This type of equipment is called a high mount 5th wheel setup. Not your typical stinger equipment for those that don't know. A stinger has the 5th wheel behind the tractor with a lower center for the 5th wheel. For looking at his load, I'm guessing the highest point is the 4 runner because I didn't watch the video completely lol.
You don't have much clearance below that trailer, you may bottom out going over train tracks. I've seen that happened down here in Houston. As like many others I very appreciate you making this video for us. 🇨🇱🤠
Wonder what the rate is per vehicle.. thinking goin O/O and haulin cars. Would either be an open trailer like this with conventional 5th wheel (not the low rear 5th wheel), or enclosed trailer, and a super sleeper (basically a camper for a sleeper)
I appreciate you making this video. I work the midnight to 8:00 AM shift at a safety rest area in Texas where I saw an auto transport last night and wondered how you load and unload those things. I've been taking care of you guys for the past ten years since my stroke took away my ability to do what I spent twelve years training to do. I tell people, "I use my degree to make sure you have a nice place to pee." Thank you for being kind to your rest area attendants. And thank you for teaching me how you do what you do. Safe journeys ~Jeff
Hey. We do appreciate what you do sir. When I use the free showers on the rest areas of I 80 in Ohio I always give 5.00 to the attendants. Thank you for what you do !!!
I’ve had a car slip off a deck while loading because of snow and ice. Unless you are super careless they only drop one axle off and stop on the frame. Loading takes about 2hrs and unloading about an hour on average.
This load is 100% normal. It all depends on the dispatcher. There are loads of 11 Fiats, then there are loads of 4 F350 Dually long box Diesel pick ups. No two loads are the same. I have several 10 car haulers and we can put up to 4 pick up trucks and 6 other smaller model vehicles. On a high mount 8 car if you put one pick up truck on you can only fit 6 other units. Less cars equals less revenue. The load in the video is also 13'6" tall which is legal in all 48 states. It is also legal weight on all axles. I can get 6 pick ups to fit on this style trailer. However a load like that would be 14'8" tall and the trailer would be about 40,000lbs. Neither is legal in any state in the US.
This video was made to show an 8 car high mount. I also have several 10 car haulers and used to run a Boydstun 12 car. 4 on the rack and 8 on the trailer. With the size of vehicles today that is a unicorn load now. Plus with soft ties and no chains. The risk is not worth the reward. We run 10 car stingers and 8 car High mounts. I'd rather load a stinger all day long they are way easier.
The first car is usually backed on due to height. Backing it on allows us to lower it down and the roof line becomes lower to avoid hitting bridges. Sometimes you'll see a car drove on but never an SUV or Pick up truck.
Thank you. Me and my 3 year old grand son had a lot of fun learning this as he also is the proud owner of a slightly small version of a car carrier named Mac! Mr. Liam almost 3 said to tell you thank you! He was wondering what the name of your truck was!? 😂
Hello, You are welcome. I hope to make another video some day here soon. This trucks name was Amber Rose. She got it because that is the name of the paint.
I've only been driving two months and I know this what I want to do when I get some time under my belt. This is the first time I've watched a video of the cars being loaded. Yup, still want to do this.
It looks very dangerous! I been driving for many years, but never driven an auto transport. do you ever get scared loading and loading? do people get hurt doing this kind of job? I am considering this type of work.
you get nervous from time to time if your foot slips or you misstep. There aren't a lot of injuries most people are very careful. Probably less than any other type of self load truck driving honestly.
I loaded my first 9-car around 1989/90. Safe, damage free transport never changes does! Great job pointing out some of the "No-no"'s. I've seen "pros" going down the road with chains just a-swing in the wind......
This is a high mount trailer so first off know your equipment. High rails are actually very simple to use. They have so many options and so much versatility anyone with basic geometry can load one. A quick loader is a type of stinger trailer that refers to the ability of the top deck to drop all the way down so you can secure the top vehicles from the ground. I've driven Stinger Boydstun 10,11 and 12 car haulers for 27 years. These high mount trailers are much harder to load. You only have 53' of trailer to work with. A high rail stinger has over 83' of length.
Man, you don't know how many times I risked crashing on the highway trying to stare and figure out how this entire assembly worked. Thank you for taking the time out to make this video. 🙏
That's what brought me to this video....I did exactly what you just commented earlier today on the highway and immediately put a voice note in my smartwatch to look up how these worked when I got home.....mission complete!
Thank you for this video. I have always wondered how it was done. However, I used to see this alot when I was younger. I dont see many of these anymore.
They are actually on the bottom because they are so low they tend to scrape if driven up the top deck ramp. But keeping the oil leakers on the bottom is a bonus.
some out of shape guys use a ladder but most of the time we load and unload on uneven surfaces such as the side of the street or parking lots and a ladder is even less safe.
Saw one of these on the highway and gave them room to pass. They flashed their blinker at me 👍👍

How you strapping the cars
Here in the UK we load 9 cars on in 15 minutes including straps and height adjustment, we get paid car and load bonus
How did you exit the vehicle from the 5th wheel?
Why are the owner loading the truck !How do they exit the carrier
in norway we load 12 cars. 5 on truck and 7 on trailer.
Nice work bro.taker always

You won’t make enough to cover your operating costs of a large car, unless you go enclosed. You also better not need to send any money home.
Good job uncle I love u keep up the good work man
I appreciate it

You ever missed that notch and went over? And realistically what is the total time taken to load and unload while being safe?
I’ve had a car slip off a deck while loading because of snow and ice. Unless you are super careless they only drop one axle off and stop on the frame. Loading takes about 2hrs and unloading about an hour on average.
@@carhaulinginstructor3739 and how was it lifted back onto the trailer? And were you financially responsible?
I get nervous driving up on car ramps
This is not normal I was a transport driver for twenty six years and I never had a load that did not have multiple trucks

How are you getting out of the cars, on the top? This is so cool!
Think skinny and squeeze out the doors

I’m about to ship my car and have been nervous. Watching how this is done makes me feel a little better. Thank you for making this video and sharing!
Barely for me why the owner loading why not the carrier! Operater
You forgot to show how to load the tractor? Head rack and behind the cab 🤷. You know, like a real car hauler, not someone who just pulls a trailer.
This video was made to show an 8 car high mount. I also have several 10 car haulers and used to run a Boydstun 12 car. 4 on the rack and 8 on the trailer. Why is the 1st car always loaded backwards? For extra hangover or weight distribution? Thx!
The first car is usually backed on due to height. Backing it on allows us to lower it down and the roof line becomes lower to avoid hitting bridges. Sometimes you'll see a car drove on but never an SUV or Pick up truck.
@@carhaulinginstructor3739 thanks!
Are those straps on the four tires the only thing securing the car to the trailer? Always been curious about this.
Yes, and those straps are normally set for over 3000 pounds a piece.
Man I thought this is what I wanted to do but it's alot of tight spaces and imma Fat Boi soooooo maybeeeee nooo🤦🏾♂️🤣

Do parking lots make good money? This seems like a tough task
You can if you are good at it. You can also go broke fast if you are bad at it
Amazing!
I always wondered, while driving on the highway, how can they load those cars up there lol thanks for showing us
Amazing work and trailer design
YUP NOT FOR ME.. YALL ARE BEASTS GOOD ON YA MATES KEEP IT UP TONY 👍👏

CASSEN'S Transport will hire you right now. FRESH OUT OF Truck Driving School.
Can you make us training videos like where to press and etc whole course for three four videos please
for a fee sure
How long does it take to load 8-9 cars in real time?
about 2 hours usually
I want to get into this field so bad but I just graduated school and it seems difficult to get an opportunity
The cargo insurance is so expensive for new drivers. That makes it very difficult to hire someone with a new license.
WOW Amazing Super sharing Big like and thank you
how do you prevent from falling from height when getting out the vehicles
you have to always keep your balance and not get into a rush.
Thanks, now I can feel a little bit at ease about driving behind one of these on the road or highway.
I loaded my first 9-car around 1989/90. Safe, damage free transport never changes does! Great job pointing out some of the "No-no"'s. I've seen "pros" going down the road with chains just a-swing in the wind......
Too bad you're not a real car hauler . That's an easy loader not a high rail stinger.

This was awesome, truck drivers are the backbone of this country
i always wondered how the load these things
Do you ever load a vehicle backwards if they have a sunroof or convertible types?
Vehicles with a sunroof are fine to load backwards. Convertibles are not. The top is not designed to go 70mph backwards and can be damaged
Didn’t show how to secure the cars
Omg!!!
Man, you don't know how many times I risked crashing on the highway trying to stare and figure out how this entire assembly worked. Thank you for taking the time out to make this video. 🙏
It's crazy how they literally have cars 1inch away from eachother.
hahaha I know what you mean.
Same here. Good damn it, the same here
That's what brought me to this video....I did exactly what you just commented earlier today on the highway and immediately put a voice note in my smartwatch to look up how these worked when I got home.....mission complete!
I noticed his flags are on the wrong sides. Blue field must always face the front. Good video though. It will help in building my 1/25 scale trailer
Thank you for this video. I have always wondered how it was done. However, I used to see this alot when I was younger. I dont see many of these anymore.
He put the bmws on the bottom so they don’t leak on the other cars
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂
They are actually on the bottom because they are so low they tend to scrape if driven up the top deck ramp. But keeping the oil leakers on the bottom is a bonus.
We are adding a car transporter mission to our simulation game and this video was very helpful to get the details right, thank you. :)
give me a creative credit please :)
what game is that?
Considering doing this, how easy it it to drive a wheel off though??
Just curious, why climb and balance on the trailer itself when working with the straps? Why not use a latter?
some out of shape guys use a ladder but most of the time we load and unload on uneven surfaces such as the side of the street or parking lots and a ladder is even less safe.
