This is a disgrace , the mod should be grateful that Monmouth allows them to be in the Town . A very cheap way to reinstate this crossing for residents could be done. Just making a footpath for pedestrian, cycle and wheelchair access. The mod have already spent more money than this would cost by erecting a Colditz type barrier . Not many people understand what the army actually do in Monmouth . They are quite willing to spend thousands of pounds on their Parties but not on this important issue. So come on Royal ‘Engineers’ it’s time for you to repay the debt you owe to the People of MONMOUTH .
It's am embarrassing situation for a bridge built by engineers and on a camp of tge royal monmouthshire royal engineers. There was a time this would have been fixed by them in a day for training. Shameful.
It should be a top priority to get this bridge fixed, what is actually making it unsafe for us pedestrians? Which body needs to be contacted to speed things up please?
Users complained that the bridge was unsafe
Yep, thats weird alright
When the inside voice comes out at the wrong time lol.
How lovely. Such a tribute.
Thank you
Beautiful thank you!
Thank you
Yes Catherine! ❤️🔴🌹🛑😁♥️🙏🎈
Just a few highlights from the Ploughing Match. Hope you enjoy it!
I thought all the Barrage Balloons were gone. Especially since I've never heard of them being used since the end of World War II. How'd this one survive?
I have four in my collection! Survival down to Luck I guess.
@@videosforfun4727 Thank you. That's all I needed to know.
If stored dry and at a sensible temperature they can survive quite well. Many were cut up for car covers in the 1960's! My father ordered a car cover and recognised what it was !
Update 29th August 2023- Monmouthshire County Council announced today that they have had to cancel their planned closure because of a "non-compliant tender". If they cannot produce a compliant ender what chance do they have of fixing a bridge?
I understand your frustration but you dont suggest any alternatives?
A number of alternatives have been suggested but at this point in time MCC refuses to engage with the community. It seems MCC is not interested in having a dialogue with Wyesham and Monmouth residents. Utterly unacceptable and this is not a way to treat Wyesham and Monmouth residents. There are a number of alternative solutions.
@videosforfun4727 what about other residents of the wye valley are their needs unimportant? Have you shared the other alternatives?
@@JustllewYT The other residents of the Wye Valley will have to travel to Monmouth via Llandogo-Trellech or Whitebrook which simply makes the traffic flow ludicrous. Our alternatives are being considered by MCC but I am not holding my breath.
What have MMC been doing with the money allocated for regular maintenance as it’s so old, these are the questions that need to be asked
Very well thought through, level headed and strongly presented video on a topic that is clearly an extremely important topic to the local community. Hope this spreads the word and persuades the council to take a different approach.
Absolutely agree with all that was said. It's a disgrace and shameful way to treat tax paying residents.
Valid points. This has not been well thought out. Repair has been delayed for a long time, and there is no talk of a suitable replacement bridge, which would be the safest and best long-term solution.
Walking is healthy for you.
yes, for those who are able to walk, it's fine. Not all of us can manage that.
Excellent Alex..so well put..👏👏
Utterly brilliant speech Yvonne keep up the good work that you do
Well said Yvonne wot a wonderful woman you are respect to you
Is this Cillian Murphys wife?
I thought so too but her surname is different
@@snehanair2246 looks like her
No idea
Well of course her surname is different, they’re not inbreeding
No
Great speech from a lovely woman. Monmouth deserves a change from the mean David TC Davies from the Nasty Party
Thanks
Apologies for the sound content, this was alongside a busy road and at a later stage it rained quite heavily.
Wonder if you could actually tether it to the ground and fly it like in the war? Still, remarkable find. What's it made from?
It is made from rubberised cotton type fabric. To fly it would require so much Helium (20,000 cubic feet) that the cost would be astronomic. Also insurance to fly and Civil Aviation rules would be very difficult to meet. Hence air inflation and ground based.
A piece of history!
Great to experience something that is rarely talked about on TV these days
@@videosforfun4727 Oh yes. Have you considered filling it with helium or hydrogen and tethering it?
@@WarhammerWingsYes I have it would cost a fortune. Plus the public liabilty insurance would be pricey
Awesome
It is quite an experience.
@@videosforfun4727 I've always wanted to jump onto one. 😜
@@wisteela Biggest airbag you could do it on
@@videosforfun4727 Yeah, that would be fun. I wouldn't want to risk damaging it though.
Excellent. Where did you get this from?
I just keep digging in barns and sheds!
It's amazing that these things are still out there.
Love it. I thought non of these balloons would be still around. Is it the only one in existance? As far as I know only two winch lorries (in RAF Hendon) are around.
There are a number hekd bythe IWM but they will nevers ee the light of day
THis Barrage Balloon is being air tested after 24 years of being last inflated. All went well. It is in near perfect condition.
