There are important details missing from this video. When/Where should we be completing the install process? Is it ok to do it in your home country before you leave for your trip (I tried and it failed)? If we do an install on an iPhone before we leave our home country, should we be marking it as the Primary line; or will that break our service in our home country before leaving?

Unfortunately you would have to pay roaming fees for SMS and phone calls unless you purchase an eSIM with a phone number. Best to use iMessage for texts and FaceTime for calls unless you can make other arrangements…

It actually works. They just cant simplify it as this is just how international roamings work, it relies on local networks too. Important to note that when you turn on Celluar or Data, you select the Secondary [or however you call it in your Settings] and turn on Data Roaming.
