Were/are the Anglo-Saxons German?
While the Anglo-Saxons weren't exactly German, they were like cousins to the Germanic peoples. Picture a big family tree with branches spreading across Europe. The Anglo-Saxons were part of that tree, originating from tribes like the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes. They embarked on a journey from what we now call Germany and Denmark, sailing across the choppy waters to settle in the British Isles during the early Middle Ages. So, you could say they were Germanic adventurers who made England their new home!
