Track Update: Training Area and Pergola
It is almost summer and we are making so much progress on our Track System. We are adding a training area and improving our track fencing with pergolas! Our first Metabolic Rehab horse joined the herd (welcome to Rose!), and so much more is going on. I hope you enjoy!

We are getting ready to add Rose (who is recovering from Laminitis) to our track, and to do that we need to make some changes to our Paddock Paradise system. We often want to control things. Our horses, their environment, the weather! I'm learning to embrace the impermanence of things. Learn that we have rain and sun, dry and wet, and horses can make their own choices about how to experience their lives on the track. Different can be good, and we want to celebrate diversity on the track. I hope this helps.

With a few months on the track, we are now able to observe what impact our changes have made. There are clear needs for better water management, but we want to work WITH nature and not against it. This is the start of our rain garden area for the horses.

Looks so pretty. I saw where you like to watch the birds. I'm a nerd & my fav thing to do is play bird sounds on you tube from my porch & watch them arrive. Fav is my Starling that has had the same nesting area for a few yrs now. She hears me playin it & hops on out & recently her babies have joined her. Also wanted to ask you about your weekends & did I miss any & everything strawberries? Last 2 weekends I've had birthdays. May is birthday month lol. And my wedding anniversary. Lol. But I've been really hoping to come out to your farm!
i´m so happy to have found you here! our family has a 1 acre property in Germany and we currently own 4 Horses! I´m going to start a track system, horses a already out day and night but i want them to move more! i know the struggles - always problems to solve over here as well..or just making things a little bit better! much love from Germany

Just found your channel! Thank you for sharing. I am just starting my track system (on a budget) and just really in the first phase of it. Actually, I am new to horse ownership (just over a year), and the hubs and I just bought five acres and have just my horse and my boarder’s horse on property right now. I can’t wait to look up the rest of your videos!!

We have heard coyotes but I haven’t seen any around- and our chickens are still around 😅😂
What's your input on mosquitoes? Like as far as your wet areas. And since I also volunteer for Wildlife Response do you see alot of coyotes? They've been bad around here. It's mating season so they tend to be a lil more bold. Even in daylight.
Also my husband said if your husband ever needs a job he'd hire him. I think I told you what he does. Builds roadways & like have you seen where in the middle you'll see trees planted & the man made ponds? He does all that. Has for 22 yrs now.
Love the white daisies! I don't have much yard space to plant. I usually just plant in pots around my porch. What plants or flowers would you add? I could get some for you.

Love my morning birds. This is how much of a nerd I am. I play on RUclips bird sounds that are the ones around my yard. Aaand they always fly over closer to me. Cardinals..chicadees..Starlings...Robins. LOL. I've learned who's who & my husband thinks I'm crazy. (Whispers..I also play squirrl sounds ) 😂
Yes! Like right now its 7 am & the weather is hitting 78 by this afternoon. 😂 I wanna grab my mud boots & come for some horse therapy & nature. I'll bring some wildflower seeds. You said manimal. Lol

I love your wheelbarrow! Are those custom (bike?) tires? Looks like you have a nice routine.
Those carts are a life saver (especially since we don't have a golf cart or anything haha). We did get these as is, but I can't remember where they came from!
I'd love for even my husband to come with me sometime because the company he's been with 22 yrs now consists of building roadways. I like to brag on his man made ponds & trees he's planted along the roadways. Just from your talk on this whole video I think you guys would hit it off when it comes to the whole man made system. Dunno if any of that made sense but......lol

You aren't far from me. I am just north of Elizabeth City. I was doing permaculture when I lived in Florida and needed someone that knew the local plants here when I first moved here. I've figured a lot of that out on my own using Google Lens and just posting pictures online and asking. Nice to see others into it as well! I have subscribed now, will become better acquainted with you as time goes on.
