You actually lose nothing in towing capacity by going to wheels and tires that are rated properly to handle the overall GVWR of the vehicle. The load rating is still the load rating whether you have factory wheels or aftermarket wheels. The only downside would be slightly reduced performance and torque with taller/wider tires and that’s easily regained and even increased, with re-gearing and programming. Something that was started by American Force when they offered to custom build forged wheels with a single front option as opposed to traditional dual....and is now offered by almost all manufacturers and called "super single". The older traditional "super single" in the rear was done for practical use - improving off-road performance, traction, reduced resistance. The term "super single" that is used by manufacturers like Fuel, DDC, American Force, KG1 Forged, etc. refers to something that is purely visual for the style. It's all cosmetic with a different look for the front.
