Best (strongest) Knots for tying on a Lure or Hook
The first knot is call the Fish N Fool it won knot wars. It is by far the strongest knot . It is super fast to tie once you get the hang of it. I use this on everything from C-rig to Rapalas or Crankbaits to Spoons to Frogs pretty much every thing but the Drop Shot!
The second knot is how i setup my drop shot rig it is one knot and your done. Never tie 2 knots for a drop shot again.

Best (strongest) Knots for tying on Leaders
Просмотров 4228 лет назад
In over 30 years or fishing theses are the best knots I have used. The second knot is by far the best knot I have ever found it is a bit tricky to get but just practice it a couple times and you will get it down pat. If you have time a little super glue on the knot after it is tied makes it bullet proof. I do this before tourneys or if im chasing big fish and I want to eliminate and any chance ...

All bank fishing. Nothing huge but lots of healthy young fish it was our first time up there. I will be going back for sure. I am going to try to get a new fishing video out every week if i can!!! foll...

Tutorial video describing how to properly rig Big Hammer swimbaits (This will work for other swimbaits as well as long as they are similar in design.) I hope this helps you catch more fish 3 inch Big Hammer is shown in the rigging video I am not involved with Big Hammer nor do they sponsor me, they are just the baits I prefer to use.

Kayak Fishing Huntington Harbor, CA
Просмотров 19 тыс.9 лет назад
A buddy and I headed down to Huntington Harbor for some fun, it was a great day and we caught a bunch of Spotted Bay Bass, Sand Bass, and Halibut.
I know I'm really late to this party but I just came across the video and I just recently purchased a 336 in 35 Remington. Mine has the full length magazine tube and holds 7 rounds. I also have an old 336 in 30-30 made in 1949 that looks more like the one you have, it has to the shorter mag tube like yours. It says 336 SC on the barrel which stands for sporting carbine, I suspect yours says this too. My 49 model however does not have JM stamped on the barrel, this started in 1955 or 56 so yours is one of the first ones. The JM stamping means it has the micro grove barrel, my 35 Remington 336 does have the JM stamp. And good on you for not drilling into the Marlin bullseye to install your sling swivel I've had to drill out two and reinsert a replica of the factory bullseye.
I just bought a fishing kayak & would love to learn from you fishing in LB area. Thanks.
I would totally be down for that but i moved across the country I no longer live out there. but let me know what i can help with i will share any knowledge i have about that place. love fishing out there
I got the same gun 1969 JM stamp …I really enjoy carrying it and it definitely drops the deer...
Ruger owns marlin now and ruger is lot better than marlin ever made them
Yes that happen in 2020 much better than Remington. I look forward to seeing what they do with them.
Me too plus with the 336 model and I hope they bring back the 39A and 444 marlin
I gave my nephew a marlin in 35 caliber for Christmas.he loves it.
Nice rifle and a great cartridge. Only thing missing is a Williams receiver site will tighten up your groups quite a bit. Have you taken any deer with it yet or hogs?
I have taken 3 deer one buck and 2 does. 2 dropped in there tracks and one does went about 30 yards. I have not heard of this williams receiver sight do you have to drill or tap the gun if so i just cant bring myself to do it to this beauty I love it original
@@benintheoutdoors2588 Most are pre-drilled and tapped if you look on the left side of the receiver towards the back you'll see two screws side by side about an inch apart those screws are designed for the aperture site to be mounted. There are also some that mount on the top. Google Williams FP 336. The accuracy will be far superior to the buckhorn sites plus it's very precise it's click adjustable windage and elevation. You can adjust it with a small screwdriver or you can order it with the target knobs to where you can very quickly dial it up or down or left or right. It's just like they use on long range Target rifles. Thanks 👍
1/4 moa per click so 4 clicks equals 1" at 100 2" at 200 and so on all the way to a thousand plus. But you probably will never shoot this rifle past 200. Thanks
I bought a .35 Marlin from 1975 on gunbroker too.
you will love it
what a wonderful treasure you have there. Please take that gawd awful black pos sling off that classic firearm and put a leather carrying strap on it. Blaspheme !!
I have the same gun made in 1953 and I love it.
The Limb Saver is the reason it doesn't recoil hard. You take that Limb Saver off and it will be a whole different matter. The .35 is notorious for hurting. Especially 200 grain bullets.
Naw it was all original when first got it but the butt plate was broken even with bare wood it is a slow push of a recoil. Not a snap. The limb saver was a fast way to use the gun with out going through the fitting process
@@bennetthodgins5499 i have a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem . and it has hardly any recoil . very under rated cart.
@tacticalsmokepole smith you can read the others replies a 35 rem doesn't have big recoil have you ever even shot one.
PiZ-gah not PIS-gah National Forrest, other than great video. As you probably found out by now, you'll need to buy extra 35 remington ammo in the fall at the start of hunting season. As the brands and options become slim pickings, if not out of stock, come late spring to mid summer until the fall hunting season re-stock comes in.
*Used these leaders for awhile>>>**allabout.wiki/lxtl** I fish them hard on a 3 weight set up. Can't beat the price and quality. I have used the expensive leaders on the market today and there's no comparison. Great quality at a great price!*
Cool video? Where in newport what streets?
because we go in Kayaks we go all over the bay
Nice video. I’m thinking about taking a trip down that way to fish soon. We should meet up!
Just checked mine, .35 Marlin 336..."JM". Purchased 1976.
You have an amazing gun sir. If it is anything like mine I'm sure you love it. Mine has knocked down 7 deer since this video.. one shot and down they go..
@@bennetthodgins5499 thank you. I've somewhat neglected it - not realizing its stature in the "gun world." Some rust here and there. Kinda like your description of your find. Time for TLC. Yes, 200gr of Corelokt usually keeps 'em face down. Didn't use it at all last season due to hunting shotgun only territory. I hear .35 calling, though. Very good to know you found and use that "treasure." Thanks for replying.
I sure hope you held onto the rifle featured in this video as it a real beauty and a powerful "thumper" (as in "If you thump it with a .35 Remington it tends to stay thumped.")when hunting deer, boar, and black bear in the Carolinas. Your rifle is also something of a rare bird, so speak, so hold onto it and don't let anybody talk you out of it. .35 Remington ammo IS available online and in some brick and mortar stores. I would strongly suggest using Remington 200grn JSP ammo as the brass is industry standard length and is hand loadable unlike the Hornady Leverevolution brass which is SHORTER than industry standards so as to support the "spire point" bullet used. Hornady also manufactures a JSP round for the .35 Remington that utilizes industry standard length brass and a JSP bullet. I have the twin to your rifle with the exception that mine is chambered in .30-30. My 336 Marlin, with the full length magazine tube, is chambered in .35 Remington and I would choose my .35 over the .30-30 in most dear hunting situations and for all boar and bear hunting.
FD Mackey I'm 100% with you I love my 35 Remington. Just took her out the other day looking for some whitetail. It has to be my favorite deer gun. And it shoots spot on out to 150yards I am using 200gr soft points from Remington they have dropped 4 deer with a single shot each. Shoot right where I aim as well. Plus I love the no scope hunting brings back the old days
Thanks for the kind reply as I was not sure you would see it after so long. Don't let anyone talk you out of that Marlin as it (or it's half magazine, "waffle top" design actually) is a somewhat rare bird. In 2012 I sold a full magazine 1954 336 in .35 Remington to one of my closest friends back home, and he has kept his freezer well stocked with venison since taking it to the field for the first time during the 2012 North Carolina and South Carolina deer season(s). He too uses ONLY the 200grn Remington rounds and has had one shot kills on all the deer he has taken.
Not true, the Hornady brass is SAAMI spec length, just like Remington brass.
It's ironic you called it a thumper as that's the nickname I gave to my 35.
Barred Sand Bass, Spotted Bay bass are exclusive to San Diego
I dont know if you fish or where you got that information but you are 100% wrong im sorry but spotted bay bass and sand bass are all over if you dont believe me feel free to watch my other videos where i catch them up and down the southern cost of California. it always helps to research be for commenting. if you were trying to ask a question then No spotted bay bass and sand bass are in every harbor that i have ever fished and in open water around southern California. they are a fun sport fish to catch..
hey where did you rent yours from
I dont know what you are referring to when you ask where i rented something. if you are asking if i rented a kayak I bought mine that from Ack.com. everything i use is owned not rented.. but if you can rent a kayak and try it out before you buy one so you know what you want in a kayak. they come in all kinds of different setups now days
are you fishing the incoming or outgoing tide? and what action were you using on the lure?
thank you. great video!
Where do you launch in huntington? I float tube newport a lot and usually just go off a beach
any of that parks you can launch from they all have little beaches
BenintheOutdoors alright thanks. Are u going to pu out any more videos soon
yeah I started a new career in real estate so it has been hard to have time to make video but yes there will be some more coming soon. this year has been crazy
ok thanks look forward to them
I used to float tube also, and I did HH once,.. never again! If you fish the shallow area, towards the PCH bridge, there's a pretty strong current you'll have to fight to get back to your launch. Something to consider..
Ben, great watching your videos. I use to fish Newport bay from shore, boat , floatube & now a kayak. I have a hobie marage drive. I noticed your boat has reverse. What boat it that? I think next week I'll try Huntington harbor. Where do you put in. Thanks for all your videos.
Nice !
is there plenty of docks to fish from i huntington?
No! you can not fish from docks they are private only
To many poachers here in Newport harbor to get a few big spotties 99% are micro spotties. Sucks
they are in there man but yes newport gets hammered by people keeping illegal fish. try to hit spots that people have a hard time getting to. stuff that you can only access in low tide!!!
Hey what's up man. I got another question what kind of yak do you have I like the reverse peddling. Hobie don't have that.
Pretty sure it's a Native Watercraft.
Just went today and caught nothin bro! Literally saw this video after though! Nice job! What time did you go out?
dusk and dawn are by far the best. but you can find them through out the day.. what were you using?
+BenintheOutdoors big hammer swimbaits mostly, but we didn't us the scent for them... Were you jigging your lure around the docks?
the trick is slow roll them, reeling super slow past the docks or structures. if you feel you swimbait touch the bottom ever once in awhile your at the right speed i used the 3/8 oz head because the 1/4 oz was to light when you reeled it in it would raise to much in the water column. also use the 3inch big hammers anything bigger they seam to not take as well
Man look at those houses! Awesome video!
Yeah there are some super crazy people living in them for the most part but every once in awhile there is a really cool person.. we had an old lady start talking to us and invite us in to her house to meet her husband who loves fishing but is now disabled so he cant do it anymore. their house was amazing like walking around a palace. it is crazy how much money some folks have!!
Wow. Cool story. Will check out that place some time. That is after those great whites leave hunting beach. :( Thanks for the comment back!
the whites never come in the harbor. but yeah they can be freaky man!! lol
so you find the bass under the structures?
Under structures or near structures they even hide around moaring lines but yes under the docks and boats
Nice video man! Sweet footage and nice fish! Im subbed, keep up the good work. Check out my channel, Nj Angler - ruclips.net/video/FS1SSBC-2u0/видео.html
Nice video once again man if you could checkout my channel and tell me what you think thanks!!!!
+Teen Tackle thanks man I just saw your channel great stuff
do you have reels designated or designed for saltwater? wondering if i can get away with using my freshwater baitcaster
+travis booth you can use fresh water reels just make sure after every fishing day you rinse them really well. the salt will dry and make salt crystals that will really mess up the reel. i keep a medium to big sized water bottle in my truck so when i come back from fishing i can rinse the reel off really well then at home i use the hose to rinse it again. better safe than sorry. also once every 2 months i clean my reels fully. i was fishing 3 to 4 times a week in the ocean. the reel i use most is an abu garcia winch and i just upgraded parts on it.
Was that beast at the end the sand bass? Cool lookin fish! Great video!
+Billy The Bass Assassin Yes Sand bass their are some big sand bass around those islands, also some huge white bass i have caught and seen white bass or ghosts around there that are 30lbs plus they are alot of fun
Hey i just got a kayak. I want to go fishing when you go. Where do you launch at?
+cool kayak just google map areas you can launch from almost any beach.. if it is your first time launch in the harbors first Huntington beach you can launch from oex kayaks
Hi, thanks for the video. I moved to alamitos bay recently and bought a kayak to fish. Could you recommend some good colors in the 3" hammers? If you guys ever fish alamitos bay I would love to tag along. I'm close to mothers beach. Thanks.
Hey srry got one more question haha but I'm from California as well and wanna start fishing in my kayak in the ocean and also harbors do you have to get a permit on the kayak to do that cause I know kern county I have to have a kayak permit to fish the bodies of water in the county so just curious about the ocean thanks
Hey I'm digging your black and purple baitcaster mind if I ask what brand it is.
It is my favorite reel. Abu Garcia revo winch. I just upgraded some parts on it. thank you for noticing. I have use that reel for 5 years now.
+BenintheOutdoors right on you can get upgraded parts from Abu?
+Casey Peredoe no there after market i bought them from www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/ it ships from Japan but i still thought is was pretty cool shipping took like 2 weeks
have you ever try fishing in open ocean water with that kayak?
+garry contreras Oh yeah gone out of dana point a lot and if you look at the other video chaffee island as well. I have been out about 4 miles at the most but I think the 13 foot model would be much better for open water. 10 foot is more for calmer days for sure but it works like a dream even in bad weather. I was out at the kelp in dana point and wind came up bad took me 4 hours to get back to the harbor and the waves were 4 to 5 feet it sucked bad but the kayak did great it filled up with water twice from wave crashing over and all i did was pull the plugs and drain it out and keep going..
excuse me sir what kind / type of kayak is that?
+Dawrongguy Native Watercraft Kayak slayer propel 10 freaking awesome yak!!!!
what kind of kayak is that?
+garry contreras Native Watercraft Kayak slayer propel 10 freaking awesome yak!!!!
+BenintheOutdoors where did you buy your kayak and what add ons did you put on the kayak?
+garry contreras I bought it from ACK.com not many add ons just some rod holders and under the seat tackle organizer
Thanks for sharing. I also saw the video of you fishing in Huntington Harbor. Which place do you prefer fishing / is more productive? Huntington Harbor or Alamitos Bay? Thanks.
+Hoyt Yee oh man they all have there moments.. HH has less boat traffic which is nice but all of them hold great fishing!!
Great Vid! What color swimbaits are the most successful in HH? Also, when is the best time to fish there? Morning / evening? Incoming or outgoing tide? Thanks.
+Hoyt Yee the colors change a lot in HH depends a lot on the water clarity and weather and cloud cover.. i would be trying darker colors right now like Halloween and spottie special.
+Thomas Barray once you get out there you might not go anywhere else !! it is really fun!!!
+Thomas Barray just save up it is like 50 bucks
+Thomas Barray just be care if it is windy Open water is freaky alone lol.. if the surf is bad launch from cherry beach and hit those oil rig islands in the long beach harbor
+Thomas Barray just be careful i dont launch in big surf i hate it.. plus it is not worth losing all your gear if you flip over!!!
where do u guys launch
+Duc Le launch from cherry beach i think it is the easiest.
Alright cool thanks I'm a beginner I just got a kayak
Duc Le this is a great place to launch as well www.google.com/maps/place/Kitesurfari/@33.7528172,-118.1350651,18.5z/data=!4m7!1m4!3m3!1s0x80dd306b8714e441:0xe8b1be611f954f5d!2sIsland+Chaffee,+Long+Beach,+CA+90803!3b1!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x1761793844328046?hl=en
+BenintheOutdoors cool thank u so much I'm gonna try it maybe I'll see u out there lol
what bait are you using I didn't see it I usually throw a little Texas rigged grub or spinner baits or ever once in a while a hammer
+Nathan Brown swimbaits!! small swimbaits are awesome all over southern cali. in all the harbors i use big hammers. i like them the best there is a little video i made on how you rig them!!
+BenintheOutdoors we throw big hammers every once in awhile the "spottie special" color lately with these crazy tides the fishing has sucked the only thing we've been getting them on is trolling a flicker shad
+Nathan Brown they love there cover you got to get your big hammers in next to the docks and walls.. at least your catching some most people arnt catching any lol.. try a super slow reel in keeping your bait bouncing off the bottom right now they want it really slow some times even stopped
+BenintheOutdoors I went out this morning and got one by the bridge on a hammer and I got 3spots and 2 sandys on a little jig
this is not edited just raw footage!!!
i live like 10min from there
+Cody Sampson get out there and fish it !!!!
+BenintheOutdoors Any spots you'd recommend fishing from the shoreline around there?
+Jeff Lazo any of the little parks with beaches you can shore fish but that is about it in the harbors. other than that surf fishing and that just takes some time to learn you just have to get out there and do it!!! lol
+BenintheOutdoors I've been doing good on the sand bass over in rainbow harbor. I've been on the hunt for some good spotties. I'm thinking I might have to rent a kayak there tomorrow. We're all those docks private docks?
Jeff Lazo yes rent the kayak and just have a blast fish all the docks in the HH you can there are some pigs in there!! so be ready i caught a couple four and five lbers
do you need any type of permit or something to fish there?
+Matthew Ballesteros just need a fishing license as long as you float around and dont go on any private docks.
+Michael Rahon good to know thanks for the info!
no problem man
+Matthew Ballesteros the other replies are right on, dont get on any docks. you need a valid CA fishing licence with ocean stamp. other that that just your fishing stuff. let me know if you go out there i would love to here how you do!!!
@@benintheoutdoors2588 And.. 2nd rod enhancement stamp
hey there, great videos man. lots of spotties out there! Anyways, I had a quick question for ya, my usual spot was just aways way from one of your shots, and if I wanted to fish more of the harbor area, would I need to be on a kayak or would I be able to access some or any of these locations via foot, legally? Thanks man, keep posting videos.
+Jeffrey Okabe so the law says all beaches are public from the median high tide mark and lower so you can fish from shore during the low tides i love doing that. just make sure you have public access in and out don't go through peoples yards. if they have walls you can go around them just stay below the high tide mark and your legal to fish. just watch the water level it will come in faster then you think and i have had to walk through chest high water to get back to the area we used to get access to the low tide area..
BenintheOutdoors Thanks for the reply man, much appreciated. I'll subsribe, get back out there and show us some more!!
+Jeffrey Okabe I moved across the country to North Carolina couple months ago but they have some awesome fishing out here i will get out there soon and post some videos again.. top secret info for ya 3 inch big hammers with 3/8 oz big hammer head flourocarbon leader and best color i have found was Deep purple hard to find but best color for Huntington and newport harbor. cast out let it hit bottom and slow roll it back in. the slow roll is the key once you get it you will be shocked how many spotties you catch.. good luck let me know how you do..
Thank ypu man!
