Good Movie God bless
Thanks for showing these old films. In particular 1940's - 1950's. They're Even better than today's movies they pass off as entertainment. 😅😅
Excellent story,great film
The crucifix reminded the Catholic hierarchy to keep their lie that they are the true church not the Jews!!? So the term of Christ killers or God killer's is displayed in the crucifix
Typical Irish take on catholic faith and the family ethos.
...was that door guard Keenan Wynn at the 21:33 minute mark ?...
Wonderful movie . Brian Ahern , Madeline Caroll and the entire cast were excellent 👏 👌 👍 😀 🙌 😄 .
Interesting movie ... 🎬 🎞 🎥 🎦 ❤😀😃😄😉😆😅🤣😂🙂🙃😊😇😉
Great movie for all you Mischa Auer fans!
Lol@Will Farrall strong resemblance to dude with soul patch reading the will in the beginning of movie.
Edith Cavell was a brave woman. This only shows a bit of what she endured. Her daily life was misery, full of hard work, but she still had her spy duties to perform. I worked with a few 'Ediths' in my time, but haven't seen that quality in decades.
Such a charming, fun, and funny movie! Some hilarious one-liners! Thank you for sharing this and to poorthing for posting Madeleine Carroll's fascinating life story post WWII.
Funny how NO ONE in the Manchester of 1893 actually has a Manchester accent.
Brilliant movie, great story
William Troy for The Nation said, "It is the kind of picture calculated to make us believe that there is something beautiful and touching about war, after all.
One of the worst films I have seen the accents and most of the acting are diabolical
I don't know what i expected but this was a surprise
This is the earliest movie where I have heard the Lord's name blasphemed.
This movie definitely hit me in the feels a few times.
A tragic love story, well acted and filmed, and showing a good bit of history along the way. "Spare the rod..." was a lesson learned the hard way. I love to see how people lived back then, and this had several interesting people to follow. TY!
Such an amazing movie!🎥
Fred macMurray's movies are always good.... thank you for the upload 👍🏻
Thank you for the great movie. ❤
I love Marshall and Veidt. Especially Conrad Veidt! He's a great actor and sexy as can be, except as a Nazi, although he plays it very well.
I have read most of Howard Springs books, my son my son is the best…❤️🇬🇧
Excellent film with a heavyweight cast of acting notables---Herbert Marshall, Conrad Veidt and Gerald DuMaurier. Madeleine Carroll is a most elegant (that aristocratic Voice) and capable actress...more than just a "pretty face". One sees the great intelligence Hitchcock recognized and effectively mobilized in his early films. A shame that Her name seems to be falling into a bit obscurity as deserves to be better known among 21st century audiences. I particularly liked her in The General Died at Dawn (36), another war adventure / spy film as the naive daughter of a munitions runner who matures fast. What's so remarkable about Carroll's biography and this film is that she did indeed suspend her Hollywood career during WWII to work as a Front Line Red Cross Nurse. So it becomes almost "biographical". She was highly decorated for her devotion to service. I wonder if these film roles (Blockade, 1938) inspired her that there was more to one's life than being a "glamour gal".
Beyond prescient The next war was so much worse.
She is so strong and convincing. I had no idea this film even existed.
This movie fell under the jurisdiction of banned films-in this movie a professor exposes him to allegedly radical ideas, could be racism. But, what professor doesn't put things in people's head. For instance: history, sociology, humanities, art all either differ or peril the main hub of subject matter. In retrospect, this movie came out a winner & showed thru out the world. ❤🎉😂 What a doll Douglas Jr is lol!! And he can act too!! 😊🥰🎥😁
Oh no not Stepin Fetchit... An embarrassing end to a slow and "meh" film.
Oh my gosh! This movie is so good! ❤️😢

Very, very, intense movie of human relationships.Very, very well acted by all of the actors.Thank you,for showing this very well made film.
A very,very well acted movie.Thank you,for sharing it.
Id like to see a film about how Belgium treated people in their colonies.
I wonder about the wisdom of blaming all the people of a country for the inhumanity of their rulers. Evil people often obtain power by evil means and hold onto that power the the same means. Evil people are often masters at masking their true nature. Anyway...
It's interesting How creative the director was on this film .
A touching and well acted story.
You love game but you post american film noirs😂👍
There's another copy that's in color, but it's quality is pretty poor by comparison, so opted to watch it in B&W -- still pretty good.
Although Madeleine Carroll was top billed this was very much a supporting role for her along with third billed Louis Hayward at his unctuous best. Madeleine and Brian Aherne, two fellow Brummies
Herbert Marshal who lost his left leg to a German sniper in 1917 at the 2nd Battle of Arras on the Western Front
I hated Oliver, he is so mean... 😡
Excellent portrayal of the times, conditions and tough-choices One must make in such a scenario - one that has indeed happened many-times throughout History. …I found this excellent, the acting and directing extremely emotive and effective. Thank-You!
