How To Make a Realistic Cable Carrier Chain in Solidworks | Solidworks Tips & Tricks
Have you ever had the need or desire for a proper cable carrier chain movement in Solidworks? that is to say, that the chain links fold and unfold according to the movement of whatever they're mounted in. In this video I'll show you how to do this using the elusive chain component pattern feature so you can show off your skills as a CAD designer.

Solidworks Performance Tips: STOP Using Realistic Threads! Use Cosmetic Threads Instead!
Просмотров 658Год назад
Using the thread function is pretty, but Solidworks really struggles when it comes to helicoidal shapes. If you really need to save some time and file size and a realistic thread is not critical, then it's best to use a cosmetic thread! This will help your file become lighter and faster to load, what's to hate about it? 📑 Chapters: 0:00 Intro 0:40 Thread vs Cosmetic Thread 1:45 Add a Cosmetic T...

Thanks 🙏
where did you get that hinge model? I need that...
I believe I got if from a company website called 8020. You'll need to look for the model, since I don't remember the name, but it belongs to the 'Series 40' class
Finally! How does it get turned off accidentally? Is there some random shortcut to toggle it?
I honestly don't know! But it does happen a lot
Great video, thanks!
In the first few seconds of the video, how are you using Insert Component and adding the same part multiple times? Are you holding Ctrl, Shift, or Alt? I try Insert Component but when I click the part to insert you function goes away and I have to click Insert Component again.
The same window on the left with the options for inserting components has a toggle button on the top right corner in the shape of a... Needle with a handle? Sorry for not knowing the translation, but that button turns blue when clicked on it and then the window stays on until you click the button again.
@@solidsensei YES THANK YOU WOW I didn't know that after 10 years. Thank you
no lie this is one of the best solidworks videos ive seen on YT. Most videos don't do a good job and have 1 super easy and not relatable example.
Thanks for that comment! It is my pleasure to be of help ;)
@@solidsensei pls come back to YT. No uploads in 11 months 🥲 Appreciate that you are still replying to comments tho.
Thank you Sensei! Great video.
It is my pleasure ;)
I love you so much
Thanks! It solve my problem
So helpful.
This helped me lot. Thank you..
Thanks for your support ;)
Thanks a lot brother
You're welcome ;)
Exactly what i needed
Thank you so much brother 👍🏼😭
I'm happy to help ;)
Thank you very much, this helped a lot.
I'm glad to be helpful! Thanks for the support
I try on profile angle bracket but it work only for one surface .
Solid work visualise videos animation
Thank you this was so helpful.
Thank you ❤
Really appreciate it was very confused
First of all, thanks for the great video! It's a great explanation, I was wondering if you could walk me through a similar set up. Specifically if you were to pause the video at 4:02, if there was a gear placed on the curved section, and you have the same layout, how would you make both ends of the chain act according to the rotation of the gear? (if there were locked along the path in the sketch you have drawn). I am having trouble doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. I assume you have a mechanism similar to a rack and pinion then, probably a bike! I've never tried something similar, but there is an advanced mate called "rack and pinion" or something similar that does that job, although I don't think you need to use my chain method for it to work. Who knows, maybe both methods are compatible!
You are amazing. thank you so much.
You're welcome. Thanks for your support!
thank you so much
Thanks bro
Hey bro why I can't see the point on the coordinate axis for drawing center poi t circle
Great way to save time. Another way is to use the solidworks feature "copy mates." You will still need to mate at least one component; however when using the feature solidworks will remember the mate features and allow you to paste as many components as needed.
You know, I've seen that option and never cared to use it. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks man! This was very heplfull for my workproject in uni.
Glad to help!
Bro, thank you for this video, very useful and visually, only after your video I finally managed to create a really working model
Thank you so much for your support. It is a very tricky process indeed. I had my share of suffering when trying to develop this and I felt that I had to tell everybody. Spread the word!
Thanks! This helped so much
thanks dude
❤
it works again, thanks
Great video my friend, good luck with your channel, I know how hard it is to produce good content
Thanks for that, I really appreciate it. This kind of comments are the kind that can fuel a content creator.
Keep up the good work man!!😜@@solidsensei
Thank you 😊 bro
GENIUSSSS, THANKS FOR MAKING A RANDOM SHORT OF THIS, LY
Good to know it helped you! Thank you ;)
Broo how to angular spring motion draw
You have to be more specific because I can't find anything like that thing you meant. Can you provide examples?
Thanks
You're welcome!
wow, such an amazing tips. thank you for the tutorial, Sir. Please continue with the library component that combine with mate references, is it possible to do? Keep share all you know about how to create anything faster and efficient. I'm starting subscribing you.
Thank you! I'm glad you found this useful. I'll definitely keep doing these videos for a long while. Thanks for your support. As you see, I'm barely starting, so if you can share this channel and my videos I'll be very grateful. What you mean for another video is to create a library component that uses mate references? Is that what you meant?
@@solidsensei Yes it is, Sir. Because i frequently using the same component for different project, then i imagining it will be nice if i can just drag and drop from library window. Thank you for your respons.
I have a D-Shaped hole feature that I pull in from my parts library. There is an LED module that sits inside the D-Shaped hole, and I would like to use smart mates in an assembly. Is it possible to add smart mates to a Library Feature part?
I haven't tried it, but I don't think so. After all, your library feature will be used in a lot of different parts, not necessarily with the same references always. I think it would be best for you to create a part with multiple configurations and then add the mate references to the part itself
How can i make this work with profiles i create with weldments?
Well, I don't see why this same method wouldn't work. This should work for profiles extruded from a sketch, imported bodies or extrusions made from the weldments module. Let me know if it doesn't!
❤
It's works🎉🎉
I'm happy to help pal ;)
