The Old Main Guy
Добавлен 12 янв 2017
Welcome to my channel! As you can probably tell, I like trains. While my favorite places to catch trains are along the former B&O Old Main Line (hence my channel name), you will notice from my created playlists that I railfan in many different areas, primarily in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. I even occasionally plane spot, mainly in the Baltimore region. My videos are intended to inform and entertain viewers about trains, as well as railroad history itself. Be sure to like and subscribe for more content!!!

Just the way I like it: LOUD!
Maryland Midland has some very cool EMD locomotives especially SD50s, this is a cool railroad to catch trains!
Awesome catch! 5020’s K5LLA is great, SD50s are cool locomotives
@@TheMetGuy Thanks for commenting again!
Great horn on that lead engine!
@@thepozfromoz5166 Thank you! I agree, I really like 5020's horn. Easily one of my favorites
Nice catch
@@csxtrainfan319 Thanks for watching as always!
How loud was it?
@RAtheGoodRailfanner_888 I don't have the number but it's borderline ear-piercing because there are no restrictiors on the horn. 5018, another SD50 with a K5LLA on this railroad, has restrictiors and is much quieter
About 144 dbs

This is why I usually keep both of my phones in the car until i hear the train, Especially with blazing heat and freezing cold
@csxtrainfan319 Yeah, I probably should've done that. I do stay off of it in the cold though as many times my battery has drained like crazy
I think the age on your phones played a part, mine are about 8 and 4 years old. What was the temperature and humidity when you took this?
@csxtrainfan319 My phone wasn't even a year old when this happened, but it's completely black which doesn't help in the heat. I believe it was around 90 with 60% humidity
Odd, but I know black absorbs heat. My 8 year phone is white and my 4 year one is red and the temperature at that time was surprisingly warmer than the temperature here in SC on that day. Temperatures was about 85 with little to no humidity and was like this throughout the entire month of June

CSX 5376 has some sort of K5HL, there were 2 videos that I found back in 2009 that were only taken a month apart. It sounds similar to CSX 5476 fouled K5HL
@@csxtrainfan319 Interesting. This is like the 3rd different opinion I've heard about this horn, so I'm not exactly sure what it is or what the actual horn is. I'll take your word for it though!

How has your 2024 railfanning been
@csxtrainfan319 If I had to sum it up in 1 word, efficient. There haven't been too many days that I've gone out, but whenever I go out I make sure to never leave emptyhanded. In my most recent update video I touched base on this as I've tried to maximize my outings. 2024 hasn't brought me as much rare stuff as 2022 and 2023, but it's still been satisfying. I apologize if I'm giving you a dissertation for an answer, but that's the best I can give you. What about you?
1 word, consistent. I’ve consistently caught at least one train day with a few exceptions like February and July
