Gardening on Purpose
Добавлен 18 май 2022
Hi. I'm Arah and I garden in zone 8A (South East US). I love plants! My garden is my safe space. I garden in containers and in-ground and although I mostly do flower gardening, I have a small vegetable garden as well.
I enjoy clearance plant shopping, reviving damaged or stressed out plants, designing and planting up my landscape with annuals, perennials, evergreens and shrubs.
Please like, comment and subscribe and follow me as I journey through the wonderful world of gardening.

We have spintop red but they're in the wrong spot. I've had success transplanting them but I want to move them ALL. I love these flowers because they bloom their hearts out all season long, especially if you deadhead them. Otherwise they self seed and will pop up EVERYWHERE!
🌱🌿🪴
I love your selection of plants and the fact that you have the space to let your imagination flow. Enjoy it.
@@user-kh7sr8qg3p thanks
I have some Denver Daisy rudbeckia in my 8a garden along with regular rudbeckia I grew from seed. The denver blooms are much bigger. Longer petals.
Beautiful! Nice shot!

Your garden looks amazing. I was worried about mine. Thank goodness we finally got some rain. Yours looks so full and lush. I didn’t know you were supposed to prune roses more than once a year. I guess with such a long growing season here in Georgia it makes sense. Do you cut yours back by a third or more? I only have three but I want them to be bushier.
@roslynholcomb thanks. I prune mine twice a season. I get more blooms that way. Roses are finicky so I'd say do what's best for the type of roses you have. I have mostly hybrid teas. Plus it all depends on the season and whether they get damaged by the Japanese beetles.
Your rock borders always look perfect. How do you do that?
@joncook4774 thanks. Every month I use an edger to keep the grass out
You have a beautiful selection of hostas. I think the blooms are too pretty to cut off. I have a patriot hosta that brightens up my tiny shade area. I would have more if I had more shade.
I’m looking at your yard and almost thought it was mine because I have that same patchy problem. Can u give us a follow up? I’d like to try the creeping Jenny also. 😊
Wow beautiful hosta displays! You must have deer pressure! I wish I could have hostas!
@SouthCarolinaTransPlant thanks. No deer in my area. We'll I've never seen one or seen any sign of one. Sometimes a slug here or there but I have slug bait for that. Good luck with your hostas as well.
@gardeningonpurpose3334 Okay! I actually meant to say "NOT have deer pressure..." but you got it. Not getting hostas anytime soon though. Thanks for responding! 🥰
I have the cats pajamas , i put it in a container for there are a lit of stray cats around and if i put it in a flower bed they rip it apart along with everything else near it , cats love it
Amanita muscaria ⚠
Love your garden they are so beautiful I got several gardens around in our yard they are so beautiful and peaceful It just so peaceful to go out to the garden talk to Jesus pray sing and walk around them to see what is new popping up and blooming,
I got pink gaura this year is growing and doing good Had white gaura a couple years back and it got to big for the space just like your white gaura but they are beautiful blowing in the wind
🌺🪴🌺BEAUTIFUL ‼️
The red ones are cute! Never seen those before!
I love your garden and I also love Hostas. The blooms are awesome.
Thanks so much
Thanks for sharing. So interesting. 😮
I've never seen a red mushroom in real life!
I looked out my kitchen window and saw big white blogs all over my front yard. I figured somebody threw some trash out the car window as they were driving by. I went outside and it turned out to be a bunch of mushrooms.
My yard is covered in mushrooms. Probably because I put down so much compost this year. I’m so grateful it’s been crazy dry and hot here in north Georgia.
Yes I have them too
I'd like to see how my two new favorite perennials will look like in your garden. Keep an eye out for Sunseeker* Coneflowers and Majestic* Alstroemerias. They are both specially spectacular in the garden. I bet they'll thrive better and come back more vigorous year after year in your Georgia garden.
I have Goldsturm, Goldblitz and Little Goldstar in my garden. They really make the garden look bright and vibrant. As for your Rudbeckia, at first I thought it's American Gold Rush, being a tall variety. Your Rudbeckia has very broad leaves at the base as seen here: 0:37 . I am guessing that's the classic and reliable Rudbeckia fulgida "Goldsturm".
There’s a free plant identifier online that’s pretty accurate if you ever need it. Just Google. It’ll pop up. I have a blackeyed Susan that is about 9 to 10 feet tall. 😂
I would join the little bed’s together and then you’ll have more when you go to dividing some plants. Love your channel
I saw them up close today at Home Depot & they are beautiful. I will watch them for the next couple of weeks to see if they will be on clearance. I am creating a new "sun" area in my garden. It is nice to know that they divide easily.
Arah might I recommend you get a garden journal I mean especially right now that we're in back to school season... dollar tree has tons of options for notebooks, composition books, etc.....you can create garden diagrams with the shape of the planting area and labelled plants. You can notate all year long stuff regarding fertilizers, pruning, pest control, weed control, stuff that will be a great reference back to for you. You can notate plants you bought and where, prices? Seed sowing, best practices.... things that worked for you and things that didnt. I never used one myself but started to when the pandemic started in 2020. It started as a NOTEBOOK and then a 3 ring binder....now a thicker 3 ring binder...lol but now I dont see how I operated without it. ❤
It looks like Rudbeckia Goldsturm. They multiply rapidly and are easy to grow.
Black eyed Susans are so lively ❤
Goldsturm, Goldblitz, Little Goldstar is shorter???
Yes tubular flowers are favorites of the Hummingbirds.
This is all looking so beautiful!
Good luck!😊
They look good, but that is odd how they are splitting. Thank you for sharing.
You guys have far more than we have here in the Memphis area.
Hope you'll get to eat your peaches this year. They look good!
Probably watering too much as to why the peaches are splitting. Enjoy the fruits- continue to use net bag over your cute little tree. I use a large one for my blackberries. But one thing, when it rains- the heavy rain with the net bag on almost destroyed my tree. I guess the weaving was too tight and the weight of the water almost buckled my tree/ bush. That is the one thing I found from using a bag. I am enjoying your channel of videos all the way from Canada.
Maybe it needs a bigger container ..i have 2 of them in 22in containers, and they are growing nicely plenty to make 🥧 pies and ice-cream be creative
I am so glad you covered the peach tree, that is exactly what is needed . Now I don't have a peach tree but if I did, I would pull off the split ones to give more energy from the tree to the other fruit.
Your new plants look very nice. It's good to have evergreens especially when the flowers are not blooming. I plant a lot of grasses for fall. Love when the wind blows the plumes. They are perennial in my 8B PNW garden.
Thank you for sharing. I want to get some boxwoods, hopefully I can find some.
Nice plant haul lady! Our lawn looks just like yours! If I get rid of the weeds, all I'd have is dirt! 😅 I got my eyes set on next season as you stated.
Hi Lady! Nice plant haul! Our lawn looks like yours. I think this season's a wash for our lawns! I'd just set my sights on next season, as you stated.
تحياتي نباتات زوينة ورائع جداً جداً ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing. Your garden is beautiful.
When you cut the spent blooms off the Shasta Daisies dry them well. Harvest their seeds. Store in a brown paper lunch bag until you sew those seeds next Spring and you can have an entire field of daisies.
Thank you for sharing.

Mine died this year, too.
