Hi Jenny, new subscriber here, thankyou for subscribing to my channel. Lovely video, you can’t beat a bit of cheerful pottering amongst the veg😅.
everything is looking superb i cant bloody wait for spring XD , i just sowed a load of first early peas meteor i think they are i useally sow in nov but forgot to buy seed so did it today , i grow up a teepee and nets and iv wrapped with fleece , so depending on the variey that those peas are you might get away with wrapping them back up even if you take the tops off for pea tops now they could grow out and be bushyier then before by spring so id leave them in never know <3
Lovely update, I just want the postman to hurry up 😂
@@TheRightPearPlot ah man!! Hope they arrive soon, post lots of progress updates for us all to watch! 🥰
they have just arrived!!!
@TheRightPearPlot yeehaa! Get sowing! 🤣
@ now I have to warm some compost 🤣🤣 not thinking this through very well 🤣
😂😂 colossal onions hey. They look good Jenny I potted mine on they are sulking 😢 but hopefully 🤞 they will be ok. Awesome job have a super weekend, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
Looking magic.. A rosette with your name on it come aug
🤣 I'm going for the horse one! 🤣
Great update Jenny, the seedlings are looking good.
Hey they are looking good , soon be time to pot on 👍
Brilliant update Jenny, really well put together. I’m having an onion LIVE tonight on my channel at 9pm, would love to have you join us and hopefully there will be plenty of people in the chat to help, should you have any questions. Take care, Pete.
Live was great, thanks for hosting! X
@@Plot_No13 Thanks for joining in Jenny, it all got a bit hectic, with so many people commenting, but I tried to keep up with the questions and make everyone feel welcome and part of the discussion. Hope you got something out of it and I look forward to your next update, take care, Pete.
🤢 I just let them get on with it, I wouldn’t be able to pick them off!!!!!
@HollyMaysGoodLife you know I've only had to do this once since July. I box them up and take them home to much my garden instead. I hardly get any slugs now! .... fingers crossed!
Hi Jenny. I enjoyed the video. I liked the plant pot heater idea. I'll give that a go when I build my first greenhouse next year. Cheers 🙂
Hello! New subscriber here! You have a lovely plot!!! Maybe cover the peas to give them some warmth but shoots will be good too!! Well done 👏
Thanks for the tips, always welcomed! 😂 thanks so much for the sub 🎉
New sub here ☺️ I need to site my onions got the challenge soon 😂 late to the party. Good luck 🤞
@TheRightPearPlot Thanks for the sub! I have returned the favour 😀 Good luck on your Onions! I was also late to the party but its still good fun! 🤩
😮 very nice
Thanks 😊
It would be worth testing the Compost Thermometer in some warm water to find out if it actually works ... and in the Compost Bins mix in shredded paper or cardboard to help soak up the excess moisture & provide a good green / brown material balance
Hi Jenny don’t know where my previous comment has gone, thankyou for subscribing but I’ll be doing a RUclips channel with a different name, and yes I will be sticking around to watch you on the plot, can I ask where you got you profile pic from, take care Steve x

Good luck with the onion challenge👍 Elaine 🌱🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅
Great update Jenny, just something to think about, you have a 60, I believe cell tray, as the onions grow on, we will be repotting them into bigger and bigger pots, unless you have some more grow lights you can use, I think you will run out of space for them, as these will be under the lights for quite a while. Another idea maybe to save some for planting at the end of December and not using grow lights for them, that’s what I’ll be doing. I think most people agree that a fan is a good idea, to circulate the air and help strengthen the plants. The supplements are for potting on later, but it’s great that you have them already, getting some mycorrhizal fungi might also be worth getting, as a lot of people use it, and it can be used for many other plants as well. Vitax do a good one, called Q4 rootmore I’m doing an onion live on my channel next Friday at 9 and Duncan will be on it as well, so if you have any questions, he will be happy to answer them. It’s great to have you growing along with us, keep up the good work and hopefully see you on the live next Friday, take care, Pete.
@@Petetrenouth amazing! I never considered the space issue!! 🤔 I will get some of the root more stuff for sure. Thanks for the advice! I will deffo be joining the live next Friday! 🥰
🐝 Thanks for the great video 🌻 subscribed
@@BumblebeeAdventure thanks for much for the sub! I'll return the favour x
That’s a great update Jenny, it’s kind of your neighbour to let you use their greenhouse, it’s a fantastic additional growing space and was that sweet peas I spied in there looking good? I also love the fact that you are trying new things and experimenting with new ideas, it’s a great way to gain experience, I’m doing the same, all part of the fun.
not heard of that method for carrot fly,i try to use micromesh netting instead .you can buy long burning tea lights for the pot heating method, 👍enjoyed the video
I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it because it didn't work and was a load of rubbish! 😂
@@Plot_No13 🤣🤣🤣
I answered 3 of your questions lastnight Jenny but for some reason my comment has disappeared
Look at that sunshine 🌞. I didn’t do any green manure but after listening to Tony O’Neill yesterday on a live I can see the reasoning. My problem is I forget and they go to seed 😂. Oh squiggying up is good 👍. All edible Jenny a golf ball eats as good as football. Ok,if you had been left outside in the dirt you’d have a bit of frost damage 🤭🤭. I’m doing soft kales for winter because I’m hoping even if they don’t get big I can chuck them in salad. Swede looks fab I didn’t grow them at all. Will you bubble wrap the glass house? Great update Jenny keep up the fab content, Ali 🥶🌧️🇨🇦
@myrustygarden my glass house is right up against my wall and is south facing so I'm hoping it will be ok as we don't really get hard frosts in the garden... hope I haven't jinxed it now!! Love your videos, you do make me laugh! 😆
Looking awesome Jenny, I’d resow now so they are not too far behind. Don’t water them too much 😢😢 I am always overwatering and damped off my seeds a few times. They should not need any feed yet I’d say. Fans yes lid no 👍👍. Have a super weekend, Ali 🌧️🥶👍
@myrustygarden Righty-o! I'll get sowing tonight, thanks for the tips!
Hello, I am using a fan to keep air moving around the seedlings and prevent any moulds starting and also to strengthen the seedlings 🌱the compost additives are for use a bit later on as they grow at the moment they need very little nutrients so the compost should be enough 👍
@GanggangPeanut OK, perfect, I shall hold off for now and get a little fan on order. I could do without mould for sure!!
@@Plot_No13 😂😂
I have 4 questions in this video, if you think you can help, skip to them using the chapters and leave a comment! Much love! ❤

@Sellers707 good luck with your Onions! I will subscribe to your channel and follow your journey. Thanks for the comment 👍 😀
Great idea Jenny and yes always good to warm the soil up first 👍. I agree with Mark micoryzal bla bla 😅 I can never spell it works great to promote roots but use it sparingly. Happy Monday, Ali 🥶🌧️🇨🇦
Thanks for the tips! I've always used willow water to help cutting root. I'll give the microtzyal bla bla a try though if it's more successful! 🤣
@ I have heard of willow water and it contains salicylic acids, like aspirin can be used too if in water 👍👍
@myrustygarden I feel an experiment coming on! 🤣🤣🤣
@ snicker snicker and rubbing hands together I love an experiment 🧪
i enjoyed watching that video,i have just discovered something called micoryzal fungi...its used to help with root development on plants ,it is use by some people to transplant seedlings and pot on cuttings..i learn something new everyday 👍👍
Is that aka rooting powder?
@ yes I believe it is 👍
🤦♀️ ok honestly I have tried to overwinter things and I end up with mouldy stumps, not a bad thing for a Mummy movie 🎥 but not so good for a plant. Awesome update Jenny 👍👍, Ali 🌧️🥶🇨🇦
I shall keep an eye on my mouldy stumps! 😂😂😂 Thanks for your comment. ❤
Free plants , that’s what I like 👍
They look like they take root really easily, I think even I could manage to do it, will give it a go. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! These and cockraoches will be the last to leave the planet 😂😂😂
@ 😂😂
Woo hoo love free seed. Good luck with the onion challenge it should be great fun, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦. #gogc2425
@@myrustygarden good luck to you too! Love this challenge idea already! #gogc2425
Well done Jenny 👍 welcome to the #GOGC2425 it is going to helps us all be better at growing onions…hopefully 😂😂
Thanks!! Good luck and hope you grow a whopper! 😆
@ 😂😂👍
That’s a great start Jenny, good plan letting the compost warm up a bit before planting, as they do need to be around 20 degrees to germinate quickly. The seeds from Fosters, do seem to be a good size and quality, so hopefully they will soon be up for you, in about 7-10 days. Best of luck with them. 🧅👍
Mint dies in the winter and comes back in spring as long as it’s wet they will be fine
@@StellasVegetablegardens brilliant! Thanks very much for the reassurance, I've got them at home with me now so I can keep an eye on them! Xx
It looks amazing.
Fantastic!
@@KirstyHart-nq4wk thanks so much!
Great video, it's fun to watch people get things done. ☺Thanks for tips on pruning the currents. Are you able to grow garlic this high in the soil, or do you plan to cover them later?
@trold1969 I've always grown my garlic this way but I see lots of people burying them. If I bury them they always seem to just rot.
@@Plot_No13 Interesting. Different methods work in different growing areas. ☺
The soil on the plot looks fantastic, the worms must love it 👍
New sub here and I’ll pass on your channel 👍. 😂😂 that’s what I was thinking 🤔 with my luck I’d poke my hands in the soil and find a rat tail 🤢. Just got my garlic in the other day but I did most in pots as last year it all rotted in the snow and rain 😢. Onions look amazing. Moles are a pain but it means the soil is rich and houses lots of worms too hence the lots of moles. Are they weeds or self seeded things out of,the homemade compost, last year I had a tomato jungle 😂. Anyway sorry to keep rambling, have an awesome weekend, Ali ☔️🇨🇦
Ah wow! Thanks for the sub! I will check out your channel and return the favour! That's so interesting about the Moles! Thanks for your lovely comment, I really appreciate it 😀
Nice content 😊
@@Petersallotment Thanks, and thanks your for the comment. I will check out your channel now! Have a great weekend!
No Dig is def the way to go. I have couch grass on my plot too and use cardboard to smother it. Thicker layers of cardboard are better as it breaks down so quickly - the more the merrier as far as cardboard is concerned!
@myslicechannel I am totally new to no dig, feels kinda weird but also a light bulb moment at the same time! I am turning into a cardboard box hoarder now for sure! 🤣🤣
@@Plot_No13 Know the feeling! Do you follow Charles Dowding? He has helped me a lot with my allotment.
My garden is FULL of couch grass and just can't seem to get on top of it. Even though it's covered it just seems to continue to run underground 😢😢
@@Iamhome365 Yes it is really strong and survives by spreading underground. If you are using only cardboard you will need several layers to make it really thick and exclude light. This will need to be added onto as the cardboard degrades. Whatever cover you are using it can take at least a year to smother couch grass but you could use salt and vinegar around the edges - great weed killer as long as you don't put it where you want stuff to grow! Edges are good though as it should slow the growth and allow you to get on top of it. Keep it smothered, don't let it get to the edges where there is light and you will keep weakening it until it dies.
Pumpkins looking good
@GardeningforBeginners ah thanks very much! Very late into the ground this year, I'll do better next year! Love your channel by the way x
Not all slugs are bad,i have a video on my channel that may help you 👍i love your plot ,very smart...New subscriber here 👍
Yes I read somewhere that some slugs eat only rotting material and some slugs eat other slugs! I've only had to clear the plot once and they were mainly those Spanish slugs! I will check out your channel, thanks very much.❤
The thing about wood preservative is that it is poison designed to stop rot.
