How to Clean an RV Furnace - 101 Basics
A propane Leak test should ALWAYS BE DONE BEFORE , any propane accessory is installed! Why … How do you know that the system wasn’t leaking BEFORE the install….
Yep they are always done before and after.
I had a bathroom newly remodeled and after a year and a half the sink was draining very slowly. I figured out it was the glycerin soap I was using at that sink. Awhile back, I lived in an apartment where the shower drained very slowly like that from the time I move in. I figure it was hair products. They have been putting glycerin and silicone in shampoo and conditioner now for a while. They're gradually starting to do it less. I stopped using the glycerin in the sink. I used a slow-drain product and it didn't help much. I kept pouring dish soap down it and running hot water (I boiled some and filled the sink and let it go down all at once.) It may have helped some. Finally I tried the baking soda and vinegar and plunged it. It's now clear and I won't use that soap again.
Wow! I will have to remember that about glycerin. Great tip! Thank you!
All great advice. Prevention helps the most-from avoiding grease and food debris to the hair traps in the shower. Plumbing is always voodoo to me, so I try to avoid problems as much as I can.
Yes preventing it is best!
Great video awesome view from your campsite thanks for the drain open method we will use it when we get a clog . Keep up your hard work work love all your videos
Thanks so much!!
Great information. Don
Thanks Don!
V&B is the best! My grandmother taught me this!
Yes! Good ole fashioned V&B😊
I have been told by an RV tech that plungers should never be used on RVs, that the plumbing joints are not strong enough to handle that much pressure. Do you disagree?
I am going to ask some other techs and get back to you.
I don't live in my rv fulltime, so i'm so (newbee like) conscious of what goes into the grey tank, "😮, wipe that up before i wash it!" Kinda thing lol. If i cook anything that is greasy like bacon, i always make a tinfoil pouch n pour the grease into it, so i can toss it, n wipe up the rest with papertowel. I have this fabulous nonstick frying pan, literally is a cleanup job with just papertowel so it stays in the camper. I keep looking for better drain screens for the camper though lol. Got the hair snake for the condo, condo gets clogs, bad piping, people above clog it up, it backs into my place. Oh the joy of clogs 😡. But nice thing is RV can shake it up at least Lol 🍻
Yes and I use lots paper towels to get all the small things. The foil is a good idea too. When I had a house I had clogged drains all the time.
Hey another couple ideas I do to not get clogs I USA a drain screen I bought from temu it helps the hair stay on top another thing I have done from my RV to home in the drains use a shop vac I have done this for years it really helps another thing in my kitchen drain I use a dishpan wash dishes in a and dump water into the grass nothing nasty goes down the drain just a few ideas I use
Oooooh the dish pan idea! I keep forgetting about that. I need to find one skinny enough to fit in my sink.
Here's a great tip to avoid grease clogs for RV or stick &brick dwellers: when you have leftover bacon grease, etc. Sprinkle oatmeal on it to absorb said grease. After awhile (overnight) you just throw it away.
Good idea!
Good Morning The day that you stop learning is the day you die. Great tips! Keep doing good work and helping others learn in the RV world. 😊
Thank you and very true!!
I needed this today.
😊
Just from eating out at some nice places once in a while, over the years I've seen what idiots people can be. All it takes is a few drinks and they're YELLING AT VOLUME 12 at each other. And it's SO FUNNY when they're group is all drinking. yes, so amusing to their little group while everyone else's experience is ruined for the evening. Clowns. Most people have very little concept of respect for others.
Unfortunately this can be true!
Too bad your flight didn't go smoothly. Thanks for the video. ✌☮
Thanks! Most of the time flying is fine but lately, not so much!
$30,000-$40,000 vs. $100,000-$140,000? No Brainer. Give these some maintenance and they’ll last another 20 Years. Good choice. Thanks Deb!
I saw a nice one in Tucson
I miss my 2004 Lazy Daze. A shame they ceased operations due to not being able to get Ford chassis during the pandemic.
Is that the reason? I never knew why they closed. I assumed parts.
What do you do if you see soot in the exhaust pipe? Are there ways to fix this issue or is it best to have it professionally done? I have a 1999 tioga 23 b and where I live mobile techs and most rv dealerships don’t work on RVs that are older than 10yrs😢
That is more automotive tech stuff and I really don’t have experience there. I would contact local truck repair shops. Tell them what you have and see if they will work on it. It is not the RV side of things but the Chassis side.
Congrats to her 🎉 Great hearing positive stories. Thanks Deb. 😊
Yes! Positive stories are needed😊
So happy to hear la Mesa rv is a reputable dealership. Planning on visiting them very soon to purchase a new rv, I will definitely use you for an inspection, thanks for the video
You are welcome! Just let me know when you are ready😊
As always a great video. I like the mid Bath floorplan a lot. Love to have one of those.
Thank you and I do too! I think if I sell mine and purchase another Lazydaze I will get a mid bath.
Nice thorough job. Do yourself a favor and get the Milwaukee M12 caulk gun...you can thank me later 😊
Haha! I have one and haven’t used it yet. I’m sure I will love it!
@@debsrvservices Nice 👍 I use setting 1 or 2 to apply sidewall caulk and setting 4 to apply lap sealant on the roof.
@BrewCityRider thank you!!
Good video Deb. Interesting stuff.
So this lady that bought the rig is going full time...seems to me it was meant to be 🥳. Congrats to her for hiring u and learning, sounds to me this lady has been doing her homework vs the typical jumping in blind folded. I respect that 👊🏼. And well, u know that old saying when u say sarcastically "flying is for the birds!". 😂 🍻
Haha!!! Yes!!! Flying is for the birds! Yes it really was meant to be for her. I’m so happy it worked out.
Deb, thank you for your videos! What does an inspection cost like on a 40 foot rv? Just what you think a reasonable amount ball park figure that I might expect?
For a class A 40 ft they are around $1200 ballpark. If over 10 years expect to pay more.
From a retired RV technician in Quartzsite to a working one, Good Job ! I mine for gold now and I enjoy your videos to bring back memories to my past experiences. Keep up the great work Thank You ! 🎉 😊
Thank you and I’m happy you enjoyed it! Are you still in the Q? I will be there in December.
I am currently in Prescott Arizona boondocking and heading to Quartzsite tomorrow or Tuesday for the winter. My mining season starts November 1st so I need to get my equipment out and ready for the start. Thanks again for your experience as It makes me smile. I've been there ,done that.
I am in Tucson and starting the search for an RV. Anybody you recommend in this area for an inspection?
I will be in Tucson November 1. Fill out my contact form on my website and I will give you a quote. www.debsrvservices.net
Lot of negatives with regard to FR 525, folks are flying up and down that road causing crazy dust and then there's the trash/debris issue from the vagrant encampments. I've been there twice, 1st time and last time🙂
Yes! We like to walk the dogs but these people are flying down the road. I agree!
Love it, started exactly the same on my RV. Question to all of you out there: is there no easier way to remove all this old sealant with some kind of fluid or rubbing wheel? Any ideas?
There are ways to remove it on the roof with a power tool but you risk cutting the roof material I’m going to re do some of my sealant again because I’m showing cracks since making this video. I have a small razor and will use mineral spirits to remove. I will make a video again.
Excellent information. Boondocking can be iffy or good
Yep! Thank you!
We have a Lazy Daze similar to the one your friend owns. One of the things I like about it is how well it blocks out noise. Of course that doesn't help much if you want to open the windows. Enjoyed hearing your experiences. As a coincidence, we're on our way to Sedona.
Oh that is my Lazy Daze! What year is yours? I have the 2000. I love it!
@@debsrvservices 2001 midBath, same color as yours. We're the original owners.
Oh how nice!! I love the mid bath! I just inspected one in Oregon for a client.
The red dirt is a pain.
It sure is!!!
I like Debs Corner!
Thank you!!!
Morning Deb, sometimes life on the road is nuthin' but fun,,,,,,,, Glad you're doing ok, when things aren't as fun as you'd like just bring to mind the song from the days of Woodstock, "Keep Your Head Up,,,,,"
Hi Mike! Yes I will make it through the good times and the bad. You will be interested in my next video. I am talking about the Lazy Daze and this person had a stair reinforcement I discovered. I’m hoping the pics I have can work well In the video. I’m shooting it today for Sunday.
Hi, Deb! My hubby Paul said he met you today in Camp Verde. Yup, we are a YT subscriber of yours. Safe travels.
Yes!! You two have the yellow lab? I’m so tickled to meet people that watch my videos. Another couple came up to me while I was there. Very exciting! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing.
Thanks for the video! What brand of tire inflator do you use? Thanks!
The worst experience I had was at Death Valley, Stovepipe Wells. I paid for 4 nights and left after 1. This place is a very large dirt parking lot with no services and that was okay for me. But it filled to horribly crowded proportions. I couldn't use my awning because there wasn't enough room between my MH and the TT next to me. The Park Service had folks really packed in. There was 3 feet between my back bumper and the folks behind me. And people were there to party into the early hours along with barking dogs off leash. Lesson learned. I do like boon-docking but that wasn't what I had in mind. I stay away from red dirt too!
Ugh! Not my cup of tea at all. I would have left too.
I also stay there (525) quite often. :)
Oh nice! Is it normally crowded when you are there?
@@debsrvservices usually yes and weekends in particular, but I always find a spot. I usually stay at Greasy Spoon, which is towards the end. I think the 2nd one from the end….. see you there! :)
Definitely the tools I carry except for the little gadget that checks the depth of tread, never thought about that. Thanks for the video Deb. Hope your trip went well.
It was Interesting! Stay tuned🤣
So important to get an inspection... new or used. Thanks for the video.
Red dirt all over your pillowcase does not sound fun lol. Have you, or anyone you know Deb, ever had experience with AAA RV for emergencies on the road? I can remember the days when pretty much everyone carried a spare tire in their car. Do RV owners do this now?
Some owners do carry a spare but Motorhomes don’t typically have them. I don’t know about AAA but I carry Progressive with Road Side Assist.
I plan on having ear plugs just in case of noisy neighbors. I am a light sleeper and need my sleep.
Great idea!
I don't use apps, I rely on folks I meet along the way. Or in a commercial area ? Just ask permission So easy !
True!!!
Good tip on the red dirt.
Thanks!
Nice video, yes the good, bad and the ugly of boondocking. Also your not paying rent. Thanks Don
No, I pay when at a park. For instance, I’m staying in Tucson for the month of November so I will pay. Then I’m off to Quartzite and I may go back to a park in March.
Hey Deb! 😃 Thanks for the boondocking info. I will definitely keep it in mind when I hit the road. 😊
😧ugh! Thx for the heads up on red dirt. And it's mind blowing 🤯 how anyone can park right beside u when it's not a rv park of designated stalls 😵💫. Can u pull out pop up pylons and mark your space before this happens, does anybody do that? 🍻
Yes they do!!! It is probably the best way to keep people from parking right next to you. It is pretty funny how people just don’t have boundaries. Lol
If you love Sedona, then you must adopt the "Red Earth is Life" mindset. Cheaper than a spa!
Haha yes!!
I boondocked on 525 several years ago and the red dusty dirt was my biggest pet peeve and why I haven’t been back. I had a nice time overall and it wasn’t crowded.
It is beautiful there! That red dirt is something else haha.
I haven’t thought to try this!
How was the plumbing? I recently watched a video that stated that they had some issues.
Ahhhh, was that Rigor RV? Back when I inspected this the plumbing worked as it should. I do believe Brinkley changed their plumbing and they put the correct fastener on the flex tubing.
