nice work !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Solid advice. Still on Start Projects part myself. Need to spend more time trying to get into and contribute to communities though.
That's really the big piece, and it's one a lot of people have trouble with. The rest you can do on your own, and relying on other people is scary.
Haskell not mentioned 😔
I actually don't know much about Haskell so I didn't think I could do it justice
🔥🔥🔥
Look i used to learn python but i saw golang and fell in love I CAN'T LET IT GO I AM IMPRISONED
Lol your profile pic says you still think about Python a lot!!! I've heard good things about golang, and I think it's a solid language
Full power rob ❤
what are some things that shouldn't be programmed in javascript?
Tbh I personally think it shouldn't be used for anything outside of the browser lol. Like even for server is too much. That being said I use JavaScript all the time for server and client and mobile. I just think there are better languages that are designed for those things and those are better choices.
Every single thing. JavaScript is the bane of the web. It enables a lot of cool shit nobody needs (and most people don't want, still companies pay for it).
I wouldn't go that far. It has a purpose. But it would be really nice if there were alternatives, that sort of thing helps make languages better.
Unity is C++/C# mix, unReal is purely C++
Oh ok good to know! I've only used c# with unity.
Is memory safety really that big of an issue? From what I understand, if you know what you're doing, you can create fairly robust safe guards and make it workable.
It really is. Even experienced engineers make mistakes and end up creating security holes. It's why basically every language after Java manages the memory for you. If it was just a skill issue then there wouldn't be so much effort put into solving it.
Tell me you havent worked with backend, without telling me you have never worked with backend. But to be serious, more than 70% of all errors are linked with memory safety. Microsoft for example, lost in early 2000 tens, of even hundreds of milions of dollars, just because of memory safety. Nowadays, there is no real reason to prefer c/c++ over rust.
Yeah I agree on c++ vs rust. That IS a skill issue for me lol, rust is super hard for me to learn

lmao
Interesting framework, it's the first time i've heard of it. Looking forward to seeing more about it if you decide to do more videos on it.
Yeah I found it to be really interesting as well! I have a few other videos I want to do on it, just to cover the basics, hopefully soon
First!
Lol
Very interesting! Definitely something good to learn!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video, thanks! MVC is a great way to help others onboard quickly and contribute to your code + good way to separate concerns. Good stuff :)
Thank you! Separation of concerns is a big pattern that can help keep your code clean. Maybe I'll do another video on it.
Just like Breakout rooms! Thanks Michael!
Michael does really good work as a TA, and we're happy to have his enthusiasm and expertise!
I didn't know Michael joined the channel, that's awesome!
He's done quite a few videos at this point! We're very happy to have him working with us.
He mentioned it at one point... maybe it was during a breakout room.
Funny coincidence, was just working on implementing state for a small game i've been trying to make. Got player state working, now just working on using state to be able to have more game levels, start menu, scoreboard screen, etc. Great video!
That's awesome! State machines are perfect for that sort of thing. I would love to see it when it's in a playable state!
Once had a coworker make a similar mistake in our NoSQL DBMS, although it wasn't prod, just the main QA server. He was testing a change to an import specification for the User database, which allows importing or updating data from a spreadsheet into the system and he selected Yes for the "Replace on Import?" setting, without realizing that meant it should replace the entire database with only the records you are importing (he assumed it would delete and replace only the record with the ID he provided). While it slowed down QA for a few hours while the server was restored from backup, it did lead to analysis that resulted in the setting being removed, so it was probably a good thing in the end.
Oh man I imagine that was super stressful for them! It always seems like every policy I've ever seen at a company is the result of something like that happening, where someone messes up and breaks things in a bad way.
Ngl, I've done this too 😂
Did you realize it quickly? Took me a week!
Is null.
@@domb2NY 😂
Green
I should start saying that in videos lol
But in javascript there's no concept in null termination like c. It will keep track by using and stuff
JavaScript, like most modern languages, handles all that for us, so yeah we don't need to worry about the \0 at the end of strings like in C.
Great tutorial, thanks for the explanations!
I'm glad it was helpful! If you have any suggestions for other content we would love to hear it!
Git Pull Origin Main!
That only needs to be done if you're pulling a different branch that the local isn't connected to. If you've connected the upstream branch, git pull should be sufficient
hi, can I ask a very quick question - why didn't you use migrations instead of syncing your models?
It's a good question! Migrations are really useful when making heavy changes to a production database. In that case you want to preserve your existing data so the migration helps with that. In dev there's usually not a big deal with tossing the entire dataset because the data isn't that important. So migrations are a powerful tool but they do require some work to code, so I usually don't bother for dev because it's more work to code a migration than it is to just drop the DB. It does seem like a good idea for a video though!
That was great. Thanks for the content. If you have a lot of stuff like this, I might just subscribe. 😁
I'm glad you like it! We have a lot of videos on how to do a bunch of things like this, less that are super deep dives. Is the depth what you found most useful?
WOOOOO takes me back, very useful HTML and CSS lesson!💻
I'm so glad you found it useful!
I had nightmares trying to find a good tutorial that covers it all and explains small details. I may just have found one. Thanks mate, please keep this channel alive !
I'm so glad you found it useful! Please let me know if there's anything else you think would be good to see
Lol I was scanning the yt for this one!! Thanks for posting about GitHub pages and React!
Absolutely! I'm glad it was helpful!
Supposedly all they need is scale, so we'll see in a couple of years if AGI emerges from it.
I think the next few years are going to be interesting in the AI field. Even if we don't get AGI we will steadily move towards it
I like the new thumbnails! This is super helpful! I suck at debugging and this will help me write better code for those job interviews!
So glad you like them!
Nice tutorial 👌🏻 Keep making them. More subs to come 💪🏻 I would like to give suggestions let me know if you wanted to hear them.
Glad it was helpful! We would love to hear your suggestions. I can't guarantee we'll do all of them but we'll certainly try!
Very very helpful cause I suck at navigating insomnia and using api routes haha 😅
I'm glad to hear it was useful!!
Good stuff as always Robbert
Glad you found it useful!
you clearly deserve more subscribers, i just wanted you to know that.
Thank you! That's a very nice thing to say! We'll get there, I'm sure
Heyy! I really enjoyed this video. i would really appreciate if you could answer this: Are embedded documents and subdocuments the same ?
Based on my research, they appear to be the same thing, yes.
Great video on CRUD routes, very helpful!
I'm so glad you found it useful! Please let us know if you think of any other topics you'd like us to do a video on!
Part 2 Happened! Thank you so much! It's very valuable for people on every level. Thank you again!
I'm so glad you find it useful!
Thank you. No info on subdocuments anywhere else
I'm glad it was helpful!
Anything else you can think of that might not be well covered? If I am familiar with it I can do a video.
Where the link to the first video 😢
Sorry about that! We've added the link to part 1 in the description
Thanks a lot. Are there a plan to publish other parts of this? your channel is gem - Few of the topics explained on this channel aren't available anywhere on YT.
Thank you for your kind words! I have been meaning to do the second part of this but I have just not gotten around to it yet. Hopefully soon!
the video i needed! I need to embed JavaScript classes into my head!
Glad it was helpful! Let us know if you think anything could be improved!
the memes are hilarious i love it! amazing video <3
Thank you! That's our video editor Dom!
Thank you so much. Its so hard to find contents with examples about subdocuments and nested documents. Finally I could solve a problem with your help.
I'm so glad it was helpful!
Very informative video it helped me understand arrays in JavaScript much better! Thank you unblockMe!
I'm so glad to hear it helped!
Great explanation of how to use Local storage in JavaScript!! 💻
Always a good refreshment about the basics, great video! music is slightly too loud .
Oh ok good to know! We'll tweak that for later videos
I like your intro "howdy folks"😂😂
Haha thanks!
great video on JavaScript conditional statements!!
Thank you!
