires a gap for the 1x1 plate part to hide so isn’t always practical
If you're able to it would help to extract the game models and take a look at them that way
Yeah, I guess I could but I think the fun in it for me is trying to figure it out myself. Extracting the models would probably be an interesting challenge too though
@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor Usually the game model won't have everything actually on it (especially for interior bits, anythng not visinile to the player is often removed ( so there's plenty still to find often! just should give you a somewhat better view
Absolutely GOATED channel name 🔥
Thanks
Lol I love your channel name! I hope you can do some for the older complete saga Lego games
Thanks. I love the pun in the name and I knew I had to use it when it came to me. I’ll have to try to find copies of the older games, of love to play through the old Indiana jones ones again
there's this 5 plate high 1x1 piece with two studs on the side and one on top, they could've used a model of that one
Yeah, that might be it and then clipped it into the floor.
@@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor There would be no clipping, because 5 plates high is *exactly* high enough to fit two studs on the side.
Yes it would fit but then there’s no room to connect the 4x1 plate that holds the whole thing together
I really love the unedited live stream vibe u have going on tbh. It's very calming and pleasant to watch
Thank you for that, glad you enjoyed it. Maybe I should upload an edit and the unedited version.
It's odd to me that the computer terminal cheats considering it's really simple to just make it work. On the part with the doorrail pieces, switch the 1x4 plate and 1x2 plate so that the longer one is sandwiched between the bottom two door rails. This way you can put a SNOT brick on top of the ends of the 1x4 plate and connect the legs that way.
Yeah, that was my other thought so I don’t know why. In a rush and it doesn’t really matter unless some idiot like me comes along and looks closely? I think some other models in the game aren’t fully connected for the destruction physics but you can’t destroy these
Now, that’s a set, that walker is a microfighter! I had it when I was younger
Really good source for the at dp pilot since he only came in it and in the larger one
@ yeah, great figure!
Maybe there is actually a 2×4 plate on the bottom of it but they clipped into the floor when building the level? Also nice video mate, i remember building those r2d2/character panels in the complete saga but i didnt question the other things in the game
There’s certainly somethings in the game that are held together by something that’s clipped away But yeah, I guess I’ll never know for this model. Glad you enjoyed the video
It's attached on hopes and faith
Sometimes it’s the best way
Btw the walker is an actual set! And i have that set!
Oh, is it? What set number? I’ve seen a few similar sets from over the years but I didn’t find one that was exactly the same
75130
Thanks. I hadn’t seen it because I was looking for an AT-RT instead of AT-DP. Looking at the instructions I almost got it right, just one difference in how I attached the front bracket. so I’m pretty pleased anyway.
A simple way to connect the computer legs would be to build the computer on top of a 2x4 plate, I believe that there is a modified 2x4 plate with the front middle 2 studs removed
Is there a 2x4 with two missing studs? I’ll have to check that out although I’m not sure how jut would attach to the front legs as there’s no antistud in the side of the 2x1 technic brick. I’ve noticed the game “cheating” by not connecting bits of models in other places as well, I think it’s part of the destruction physics so I’m not too worried but it’s nice to be able to build them physically without resorting to gravity fitted sections
This is a really cool video that I'm surprised hasn't gained more traction. Just some constructive criticism though, maybe like the other comment said edit it down a bit more, i could totally see this as an 8 minute video that would absolutely hit off on the home page. Overall, it's still really cool. Keep it up.
Thank you. I think you’re right and I’ll tighten them up (a lot) more.
if I were in your shoes, I'd also continue posting this style with bare minimum editing, perhaps in paired uploads with the condensed version. The unedited "stream" is very relaxing and trying to keep things hype and happening is a quick way to burn out. above all else, look after your own well-being, because otherwise this platform will use you up without remorse.
I like the video concept. This would benefit a lot from editing though. Show just the highlights and cut out the "empty parts" where you just search for a part or change the color. Could really blow up in the Lego SW community if executed well :D
Thank you, glad you like the concept. This for the feedback and I’ll definitely do more editing in the future. I wasn’t sure if people would enjoy it like a “livestream” with minimal edits or an edited version like you suggest.
@@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor Don’t listen to him! Never back down! Never conform! Don’t be like everyone else! ✊
@@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor Could also speed up the slow parts and keep them in
I honestly like the looking around. Feels human
I would also prefer a more edited version, maybe just speeding up the slower parts. but you could do both, upload a livestream and then edited version goes up after
Hey, that's cool! (Btw what is the name of the app you are using to build lego on conputer?)
Hi, thanks for watching. it’s called bricklink studio.

@@GodspeedYouBrickEmperor Ah, thanks! I'm going to go recreate my Christmas day 1985 and build a bunch of Lego Space! If only Lego Worlds had this level of versatility, it would be great making a whole diorama to walk around / drive vehicles in. Edit: Gah, it crashes every 5 to 10 minutes :/
