A lonely horse trots against the sunset, where his path leads, doesn't he have a master? the horse's mane is messed up by a fast run, dusty is the smooth skin, beautiful eyes filled with pain. ______________________________________________ (Chrous: ) Why is that, no one needs you now, and are you even guilty of all this, that we can do everything with machines, but will you soon be forgotten? __________________________________________ Escaped from the barn, always looking for his home, there is still a road left, but the house is not. A hundred-eyed rock giant is staring at you, just if it made it clear to you that you are the last. ___________________________________________ (Chrous: )Why is that… ____________________________________ A lonely horse trots against the sunset. Where does his path lead, doesn't he have a master? ________________________________ Fixed the translation

The meaning of this song is that the Collective farms made the horses obsolite, and they started using machines instead of the horses, and that the horses werent needed anymore. The rock giant is a huge Soviet apartment building

It's based on a really old Estonian folk song. It's a story about how the world was "supposedly" created. Many new Estonian artists use old Estonian folk song recordings from our national archives to bring them back and put something new into it. You should try listening to Trad Attack, Maarja Nuut, Mari Kalkun and Cätlin Mägi. They all might have songs that are from the archive but have made it completely different with the sound and instruments so the same song creates variety of sounds and images. I believe that Mari Kalkun and Collage have the same song "Loomine". Same with Cätlin Mägi and Maarja Nuut have same song "Siidisuli linnukene" but the way both used that song creates two really different songs out of one original. Trad Attack uses old recordings from the Setu region. One singer's great grandmother was the one who sang all those songs in the recordings and she wrote down many of them, so to keep the culture alive, they use the songs to create a new.

@@KViljak can you tell something more about the song, what are the lyrics about? As a Finn I can only understand some of the words in lyrics but it's hard to get a grip on the themes.

I'm not that great of understanding some of really old words in Estonian either but basic plot of the song based on this site lyrics goes like this : sasslantis.ee/lyrics-collage-loomine First verse: there's an apple tree on the hill with one branch. On that branch there's one blossom. From that one blossom came one apple. Big wind came and it started raining a lot. Rolled the apple into water, pushed the apple into the spring. (who or what rolled and pushed is not mentioned...something did it but what or who I don't know) Second verse: what will become of this apple? From that apple a "bird" was born called Sirjelind. (That Sirjelind is a keyword in really old Estonian either to our galaxy called Milkyway or a road where dead souls go to - a bridge between this world and that world. There is no real bird called Sirjelind :D) Sirjelind was blue and silky, holy bird that flew to our forest fell on our paddock Third verse: bird started to make a nest out of branches and rods and made it two months, half of the third month as well. Forth verse: finished the nest and started to lay eggs. Took two months and half of the third month, forth week of the third month as well. Finished laying eggs, started to hatch them out, Hatched them two months, and half of the third month as well. Forth week of the third month and quarter of the fifth (that one is a bit confusing) Fifth verse: chicks were born and the bird started to throw them around. One became a moon to shine, second one became a star for the sky, third one became a day for the life after ( as I understood correctly or it might just be a day, that one is also confusing). From that our time started, from that our hours are felt and all minutes are burned.

@@KViljak Oh wow that's amazing, thank you so much! Bird's nesting as an allegory to the creation of our galaxy sounds traditional all right, but an apple transforming into a bird, what's that about? :) Came across this album in Funked Up East -channel and I love it, and this song especially.
