As antibiotic resistance continues to grow, we need new drugs that the bad bacteria in our bodies don’t recognize. With the help of the CLS, researchers from McGill University have discovered how molecular machinery inside microbes builds antibiotics. The molecular machines they studied are called nonribosomal peptide synthetases, or NRPSs. They build some of the most important compounds in cur...
New type of Li-ion battery could outlast EVs and still be used for grid energy storage
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.День назад
The push is on for batteries that can power EVs for decades, then be put to use for grid energy storage. Using the CLS, researchers from Dalhousie University have shown that a new type of lithium-ion battery called a single crystal electrode can be cycled more than 20,000 times - the equivalent of 8 million kms - without showing any discernible signs of internal damage. Regular lithium-ion batt...
Making solar cells more weatherproof
Просмотров 5914 дней назад
Solar cells, which convert sunlight into electricity, are increasingly being used to power everything from buildings and electric cars, to watches and toys. Using the CLS, researchers from USask recently discovered why a new type of solar cell, made with perovskite, is more susceptible to moisture. The team found humidity causes ions in the material to migrate to the electrode and corrode it, c...
Detecting osteoarthritis before patients need joint replacement
Просмотров 3214 дней назад
An imaging technique currently available only at synchrotrons like the CLS could one day enable doctors to detect osteoarthritis while patients can still be treated with medication - before they require joint replacement. In a pair of studies USask researcher Brian Eames and colleagues found that phase contrast imaging (PCI) detects very subtle changes in cartilage, meaning it could pick up on ...
Recovering in-demand metals for new electronics

Nearly all technology today-from cellphones to computers to MRI scanners-contains rare earth elements (REEs). With the help of the CLS, researchers from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) discovered that industrial-strength chemical adsorbents can be used to “soak up” one type of REE called lanthanum from water contaminated by runoff from mine tailings. If lanthanum gets into water, it poses...
Finetuning fertilizers for better crop yields
Просмотров 114Месяц назад
Worldwide, many agricultural soils are deficient in the nutrient zinc - despite the fact that farmers use fertilizers enriched with the element. This limits crop yields and reduces food quality. Using the CLS, researchers from the University of Adelaide discovered that lowering a fertilizer’s pH by spraying the granules with an acid solution increases the solubility and availability of zinc. Th...
Improving pulse flours for consumer use

Chickpeas, lentils, beans and peas are a fast-growing food market. To date, however, there has been little research on how best to process these pulses for making specific foods. There are no standards for what particle size pulses should be milled to, in the same way that there are for wheat and rice. Scientists from the University of Manitoba used the synchrotron to explore how particle size,...
Protecting northern water supplies from toxic metals in thawing permafrost
Просмотров 156Месяц назад
Climate change is causing arctic permafrost to thaw, which is releasing trapped material into the surrounding environment. Researchers from Carleton University recently studies permafrost samples collected in the western Yukon. Using the CLS, they found uranium and arsenic in the water released by these samples - and at levels considered unsafe for drinking. While the samples were collected in ...

Просмотров 105Месяц назад
Researchers from the University of British Columbia (UBC) used the CLS to study a bacterium commonly found in the gut of people who eat a plant-rich diet. They wanted to better understand what gives it the unique ability to break down dietary fibre. The ultrabright synchrotron light enabled the UBC team to determine the 3D structure and role of the proteins and enzymes the bacterium uses to car...
New compounds to combat antibiotic resistance
Просмотров 3882 месяца назад
To address the global threat of antibiotic resistance, scientists are searching for new ways to sneak past a bacterial cell’s defence system. Using the CLS, researchers from the University of Toronto have developed novel compounds that trigger bacterial cells to self-destruct. The new form of antibiotics is designed to target a naturally occurring enzyme called ClpP that chews up old or defecti...
Better monitoring of mining remediation
Просмотров 662 месяца назад
A new testing technique developed using synchrotron light could significantly improve how we monitor the effectiveness of remediation practices for removing selenium contamination from mining activities. Until now, there has been no way to determine whether selenium is likely to permanently dissipate as a result of remediation efforts, or whether it is being absorbed in nearby creeks or riverba...

I was with you till you said fuel. Hydrogen is far more valuable as a chemical agent , so replace the stream reformatting methane (Blue Hydrogen) first and see what you have left over from your curtailed renewables.
😅we'll information 😅
And where is the new membran now ? Was it tested ? Implemented anywhere ?
When I hear “vaccines” I’m reminded of Fauchi! 🧐
Great work and deep Knowles of a very serious issues hopefully this will.lead to.a number of safe treatments for those afflicted with this bacteria
Thawing is natural. These "toxins" are natural. I applaud the discussion, I reject the catastrophising.
very interesting, keep up the work
This is absolute propaganda and absurd. We all know carbon dioxide is toxic and dangerous just Google it. Even left wing Google permit the truth about the harmful effects of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide and immune system. This crackpot should be removed
🎉🎉🎉🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏
Many thanks for this video!
You're welcome!

Fascinating! Keep up the great work 🎉
Every time I hear “game changer”, I think of science fiction.
Today's science is the science fiction of the past.
Every time I hear it coming from the governments. I think money laundering! This is an old chemistry experiment that has yet to proven to be scaled up! We cannot get rid of all the Co2. If we do we all die! Everything dies!
Nice
That was delicious.
Well, I take anything without an effect side effects are part of medication that’s why you take them. It doesn’t make sense to have medication without an effect. That’s a placebo.

Hope one day we can have hemp involved with technology rather than using plastic.
Let's dive into the world of #Mebendazole cancer treatment, where we find new hope in fighting cancer, especially for kids. Here are some things to know: Mebendazole is usually used to fight worms, but now scientists see it can also fight cancer. When kids have cancer, the usual treatments like chemo and radiation can be really tough. That's why doctors are excited about #Mebendazole-it might be safer for them. Mebendazole can help with many types of cancer, like breast, colon, lung, prostate, ovarian, melanoma, leukemia, and brain cancers. Scientists did a lot of tests to see if #Mebendazole can fight cancer. It looks like it can! Mebendazole is special because it can kill cancer cells without hurting healthy ones. That's good news for kids fighting cancer. Doctors are starting to use Mebendazole even though it's not officially approved for cancer yet. They call it "off-label" use. Even though some rules might stop #Mebendazole from being used everywhere, many people believe it could change how we treat cancer, especially in kids. As scientists keep learning more about Mebendazole and how it can help fight cancer, there's hope that it could make things better for kids with cancer, giving them a brighter future. www.cancerdoctor.cc

this are not waves or radiation now i know ...what this are actually....after 6 to 7 years ....scientist will say that this are not waves but something different....bcouse the scientists are agent of the creator of this universe and wants to waste out time
The most important question/concern that I have is this: using this new imaging technique, is there a difference between natural bone and bone in humans treated with bisphosphonates??? This is SO, SO, SO important. We need to know why and how bone that shows increased BMD (Bone Mineral Density) from those drugs becomes brittle and can collapse with spontaneous fractures. Are bisphosphonates the biggest medical scam in the history of bone health management?
