Mike and Ryan are neighbors that both setup haunted houses for Halloween. Mike loves engineering, so his house always brings the techno-wizardry of sound, lighting, and amazing automations throughout. Mike usually spends three months building his setup in his garage. Ryan on the other hand loves to decorate and to scare the $hit out of as many people as possible (he is nice to the wee little ones, though). Ryan typically sets up his house in his driveway for Halloween day only using tents. Scares are the goal and there are usually 4-8 people that help out as scare-actors including family, friends and neighbors.
Mike and Ryan typically work on Halloween projects throughout the year and will show some of those pro.jects here.

How To Secure Foam Tombstones #halloween #homehaunt #homedepothalloween #spookyseason
2024 Halloween Season continues!
I love cheap foam tombstones that you can pick up from Target. The problem is that the stakes that they give you simply don't provide enough force to secure the decoration to the ground with any sort of wind. They are too small, too short and always fall out of the decoration as the hole widens.
You can use tape on the back and wire stakes and those will hold for a bit.
I prefer to make my solution more permanent. These decorations WILL NOT come out of the ground from regular weather and this fix also makes them far more rigid in general.
I used the following materials:
Great Stuff Expanding Foam
1/2 inch PVC Pipe
1/2 inch Steel rebar
Flat Gray Spray paint
Duct Kn...

Could you have used a latex adhesive or liquid nails type product on the pvc, instead of the Great Stuff? Or was the Great Stuff used intentionally to cover-up the pvc pipe?
I used the Great Stuff because it creates a larger surface area to keep the PVC attached.
I haven't tried liquid nails before but it may work just as well. If you try it, please let me know how it goes!

I put mine on it's own box, but I put a Black table cloth over it, I have a black board on top of the box, and the front of the base is mounted to the board with just hinges, I have the enter if you dare lights in front of it mounted to the board as well in front, I have a large round patio brick holding it down in the back, but I notched this motion sensor is defective it goes off almost non stop.

Are you overall satisfied with it?!? Just picked one up!!
Congrats!!!! Have you put it together yet? Yes, I like it. The speed and sound of the pop-up just don't show well on camera. The prop makes noise from the pop-up mechanism itself that is jarring, which is a good thing for a scare. This will go well in a place that is a little quieter off the beaten path of your haunt. I plan on putting it on some sort of platform about chair height to bring the head closer to eye level. I was thinking a stack of hay would be perfect with some smaller pumpkins around it as decor.
