    Goodness. I cringed when I imagined the other minister weaponizing John 3:16. I absolutely loved the conversation about the difference between an impossible conversation to a difficult conversation. And then, how Roxy invites us to determine the purpose behind the conversation we want to have, was such a good reminder. If we have a legitimate purpose to stay in that conversation, we form our boundaries in how we will proceed. If those cannot be met, we have permission (from ourselves, most importantly) to choose walking away. I will need to check out this book. Sounds like some great complimentary material towards my DEI work.

    I think a lot of us who grew up in the northeast feel that we don't have a problem or "as much" of a problem with racism but we certainly do. Maybe the big difference is slightly more support for policies that support minorities but still that same mindset lies within! Great episode and I will be checking out this book!

    This definitely resonates with me Anne-Marie. I feel in many aspects of my life that i am afraid to take risks, I procrastinate a lot, suffer from analysis paralysis and even imposter syndrome in my career. I really feel the fear often in my life and I realise that this includes my homosexuality. It is something that I need to do a lot of work on to become my authentic self but also to become a success in other areas of my life.

  • @idh9395
    @idh9395 3 месяца назад

    I can really relate to this Anne-Marie. My upbringing and peers have for me moulded me into my conditioned self. So i am very insular and compartmentalised in my thoughts and feelings, i suffer from lack of confidence as well as overwhelm and procrastination in my life in general, and i have always been concerned by how i am perceived by others. So it really makes sense that these aspects of myself are linked to my sexuality and internalised homophobia.

    "Lost of privilege" is an excellent way so thanks for sharing. My gf asked me the other day how I came out to my parents. It was a mess and if I had too, I wouldn't do it again but did to be honest to my family on who I was. Living in Idaho and still do has made me from day one not shine and keep things private in my life. I told my gf that she will know when the time is right and her living in Utah is the same thought as Idaho. Stay quiet and only shine when you know you will be safe. A very long story but just wanted to say thank you for the 'lost of privilege' words.
