I can’t stand people who blindly accept the slop that Nintendo blindly puts out and actively defend them. There no reason why a game like this need to be some fusion of the older games and the new trash we’ve been getting. I can’t wait for the next Zelda to have shitty rewards systems, pathetic combat, simple stories so dumbed down, puzzles that YoU cAn SoLVe AnYWaY yOU WaNT. Nintendo is creatively bankrupt.

RPG maker is my favorite game engine and I’m a professional software dev. So many great games have been made with it, it’s such an incredible piece of tech. Excited to see it come to switch!

There is a sale at the US eShop now. At least it's bundled with Metamorphosis for $1.99. Which is worth it for Metamorphosis alone.

I'm a few hours in and I hate combat

Nah I been playing these games 30 years n this is something special for this style of LoZ. Yall jaded n depressed. 😂 This opens up a ton of different games and ways to play. Imagine Link with a couple spawn abilities or robots. But I also hate the 2 other switch Zelda’s.

The game is really fun and I do enjoy it a lot. HOWEVER, I do have some complaints. The reward system is unsatisfying. Getting rupees or ingredients is so…….lame. Far too many side quests or treasure chest do I open to find this crap reward that leaves me feeling like I just wasted my time. Whats odd is that some of these more rewarding items that can be worn to give you buffs or abilities are bought in the stores which is just weird. I mean it’s nice to be able to buy them but I feel if these items popped up in chests or given as a side quests reward that would have been so much more fun and satisfying. That is a developer decision I don’t understand. Then theres the sword and shield mode. You can only use a sword for a time limit or until your energy meter runs out. That is annoying AF. Either let Zelda use a sword or not. Don’t give it a time limit. There are moments in boss fights where you really do need the sword to be productive and if you run out of energy then you are screwed for the rest of the battle spawning your monsters slowly chipping away at the boss making the boss fight last for ages. Yes, you can make smoothies to replenish your energy but what if you forgot to stock up energy smoothies? I hate cooking and crafting in games and in real life and so that is another part of the game I do not enjoy especially the fact that you have to pay 10 rupees regardless if you make a good smoothie or a shit one that does nothing but heal half a heart. No wonder they give so much damn rupees in all the chests. Then theres the rule of equipping one worn item at a time. This system is going backwards to Link’s Awakening which I though was so primitive. Link to the Past was far better where if I get flippers, I can permanently swim in water. If I get pegasus boots, I can permanently run fast. If I get a power bracelet, I can permanently lift heavy objects. Not this equipping one item at a time bullshit to do one simple task. That is just stupidly time consuming and ruins the flow of the game going in and out of menus. What also ruins the flow of battles is the time limit to the sword mode. Have to keep switching back to conserve energy is just so retarded. I feel like this game could have been so much better if not for these dumb decisions made by Nintendo. What the hell were they thinking? Oh and lastly, the amount of echoes is stupidly long. The better way instead of doing a single row going all the way from beginning to end would be to do a grid instead of. Yes, you can go in the menu but the quick holding down the arrow button to pull it up would have been great if a grid of several rows popped up instead.

I find it hilarious you complain about having to sleep in boss battles then in the very next clip show Zelda walking past a smoothie shop where you can easily create health potions.

Your review is very interesting, as someone who loves the game, I disagree with you, but your arguments were all in good faith and made sense. You kind of maybe missed the point that this is a "zelda" game, not a "zelda game", and if you were playing like link, then there would be no good reason for zelda to be the hero, and that isn't interesting (that is Iwata-san's perspective). I think you were too quick to say it was not as good as it could be, when in reality it could just not be for you specifically, because it is definitely for me (we agree on the bad menu at least). Millions of people play Baldur's gate 3, and even if I like it for all the qualities it deserves; it is not a game I can get into and enjoy, because I get decision paralysis. Zelda: EoW feels different, because in different scenarios you don't really need to make a choice weighing the pros and cons of all 100 or so echoes, recognizing that only a certain type of echo is viable, really narrows down stuff you actually need to choose between, then you can choose which does it best for the cost you can afford, or settle on what you are used to. At the end of the day, Zelda is the equivalent of a DnD wizard, if you don't like flipping through a spellbook, you won't have as much fun

Problem with your CRITIQUE is it's ignorant and you only played like the first hour. If you played longer there is a feature that allows you to play with sword shield and bow Link. Part of the feature is building Zelda up to the point where she is able to fight like Link. Right now, I'm waiting to unlock the bow ability and then upgrade it. If you plan on playing, play more than an hour or so.... because all that would have been revealed.

I love the game. I dont get the complaint about too many abilities. You dont have to use them all and you can actually change the order and therefore usually find the things you usually use.

Probably the Zelda game I’ve played the least ever. It’s a bad game there is no doubt about that.

The game starts so awesome playing as Link with really smooth and awesome abilities. then you have to play as Zelda and your ability is now spawning a coffee table. It bummed me out pretty hard how harsh the drop off was

Tears of the Kingdom also had a problem with (some) unwieldy menus, such as the Arrow Fusion menu. If you wanted to find any rarely used items, you could end up scrolling a loooooong time. As is the case here (apparently), that game also really would have benefited from some customizable menu(s) options.

2:35 Two versions, one is the Arcade version, the other remade. For the remade one it is already worth. I find it not bad that they didn't "modernize" the games, the most important thing is that they fixed the stuff that was on the second screen.

I never liked the old Castlevania games on the nes I just can't like those old games I only started to like Castlevania again when I played the Gameboy advance interations and I liked them better than the 1980s games it's the same with MegaMan I hate the original games but only liked the Gameboy advance mega man games
