I have a 08 Dodge Avenger and my problem occurs at take off. It has a bumping and Knocking noise and depending on how much açceleation , the more louder it gets til it shifts??

Its your lower control arm. BallJoint and Bushing needs replaced. Do both sides.

This is the dram shaft there is two on for torn left and right and on for move stranth so put some cris oil on it or change it for better solved

Hi all. I had the same problem with my Sebring 2010 and I can say you for sure that it is NOT a rack and pinion problem! The problem is in the inner tie rod! So, don’t spend your time and money for the rack and pinion replacement, just change the inner tie rods and this problem will go away. Like my comment to let more people see the solution.

It’s a busted sway bar mount , got the same thing in our 2008. Main mount on drivers side is broke & the bar is free to move around , not good.

it could be a lot of things but since you said it does the noise if your in park with the car off then it might be your steering rack and pinion u should get that rack checked out!

Just got back from dealer with my wife's 2012 Avenger making the same noise. It was the upper bearing plates on the front struts. Quoted $1100 to replace them.

it was the rack and pinion correct. everything on the front end of my van has been replaced except the rack and pinion and i am getting the same noise

I hear the same thing in my 08 Dodge Avenger... Mine makes that same clunking noise only when I go over a bump.... I haven't investigated much, I thought it was the struts. I owned mine since brand knew, but the noise dint start until 70k miles and now it has 121k miles on it and it still makes the same noise. My father said it could be the struts, then he also said check the wrack opinion bolts....

Rack and pinion for sure, go to any garage and change the entire system R&R tie rods and boots and change yr R&R entire steering have to be changed, hold the steering wheel with yr 2 hands then shake it back and forth if it's moving then will be your rack and pinion

our 2012 did this even after replacing the sway bar links, unfortunately the nut in the back that holds the link on, doesn't like to stay tight and the knocking came back. After tightening them, problem solved and knocking is gone.

My 2009 Avenger is doing the same thing, took about 20 minutes before it would happen.Dealership is still investigating.

did you find out what it is? mine is an 08 and does it too. im told i have a bad outer tie rod... could it be that?

lower control arm or its your cv axle is bad or its a outer wheel hub bearing or your front strut is bad there 80.00 dollars a piece depends on your autoparts store ive got a 2008 avenger sxt model and i hit a curb and bent my inner tie rod arm and blew out my brand new mich- tire and bent my rim and strut just replaced my inner tie rod and strut all new and put the wheel back on and found out as i go over bumps or over pot holes it makes rattle and popping noises , i just waiting on the weather to break here and i will get to the bottom of this issue and share it back with you till then just baby it till i get back to you but if any thing i will tell you exactly whats wrong with it its your cv axle joint tell the stupid dealership guy that i went through that issue 3 years ago with my dealership people and i kept telling them i am a grad from Votec Mechanic school and i know a bad axle sound when i hear one and hearing it even as you make a turn its there thats a bad cv joint axle in your front end that spins and turns your wheel get them to change your cv joint axle and you will see that im right have a nice day !

Yep had the same noise in my car. Turns out it was the hooker I had tied up in the trunk. She chewed through the rope and was beating on the trunk lid.
