@reclaimingwonder I don't... sorry! It's something I've just had (how do these things appear?! Lol). There are some acrylic and woden options online. But you could also use a photo frame.

@reclaimingwonder Ooh I'll have to check that out! I'm definitely excited to incorporate the new resources I got for this year. Actually, finding living books has been the hardest part (easy for history but not so easy for geography).

@@aRealPageTurnerWithEcho agreed!! Have you read the books by Holling C Holling? There’s wonderful living geography books! There’s Minn of the Mississippi, Seabird, Tree in the Trail, and Paddle to the Sea 🤗

@reclaimingwonder We do have some of those! My dream series would go to various countries, visit some of the landmarks, maybe even go back in time as well to meet a historical figure. The closest I've found are Magic Tree House and Greetings From Somewhere (but both don't go quite as deep as I'd want and tend to have themes of kids lying to adults, which gets old). So far I've had to piece-meal from various random lists (ex: a book on Germans escaping Berlin by hot air balloon). I'm excited for the Beautiful Feet geography books this year but will still be looking for traveling chapter book adventures!

@Cyriousmama glad you watched all the way to the end! 😂 I was feeling like an infomercial for my life and had to reset 😘 I love the Passports! And the ones I got this year have weathered yellow pages which makes them look old and the boys thought was cool!

@jesswhite7347 So many options can be a blessing... and a curse! Thankfully there are lots of great options though and it's just seeing what might be the best fit for your family in this season. Chasing toddlers is it's own season for sure!

@homeschoollifemom She does have spine recommendations and will give corresponding page numbers or chapters when they relate to a given topic. But she says they are not required or necessary. I am only using the other books listed and it has been plenty.

@marisadaniela6 We also live in a rural area but the ILL has been amazing! There have only been a couple they couldn't get and there are so many listed in the curriculum that there are more than enough options. When I requested the books I put my 1st choice down and then listed the alternates. Almost always the 1st choice has come in.

@KikiP-rb8no That's another great thing about homeschooling! We get to try different styles and if something isn't the best fit for us or our kids it's ok to reassess. I hope this is a great fit for your family, and if it's not, that you give yourself grace to adjust it.

@franhp8907 Great question! I read throughout the day. I bring whatever book we're reading with us wherever we go! Sometimes we're waiting between activities, waiting for my husband to get out of a building store, or randomly we'll set up a blanket under a tree. I'll read during meals, or when I feel like the kids need a break from each other or playing outside. I'll read at the table, snuggled on the couch, in the car, sitting on the edge of the bed before they fall asleep. Sometimes they'll do something with their hands (clay, legos, drawing) but a lot of the time they just sit and listen, laugh, ask questions, etc... Because they are living books they capture their attention. If you need to build attention I would focus on really interesting topics/books, and stop at a cliff hanger! And also read shorter books and in small doses to start. When my boys are distracted or antsy I ask if they're having trouble paying attention (and if they are I let them do something else). My answer kinda sounds like Dr Suess! 😂 We read in the car We read near and far We read before bed We read when we're fed... Hope you find a good rhythm! Happy reading!

@franhp8907 We've been using it as an add-on and because each state has its own chapters it's great for that. We've also jumped around, like reading Alaska when our friends from there were visiting!

We haven't... with our house under construction and now our oven dying; cooking is taking a backseat. But I kept it so hopefully when things settle down we'll get to!

@andreapaola18 when I flipped through the English Teachers Manual at the homeschool conference it didn't feel like something I needed for the lower levels. As the concepts advance in higher levels it might be something I would find useful (but I didn't look through those). I Didn't see a Teacher's Manual for the spelling. It might depend on the confidence of the teacher.

@thistangledmama I didn't follow their recommended 4-day a week schedule. It wasn't important to me to finish in a year. The content is so good I'd say either take it at your own pace and do it as long as it takes or skip sections if you want it to move along quicker... or save it for something they could read and do on their own in the future. Gotta do what's the right fit for your student and priorities!

YES! My Memere always made us Hash. (the name sounds funny, I know lol.) It is something we make every year when the family gathers together. It is really just potatoes and roast beef mashed all together with some onion and spices lol, but it is a favorite. That and meat pies!

It's neat to have a snapshot of the year to look back on! I think I'd still put one together even if we decide to do testing some time.

Ooh I'll have to look into that one. There's one I'm doing with my fellas now that has been really good and I'll do a video of it sometime for sure.
