LUKE SLAUGHTER was as good a Cowboy on Radio! Too bad it was so short lived. INSP channel would do well to revive the character and give a go as a TV western movie. THEY would make money in DVD sales too.

The RADIO program was every bit as good as the TV show. In this era of podcasts, OLD TIME RADIO should enjoy a "revival." They are as entertaining as any "audiobook" as well.

Having radio episodes of the REAL Lone Ranger is a breath of fresh air after the SHIT STAIN that Arme Hammer and Johnny Depp put on the LONE RANGER legacy of CLAYTON MOORE & JAY SILVERHEELS had left. i WISH that HOLLYWEIRD would produce a new version, with a serious script & 2 actors worthy to star in it. THANK YOU for keeping the REAL LONE RANGER alive.

When did Gunsmoke first air on television?

Parley Baer actually wrote this episode (Marshal Proudfoot) for the radio series. Parley Baer also played both the part of Chester and his father. To my knowledge this is the only episode written by Parley Baer. Les Crutchfield is also one (aside from Gunsmoke's creator) of the primary writers of both the radio and later television series. William Conrad had a chance to take it easy for this episode.

This episode may have aired earlier with a different cast. In the earlier episode Paul Frees played the part that Howard McNear played in this episode. To my knowledge the first episode is the only one in which Paul Frees played the part of Doc Adams.

It was about 4 years after this episode that I would be found on Wednesday evening listening to the lone ranger. The music was most interesting, the storylines were captivating to 11-year-old and I learned independence from this series I believe because throughout time I grew to embrace my character is that of a long ranger. Self-sufficiency and success. Thanks for capturing these recordings.

This sounds just like another episode, except it had an old man instead of a young boy.
