Leaving the island of La Calzada after 2 day of holding medical, dental and surgical services for the many that came through the rain to see us. We were blessed. As a neuropsychiatric np…it’s interesting, we see lots of pseudo seizures…they call them a million different things…because we don’t want to imply that the patient is malingering…in the vast majority of cases, they’re not…but the mechanisms are different and need a different…quite a few of our patients also have partial or general seizures AND non-epileptic seizures…the EEGs look different…but treating these patients is difficult…many of our patients also have an acquired brain injury, which is my specialization…this adds yet another layer of complexity…because benzodiazepines are just so bad for patients with brain injuries…but also necessary…

But as a doctor don’t you know that he has no way to swallow his tongue. Weather it’s an epileptic condition or not, this should have been explained to them as they were misinformed and suffering greatly due to this misinformation.
"Swallow your tongue" is a popular phrase used by lay people to describe how during a seizure you often chew your tongue (very frequent event) and choke on your own saliva. This can cause brain damage due to airway obstruction. It does not mean you literally swallow your tongue. Everyone knows that.

You can't swallow your tongue. Listen to Omar Danoun. Dr. Danoun is an epileptologist. Non epileptic seizures are real seizures. There is a change in the brain and it is a real condition that is not epileptic.

That is correct. That is why you must give lidocaine slowly IO after inserting the EZ-IO prior to giving the IV flush or high pressure infusions.
Absolutely after 5 years of critical care and mainly ED RN experience I haven’t had the luxury of giving any analgesia prior to ACLS medications etc. My current hospital doesn’t allow RNs to perform IO access which I think is asinine especially being that we train to do so, currently lobbying for a change because many a code situation leaves us without proper access and waiting on a mobile ICU RN or physician to halt direction of the code or trauma to assist in access.
