beautiful cinematography!
@@cintreefilms8757 thank you
@cintreefilms8757 I used the Blazar Remus anamorphic lenses to shoot the modern stuff, and my vintage Super-Takumars to shoot the flashback. I loved getting to mix it up like that.
Thank you for these video. They’re really helping me decide weather or not to buy this set. Let me ask you something; I’ve got like 3 to 6K to invest in an anamorphic set. I’m basically decided on blazars or lowa, but are there any other sets you can recommend that have characteristics of the blazer, but maybe a bit better quality overall? I want a set that looks truly anamorphic (stretch factor/oval bokek) but that isn’t too soft. I’m trying to not be too picky, but I can’t find the perfect lens that sits between the blazers and the DZO’s in terms of price 😅
@seanroymedia3580 there really aren't too many affordable options out there... but anamorphic isn't supposed to be really clean.
Nice what lut are you using ?
@@McarthurBeard well I'm not 100% sure, but i usually grade the backyard stuff with dehancer. Probably Kodak Gold 200
What did you end up getting instead?
@@CamEveryDay first I got a set of Meike full frame T2.1 cine primes, then I built a collection of vintage Super-Takumars from the 60s, and now I'm building out a set of Blazar Remus anamorphics.
@@redbeardproductions-kevind9806 Thanks so much for the quick reply!!! You're awesome- Subbed
Amber? blue? What color is the flare?
@@kuro7466 blue
Looks like blue, but it also take on the source
Wait, their Site states it’s 130, still not great, but more than 90. Are they mis-stating on their Site?
@@hueybui I'm sure I was mistaken
@@hueybui I was probably thinking about the 14mm. That's the only one I kept.
@@redbeardproductions-kevind9806 No worries, just wanted to double check. You never know with the info listed on Sites some times.
which camera ?
Z Cam F6
How did you monitor the desqueeze?
@@gregorystarke I use the Z Cam F6, and it has horizontal and vertical desqueeze options. I just set it to 1.33x vertical, and that's how it looks on my Ninja V.
I don’t think that there is another budget anamorphic that compares to the look of the Blazar.
Definitely not for that price!
This is closest distance? I have 45mm and I cant decide which to buy: 85 or 100 :)
I went with the 100 but they look pretty similar
No this isn't minimum focus if I remember correctly. I just set up the tripod and swapped them out without moving it.
Do you have a link to the film?
Not yet, but when I can share it I will.
I forgot to mention the haze... I filled the room with haze for the flashback scene.
thanks for making this!/ which camera is this? tp know the sensor sizes.

You helped me keep what little hair I have left on my head. Thank you!
The focus breathing on the 45mm is so bad it acts like a zoom lens.
They do breathe a lot - but that's just the classic anamorphic style, and charm i would say. If you want a clinical lens definitely look at spherical lenses.
love the music.
Thanks, a friend made it.
Haze makes it really hard to judge sharpness as levels of haze dissipate and vary over time.
@@davidd8281I understand what you're saying, but if sharpness is a big concern you should probably shoot spherical. I would never shoot a scene that looked like this in real life without using haze, so it's much more accurate to a real-world application. There are plenty of clinical tests out there if that's what you're interested in.
Is that a silver flare on the 45mm? It said blue but looks silver
@@mbractor no, just the 85mm. The blue flares are very subtle, and will take on some of the source color.
Did you shim any of these to improve sharpness? Thanks
@@tjpenton I did shim them, but it doesn't make that big of a difference. If you're looking for a sharp lens, go spherical.
Laowa’s focus breathing 🤯
Is moment better than blazar 1.33x?
@@andyz_w3584 the moment is the only adapter I've used. I love it, my only complaint is it's weight.
Wow❤, thank you for your input. Which one is your favourite ( quality wise)?
@@andyz_w3584 they're all nice. I guess I have a soft spot for the 65mm though.
Quality wise, they are the same really. Same build and everything is solid. It depends on how much character you want vs. how clean you want it, and sharp vs soft. The 65mm is fairly sharp, but funky around the edges. The 85mm is about the same sharpness, but is cleaner around the edges... stuff like that

Just ordered my set Sunday. Super stoked to get them.
Wow, thanks for posting this, what a cool idea to combine adapters/lenses. By any chance can you do a test of the Moment 1.33x combined with a 70-200 lens? Preferably with a Sony 70-200 f2.8 ii GM if you have one lying around?

@@prabhdeepdhahan1147 i hardly wear them these days, so they are pretty much perfect still...
@@redbeardproductions-kevind9806 Well gift them to me if you don't wear them!
@@redbeardproductions-kevind9806 Well, have you ever worn them in the rain or snow? Or do you recommend finding a dress boot with a rubber sole ( for those of us that live in rainy/snow enviroments). I just want some nice dress boots to wear with a suit that I occationally wear on the weekends to weddings, receptions, resurtrants, bars/lounges/clubs. And I'm afraid of slipping and falling on my ass in leather soles.
Makes the Blazar selection a nobrainer
It definitely did for me...
I had a quick question. How did the adapter fit, because the adapter ring for the 1.33x fits a front diameter of 82mm and the front diameter of the Remus is 80mm. Did it still screw in anyways? Was planning on doing this so I’d appreciate a response. Thanks
@@jimbo_g the Remus has a 77mm filter thread, and the Moment has a 67mm rear - but it comes with stepup rings, specifically a 67-77mm. Put that on the Moment, and screw it onto the Remus.
@@redbeardproductions-kevind9806 ohh gotcha! Thank you! Really appreciate the response

Very interesting.
Could you not use a Auto Takumar single coated version if flares is what you after?
These lenses kinda fell into my lap. After I decided I liked them, but wanted more flaring, I sold them and started building my collection of Super-Takumars.
Did you actually screw the Moment 1.33x anamorphic adapter onto the front of the 65mm Blazar Remus 1.5x anamorphic lens?
Yes
these the blue flares ?
Yes

Was this shot wide open?

Looks pretty sharp.
Did you shim these Blazar?
Yes
Im really drawn to the character of the Blazar
I love it.
I've been experimenting with this vertical look I noticed when recording 17:9 you get a 4:3 look when doing this. Almost 1:1 square in open gate. Nice work
Ngl I spent most of the video counting how many times you touched your face
Great anamorphic footage & film emulation!
Do you have instagram?
@redbeard_productions
so beautiful, could you explain please where do you place the fishing line?
looks really cool. I've wondered about crossing the adapter at 90 degrees to end up with a nearly 16:9 image that would retain a lot of the anamorphic quality of the high squeeze (minus the stretched backgrounds). is this idea kinda crazy?
what do you mean by diopter flare?
It flares much differently with a diopter on it.
@@redbeardproductions-kevind9806 what intensity?
