Glad you're okay! If your hair gets static charge it's too close and running isn't good. Get low, on the balls of your feet, heels together and cover your ears to protect from the lightning clap that will cause hearing loss. Feet together will increase the chancev that if the current enters your body, it will go back out the other foot.

I was also almost struck by lightning in my house. I was on the phone, when I heard a loud strike of lightening. Well the phone went dead, when I pulled it away from my ear, a huge ball of electricity came out the mouth piece and bounced across my kitchen. STAY OFF THE PHONE DURING AN ELECTRICAL STORM. 😮

Hi From Colorado Springs. 6000ft and above(we are hilly here) I've had All American canners for decades (925 &941)and will never go back. You've been watching videos, some will tell you to add some white vinegar to your water...give that a try. Your water is one of the things that will blacken your pot , the black won't hurt it. And what still amazes me is people I know just use it for pressure canning..it is a pot, more than capable for other uses. This might get some reaction but if you live in a coastal area put a very light coating of oil, like flax seed on it to keep it from pitting ( it can always be washed off). They are expensive and worth your time to keep as pristine as possible. Happy Life to you and yours.

$ 500.00 is not bad for a canner built by All American. That 930 canner will outlast you and your children. I say you made a excellent investment for the furture of Pressure Canning your homegrown vegetables and meats. Oh and our canners turned color also on the bottom.
