Why do people say mounting biking! Where DH is just going down and never up the hills/mountains. Even enduro is more of down hill version. MTB is cross country, all mountain, where actually you go up the hills/mountains and downhill. DH is just down hill. I supposed I get offended HD saying they are mounting bikers. Is like triathlon is the same as cycling which is not. Or time trial is the same as cycling. We really need to redefine these disciplines as their own.

Let's not just gloss over this with an 'RIP Rab'. A 37 year old dying in their sleep is not normal at all, he wasn't even middle aged. This is a worrying trend of sudden deaths among younger people.

This is a great interview, it is very insightful and Duncan, props on some great questions! One of the take aways is a coming projected,all encompassing inflation (unfortunately looks like that's on the mark) so, now we wait. So, rather than being pissed off, I think think I'll keep in mind the societal, infrastructure and environmental changes occurring due to this situation. Cool times indeed.

Great discussion.... as a low level privateer enduro rider just racing for fun, it's been a good insight this podcast into the top end of the industry... I often wonder how the money i spend on bikes and parts is divided up, hearing those stat's of the top 50 riders with such low earnings has me quite shocked... e.g. Trek is a billion dollar company... sounds like we need a good dose of truth to shake things up and get some positive changes for the better and no better placed to start than with a good honest discussion. Well done to you both for coming together and making this possible!

Good interview! I just started following EWS this year and found Katy when she was featured on Pinkbike going over her Nukeproof Giga. Cant wait to see how she does this year running her own program!

With the amount of $$ in cycling, why in the flaming F*** does a top 5 rider with the professionalism Katy has, not have a factory ride!?!

This procurement guy showed up day one at Marin thinking that the bike was made in the bike factory, "Hit the button and bike poops out". He reminds me of the sales guys in my industry who are so uninformed and inexperienced. They only learn after making mistakes that cost everybody a lot of money and customers. Now he knows how supply chains work. OJT helps him and hurts everybody else. Uh oh, too late for us guys who have placed orders and this guy sez, sorry I just figured out these supply chains are deeper than I ever dreamed. Hey you can't ship a bike without spokes or tubes. Duh, the guy that hired you is a complete idiot also.

Put this on as a podcast to fall asleep listening to and stayed up till 1:30am I now I'm tired in work 😂 great insights and interesting points. I wonder if part of the pay issue (in the sport in general) is that its shown on a free streaming services (redbull) whereas all other sports are on TV or a pay to view services such as ESPN or BT sport etc? Correct me if I'm wrong, I remember when I was 5/6 in the 90's, didnt they show downhill on Eurosport on TV (in the UK) which was the time when I've heard the salaries were what most would probably think a pro cyclist would earn? But then again, it is all to do with the audience size and whilst we all love MTB, it is a niche sport as Tahnee said. Difficult one but really enjoyed!
