i remember just doing the rebel ambush at the beginning of the mission to capture and sell the super weapon.

In the very first mission. In the bottom left you can get 2 free overlords. In the bottom right of your part of the map around that weird circle building you also can get a few more free battlemaster and flame tanks. I am suprised that you don't seem to know about it. Or that you can get to the target of that mission from the left side.
Flight? Sure! No one ever said anything about the landing🤣
