This was such an amazing performance! Too bad that it was Larry Ward's final drill!! This same exact year, the military band that I marched in (China Spring Cougar Band from China Spring, Texas, graduated Class of 2015) also played Seventeen Come Sunday! It was fun! We played it through the Oklahoma Turn and Squirrel Cage drills! Fun times!

Beautiful opening - RRodgers - "Victory at Sea" - nice! "Sea Songs" Beautiful section and full band sounds!! Again, these directors are using their formations to set up a concert stage!

Watching this - I'm reminded of how this band uses its formations early on to establish a 'concert stage' outside... tone quality and presence of sound is outstanding. I love the use of Clifton William's music to begin & end the show. His music is a challenge to play...

In watching many of Larry Ward's bands, I am struck with the good variety of music he chooses for the kids... different marches - and ending with selections pulled from classical literature. Nice to hear a band play a Russell Alexander march!

I like 'Cyrus' at this stately tempo - everything is well-defined. Nice low brass/reeds. Cyrus is every trombone player's dream! So nice also, to hear the piccolo solo in the trio of 'Double Eagle' (well-played!!). Tasteful clip of the Saint-Saens... this band plays so well.

Mr. Ward always chooses great music!

We also march 6 to 5 military. China Spring is a small town situated just northwest of Waco. We are the only military marching band in our entire area. You'll find more of our performances at my channel. There are, however, two military bands at Region 8, the other being Fairfield.

Check out our performance from 2014-2015! We also have Seventeen Come Sunday in our program. We barely missed State by a couple of points. China Spring Cougar Band, UIL Region 8, Area D!
